Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Power Level Errata: They're removing it!

This is not ever going to happen. Those cards did not recieve power level errata, they were merely sixth edition rules updates. It is a coincidence that their original printed wordings happen to use words and phrasings that are still in use post-6th (though their meaning has changed), and that causes your confusion.
Should have said a little more. if the aim of all this is to restore cards to their original wording, will wizards look at these 6th edition changes, or will the cards remain the same to retain their original intent. To be honest i just want a borken lotus vale and mox diamond.

I stuck with this deck, i'm just excited that little crappy cantrips are going to keep making it better and better... at what it does. I thought infernal tutor would be ace in this deck, but the little testing i do now and then said there aren't enough cards in the deck you want to spend 1B to duplicate.
Why still 4 spoils of the vault? i hate to see 2, and would have thought 3 to be the max, especially now other tutors are in the frame.

Ok, so should all power level errata be removed, what would change, how would it affect the metagame and what would happen to the restricted list.
I cansee combo loving an extra lotus petal(mox diamond) and an uncounterable black lotus (Lotus Vale). It would certainley be exciting, I'm of the opinion that its better to have something played and restricted than not played at all, but what impact would it really have.

I'm reconsidering my primer. Apparently I'm not a good enough writer for SCG, and I'm not sure I want to put such a huge amount of effort into something that I can't get published anywhere but here. I'm really not sure I'm going to write it anymore. I might do something for the site here, but it won't be as formal.
d a y m, i thought it had been finished and submitted already. I'm sure there are a lot of vintage premium holders looking forward to this article far more than "Stinking Big in Copenhagen" by Julien Nuijten and ANOTHER rizzo delight.

I'm not on that, though at one point I was trying to brainstorm and see if it was viable... I think what we have now is better, and note that we don't even run tutors like Grim Tutor, because they're too expensive. All our tutoring costs 1 or 2 mana, which makes them much easier to cast, so we can use our Rituals for casting Belchers and such.
Try it out if you're feeling it, but I'm not convinced it will be a positive change for the deck.

One thing i thought death wish had going for it was that you could always use it to wish for answers that were one mana cheaper than their living wishable beatstick equivalents. I mostly enjoyed death wish to grab a narrow sideboarded entomb for those moments i had a goblin welder on the board. I think BB is the killer though, i ran an extra cabal ritual to help. What did you find the strong/weak points of death wish to be? What were you running as targets for it? Do you think losing a belcher and Yawgwin from the maindeck is too much? and leading on from that what did you cut? I take it this version either hasn't been tried much or has been tried and discounted??

You can't grab Naturalize with Living Wish, so we need to find a creature that we can grab, hence cards like Uktabi Orangutan, Hearth Kami and Elvish Scrapper.
What I don't like about the Scrapper is that you need to wait a turn to use him, whereas you can sac the Kami the turn you play him (for no mana if you're destroying a Chalice, but more if you're destroying something else).

Yeah this was one of those realise what you've done 5 mins after you've left the computer moments!

Elvish Scrapper vs. Hearth Kami:
That seems like a really odd choice to me. Obviously, if you can cast Living Wish through Chalice, you can cast Hearth Kami to destroy a Chalice set at one counter.
would the naturalize not be a better target in this case?

On their own aren't all these 2 card combo cards going to be the worst in the deck? Shouldn't it be the power of the combo that matters most? i.e if you want removal there are better cards than charbelcher, if you want an extra card to pitch to force of will why choose mana severance?

I thought the grim tutor was amazing because if you get 2 in hand the combo - w00t - costs only six again, even the mighty 5 of original long if you replace one with demonic tutor. I love it and would like a slightly crap looking judge foil to be released.

One thing to do that I've found, if you have the time and patience, is to search eBay's different Regions. There's an eBay France, an eBay Japan, an eBay Germany, and you get the friggin' idea. However, you have to be able to type in stuff like Underground Sea in French to get any reliable results on the French site, and even then your search can yield only English Revised Underground Seas.
Also learn the foriegn spelling and type it in on your home ebay site. You will find the odd card in fbb that definatley ships to you. Troll and Toad seems to be English only and lists in $. I thought it was American for this reason!
