1  Vintage Community Discussion / Casual Forum / u/w control!? on: August 25, 2005, 09:32:23 pm
hello i have been playing MTG for a very long time but since(since mirage) i was just playing as a little kid and with my friends i have only really been a serious player for a couple of years. I have decided to make a (or try) mo make a competitive type 1 deck. I know that there are people that have really good and very annoying. The deck that i have is a u/w control with solitary confinement as one of the main cards. Now i don't play solitary very early its probably one of the last things that i play or if I'm losing. I don't have many counters even though its control but with all of the searching its OK and with chalice. My one big kill is eternal dragon. I choose eternal because i don't want to draw a really big creature early in the game and just it sitting in my hand. I would rather have it do something in the mean time. I also have 1 millstone in there just in case, I think that it is better that grindstone. I have been playtesting it a lot. against so many decks, goblin, weenie, fish everything and i can do Farly well i win more than 70 percent of the time.  I can beat my friends thaumatog deck, which surprisingly can win 2nd or 3rd turn if played properly. Also i have play test against a mono blue control with arcane lab. It takes a while but i can pull if off. The only thing that i might need help with is other control decks. Please do not suggest P9 because i wont be able to get them but i am leaning towards mana drain because i finally have a job. For some conterspells i choose arcane denial because i find it a lot better even though your opponent gets to draw so do you its acceptable loses. This deck was part green until i posted that and got some suggestions and changed it to this thank you crazzykid8108 Mr. Green. So finally here is the deck and thank you for your support

Hey. For a long time I have been toying with an idea that would fit into type one. I have tried many different types of decks all based around solitary confinement. I have tried mono white, u/w, and a w/g/b. I believe that the w/g/b is the best way to go. My deck is based around solitary and to draw i use enchantress's presence. I also have a lot of enchantments from Ursa's saga that turn into creatures when something triggers it to and i am worried that when i want to use Serra's sanctum, that all of the enchantments wont be enchantments any more and that I wont have the mana i need to run some of the bigger cards. The black is in it for the tutors (I also have sterling grove for enchantment tutoring so i can look for other stuff with the black tutors) but I think that it is also good for the disruption (which i haven't fit in yet), also I use black for drawing early on in the game with Necropotence and Yawgmoth's Bargain. I have play tested against many decks. My biggest concern is MUC and anything that has control which is a lot of decks. This deck runs very fast and with the Solitary Confinement and Squee, Goblin Nabob combo i basically have red beat most of the time. Also i have trouble with some quick combo decks. Really, the only thing right now that have to get rid of anything is seal of cleansing. I have a few different win conditions in my deck. One is using Serra's sanctum with alot of enchantments with decree of justice. Also i have the endless wurm with rancor which also lets me draw every turn. I was also thinking of running the other enchantress's but i think that would stray away from my original idea. I would like to try and keep this idea because I don't think that many people play with this style. I would like to bring this to a tourney but i don't think that it will stand up to the power decks out there. So any suggestions would be helpful thank you Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green
