Congrats to the man of brass.  Hopefully he will write a tournament report for once Smile
2  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: VOTE STEVE FOR THE MAGIC INVITATIONAL on: August 12, 2007, 06:48:03 pm
Good luck steve, I obviously voted for you.  On a side note, I played against Jeff Cunningham yesterday at our local type 1 event.
3  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Future Sight Card Discussion: Summoner's Pact & West Tolaria on: April 08, 2007, 06:16:52 pm
I'm no legacy adept, but won't tolaria be decent in standstill decks?  Finding conclave, wasteland, factory under standstill seems like the best use for this card that I can think of.
4  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Multicolor control on: March 17, 2007, 07:57:25 am
I would suggest adding fact or fiction to your list.  I would probably cut future sight, because unless you're in a winning position, you're not going to want to tap 5 mana during your main phase.
5  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: W/B hate deck, has he got any possibility? on: February 26, 2007, 09:52:41 pm
castigate is worth testing.

jedi mind control unfortunately wins over brutes like the dinos.
7  Archives / Tournament Announcement Forum / Re: T1 for a Lotus in WA on: December 20, 2006, 06:58:54 pm
This event will be amazing!  Anyone that can make it from outside of WA will be GREATLY appreciated.  We will have a great turnout, with great players.  The trades are always very good in seattle too, so if you need that hard to find stuff, come get it.
8  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Ongoing Roanoke Results on: November 19, 2006, 05:27:18 pm
congrats to Ben Carp for a very strong showing at this event.  Smile
9  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: [Deck] Dimir Tendrils on: November 10, 2006, 06:29:46 pm
I really hope you somehow mise into duress in every opening hand, or else it will be 0-2 dropsville for you every tournament.  This deck just gets absolutely rolled to anything long related.

Also, please for the love of God add time walk to this deck.  Anytime you play beaters you HAVE to include walk.  You also need to add the 4th brainstorm because in pinches you will need it with 4x bob.  All in all, you're much better off playing BHWC tendrils.
10  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Should Gifts be Restricted? An outsider's perspective. on: November 07, 2006, 03:44:42 am
Gifts gets rolled in a heavy fish meta packing lots of grunts, crypts, etc.  There aren't any cards in the vintage pool that need restriction.
11  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: New Card Discussion: Lotus Bloom on: August 23, 2006, 12:20:37 pm
What mana sources will a deck like control slaver cut for this card?  It's simply worse than any other card in your deck opening hand, (i'd rather have colossus, trike, slaver, etc) and not coming online until turn 4 reads to me, "only playable in the control mirror."  Guilded lotus seems better all around for every argument brought to the table thus far.  Weld it in?  guilded is better.  Tinker for it?  guilded is better.  This card could be busted in some format, I'm just pretty sure it's not vintage.
12  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Whats your favorite invitational creature? on: August 21, 2006, 05:57:20 am
don't you really mean, mage or bob?
13  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: WHO WILL BE THE NEXT VINTAGE WORLD CHAMP><? on: August 08, 2006, 05:44:08 am
brian demars will win it all.
14  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Mind's desire in gifts on: June 19, 2006, 05:42:05 pm
I'd have to agree with steve, desire doesn't work optimally in a gifts list.  Mind's desire needs to be run in a deck with a lot of broken spells.  Fizzling a desire for 5 will happen much more in a deck like gifts than tps, iT, or grim long.  The more you try to tweak your gifts list to get the most benefit from desire, the more you turn into combo.

15  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Documentary of Rochester P9 on: June 04, 2006, 05:50:06 pm
this sounds like a great idea, gencon would be a great place to get some shots of really beautiful decks.  the whole non-proxy thing makes for some great video.
16  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [play scenario] What do you discard to Thirst :P:P on: June 04, 2006, 05:46:48 pm
I would definitely keep the demonic tutor, and make them show me their 1 out maindeck.  Remember this is game 1, and they don't have 4x CoV yet.  DT -> TIME WALK is the play I'd choose to make.  If all they have is vamp, you win anyway.  If they have DT, they have to also have lotus.  If all they kept is bazaar it's more than likely GG anyway.
17  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Help me form a new fish deck on: April 11, 2006, 12:12:34 pm
For anything fish that runs black, I have to suggest mesmeric fiend.  The more I see that card used, the more I love it.  Duress 5-8 seems like a good addition to the deck.  I think the biggest problem when making a 3-color fish deck, is the mana base issues, I just feel you sacrifice too much taking it to the 3rd color.  Finally, is  {R} {U} {B} fish really going to be better than
{W} {U} ?  As good as confidant, wretch, fiend, negator are I just feel the mage, kataki, stormscape (most important ability is white), true believer are better.
18  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: 2nd Annual TMD Awards on: November 09, 2005, 08:48:55 am
jaco most certainly does not have the most pimp collection, i promise that.  Smile

btw, no one can beat us here in seattle, having direct connects from wizards, plus having the game born here = GG.

and to comment on the list, smennen is hands down the most important person on this board, i don't see how it's even a contest.  so i vote  steve for every category, other than #8, b/c i had to give him a foil recoup, b/c he was playing a non-foil in his deck!  :'(  creator of gifts playing a non-foil recoup, that's right folks, not acceptable.

sigh, P.S.

Randy Beuhler is the player of the year.  out of the 6 tournaments or so he's played in, he's won like 5.
19  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: 4 foil asian Welders? On Ebay for only... on: October 25, 2005, 04:02:02 am
The welders belong to me, no I'm not ccghouse.  Seeing as though a complete playset of Japanese foil welders have never been on ebay, this price is 1000% completely fair (there was a point the BIN price was going to be higher).  1x Japanese foil welder just ended for $290, is the additional $10.00 each card too much to add, for a completed NM+ playset?  Lets face it, this isn't an auction for everyone, the future buyer will know the difficulty of finding an unaltered completed playset in 1 place.

Finally, I ask Jeff Anand to come into this thread for me, and tell TMD community what he received in trade, for a "not NM" singular Japanese foil welder.  (b/c Jeff prob has no idea who I am on the net, we traded, i had the Japanese welders, and we ate at steak and shake too much)  And no, Jeff's trade wasn't w/ some random n00b, it was with a person that was completely current on type 1 pricing.

as far as asian foils go, i was most certainly the winner @ gencon.  i heard mumblings of jaco, but i'm sure he's not in the double digits in japanese foils welders Smile

23  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Premium Article] Playing Meandeck Gifts on: August 30, 2005, 10:48:39 pm
Good read, thanks for the insight.  I think the most important part of playing gifts is having the sb that's right for YOUR metagame.  Don't be afraid to tweak the list and go for what makes the deck work the best for YOU.
24  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: [Results] 040 people; West Coast Sport Cards - Seattle (T8 Lists) on: July 24, 2005, 05:35:22 pm
i'm telling you, the majority wouldn't know randy buehler if he beat them with his magic stick.
25  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: [Results] 040 people; West Coast Sport Cards - Seattle (T8 Lists) on: July 21, 2005, 04:08:07 am
It sounds like you have a growing metagame out there.  Are you getting more people each time?  Having the opportunity to play the head of magic, basically, has to be a huge draw.

I would say that a lot of the people don't even recognize randy, and his being there does nothing for attendance negative or positive.  :/  When randy shows up...he wins..basically end of story.

congrats on designing what IMO is the best deck to surface in a long time.  restrctions will follow Sad
28  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: It's time to have a Serious Discussion about Proxies Again on: July 08, 2005, 09:39:33 am
if you don't want to buy the cards, play t2 or draft or something....proxies are KILLING sales at our local events here in the northwest.  it's almost to the point where i don't even like playing my own power anymore, because everyone i play against has a full board of proxies from turn 1 and beyond.  it's really getting hard to justify paying money to sit across from fake cards all day long.
29  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Meandeck Gifts on: June 27, 2005, 08:42:17 pm
My first post, thanks steve for posting a thread that motivated me to sign up.  I've LOVED merchant scroll since keeper of old.  If nothing else, in control mirrors you can merchant scroll for force/drain/misdirection is you have to.  Scroll is amazing, great ideas here smem.
