I play a stax deck very similar to Roland Chang's list. My goal in playing the deck has never been to completely lock them down. Sometimes it just happens, but usually I just try to steal a little bit of tempo from them to drop a bomb. In most cases, it is very easy to do. If I happen to lock my opponent out of the game while trying to steal some tempo away from them, it is just a bonus.
I have personally never cared for Uba Stax for most of the reasons that JDizzle has already stated. I have always prefered a stax style deck like Roland's latest lists. This is just a personal opinion though. Both decks are very good, and have finishes under their belt to prove it.

I found this to be a very informative read. Â I can't agree with you more. Â I have seen people make the same mistakes you have listed in playing tournaments many times. Â I can't tell you how many times I have watched my opponent take mana burn from a 1st main phase drain, and then nothing to do with the mana during the 2nd main phase.
For the most part, I agree with you comments about brainstorm. Â However, I think that a 1st turn brainstorm can be a really good play. Â I think of it as basically getting to start with 9 cards opening hand, and picking the best 7. Â Plus, if you have a fetch in your opening hand as well, this only gets better. Â This is just my opinion. Â

3) Black Lotus makes any deck better .: should be included even at the expense of another possible "business" card.
Maybe tag the on-colour moxes to this one? How about;
1.) Any deck playing black should play with Yawgmoth's Will. This should replace another business card if necessary.
Does every deck that touches black want yawgwin? What about decks like stax\modular? What about decks that are using hate like planar void? I would definately say that most, if not all of them do.

I think type 1 has a small chance of losing something key in Stax. IMO it will be something smaller, either Chalice or Crucible. I'm sure Gifts is on the watch list, but I don't think it has proven itself to be restriction worthy yet.
In legacy, Lackey will probably be banned, it has proven to be somewhat of a problem. I really doubt they axe Time Vault this time around. If it becomes a problem, they will get it in the next banning.

You are a formidable opponent because you size people up, always working out what and how they are going to play against you. You try to cut out the surprises by reading the look on your opponent's face and working out what sort of player he is. You watch and wait for his move to come and then you respond, expertly countering it. You lay low most of the time making you hard to pin down. You work hard to hide your own feelings about how the game is going, especially if all is not well. This way you make yourself a hard target to assess- like a guerrilla camouflaged in the jungle. The only time problems might come is if your opponent pulls something unexpected out of the bag. Most likely you'll put this down to bad luck, and hope things go better next time you play. But most of the time your measured responses and planned moves mean that you can cope with what gets thrown at you. You're not particularly keen on new sets coming out - there's a whole load of cards you're going to have to be ready to handle. You make sure you keep your finger on the pulse by reading all the latest strategy articles. This way when it comes to playing the game you know your plan is as strong as it can possibly be. I agree about not wanting to lose those 2 cards. The only reason I was able to get away with it, was due to the fairly weak environment that I play in. For a larger tournament, I would have to do some serious thinking about which 2 cards can afford to be cut. Its not an easy decission, but I think the Mox Monkeys are definately worth running. Not only do they have to waste a plow or counter to keep them off the table, which is one less for your welders, but if he does hit the table, you can wreck just about their entire plan of stopping you. Worst case you blow up their mana base. Best case you stop their hate for your deck.

What does everyone think about a couple of Gorilla Shamans in the maindeck. Not only can it get rid of Pithing Needle (assuming they don't name the Shaman), but we all know that it is great for blowing up moxes, chalices for 0 and 1, phyrexian furnaces, tormod's crypts, insert artifact that is annoying to play against in CS. I play in a pretty weak metagame, but in the limited testing I have done, it has worked very well for me. It was hard to work in, but for my metagame I decided to cut 1 brainstorm and a mystical tutor out of a very typical CS build. I would like to know how it plays out in a bigger tournament.

Can somebody please explain to me how the following interactions work? I've looked in every searchable rules database to try and figure this out.
1.) How does Fork (or Twincast) work with Skeletal Scrying? For example, if my opponent casts skeletal scrying for 3 and I respond with Fork, do I have to remove 3 cards from my graveyard? Do I lose 3 life? Do I have to do both?
2.) Same question, but with Tinker. Do I have to sacrifice an artifact?
Could somebody please explain both of these situations?
