As to why i play the deck as i play it i send you to the article i wrote about transformational sideboards. There it explains why it is transformational and how to use it.

The loss of brainstorm usefullness i am fully aware of when not playing fetchlands. And believe me when i do not have a transformational sideboard i do play those. But when you play full TPS you will need to include answers to hate. You will have to have a whole different sideboard.

I am unsure about the spawning pit. I am sure about the oath ability. Although it is a triggered ability it may be used, a player may choose to ignore it and thus you activate a triggered ability still meaning it to be a activation. So pithing needle should stop it. Correct me if i am wrong anybody.
