I have just one question : You said that the field was less filled with Wastelands than on the previous P9 Tourneys, but what about Workshop Decks?
The higher count of instant-speed win cards was helpful in the Dragon/Prison Deck matchup ?

There is probably  abetter creature to Maindeck in this kind of deck than Isamaru or Savannah Lions : Icatian Javelineers ,who can be useful against Welder Decks and reusable with Ninja of DeepHours trick.
And with 2/3 Daze/Misdirection in the other 3 slots it's a build played alot here in Italy with good results , just give it a try.
