JUst wanted to quickly say a big thanks to everyone who checked this thread out and was able to either make a meet up for slinging some board or tried to organise something. Made the trip that much more fun. Thanks folks.

So if you are in NZ and want to try to meet up for a game. If you could let me know ASAP on TMD, that would be fantastic. We can discuss meeting up.

We'll be traveling through the following areas:
Auckland

When you in Auckland, where will you be in Auckland? I'm in Auckland & know pretty much all the Vintage players in Auckland. I can arrange something Smile

Hi, sorry for being slack with replies. Wedding set up has been sucking up my whole attention and time. Tonight literally will be the only night I can come out and sling board in Auckland. I am planning at this stage to go down to Vagabond and hunt up a vintage Or EDH game. What I'll do though is to also PM you my mobile number as I have picked up a prepaid sim in NZ

We'll be there just one night, our last in NZ unfortunatly.  Would love to bank in more time there but work does call. We get in on the TranzAlpine on the 24th late and fly back to Oz in the afternoon of the 25th.

I'll be picking up a local prepaid SIM when we get into country. So.... I can PM you my number when I get into country to see what we can arrange. Christchurch is going to be a tricky one. most other places we're in for a night to two. This one... Just the one.

Hi all,

My soon to be wife and I will be traveling through New Zealand on our honeymoon in April this year. I've been contacting the main stores I can find, however I am only hearing about a maybe on a few vintage players in Auckland and maybe Dunedin. We're travelling through the northern part of the north island and doing a loop though the south island. I'd love to meet some of the NZ vintage crew if there are any of you out there. Essentially I need to know if it is worth packing the power or lock it away in the safe at home.

So if you are in NZ and want to try to meet up for a game. If you could let me know ASAP on TMD, that would be fantastic. We can discuss meeting up.

We'll be traveling through the following areas:
Auckland
Hamilton
Rotorua

Dunedin
Te'Anau
Queenstown
Franz Josef
Greymouth
Christchurch

Would love to sling some cardboard with our brothers across the Tasman.

Cheers,
Kaka

Evening ladies and gentlemen, cardboard slingers extraordinaire. As seems to be the thing that is done about these parts of yon interwebs, an introductory post I shall forge.

My name is Karl, I play down in the nether bowels of Australia.... Specifically Adelaide, South Australia. I can usually be found slinging cardboard with the same Socrates referenced in this here thread. We've also been very lucky to have Tribet with us for the last 12 months as well, as he's certainly helped us get to the next level.

Historically I started back around Fallen Empires/Ice Age. I dabbled with a bit of T1.5 and limited formats. Read Scrye when it was in print and mostly played casually. I went on hiatus around Urza's Saga, came back to a casual & T2 group around Onslaught/Mirrodin blocks...... People who really didn't appreciate Nevinyrral's disks and sort of shunned me out. Being a poor arse travel addicted uni student at the time I wasn't pushing the issue and vanished again until moving interstate to South Australia where I am today. I found the slightest dribble of a hint at a Vintage scene running a 10 card proxy rule and I was wanting to try this. I dug out all the old decks and powered them up to a brutal little home brew. This was about where I encountered the serious Vintage players in South Australia. Had I not met those boys, I'd still be a scrub playing like a muppet today.

These boys set a bar. I am not afraid to challenge a bar and so I did. I tuned UB home brews, played egg-tendril decks, tinkered with stax, toyed with aggro hate-beats, sui-black and then fell in love with gush builds. I spent 12-18 months dedicated to gushing all over the place, GAT, D-Day, storm but most recently I am dabbling with oath. By this stage I am playing comrades in arms with the local players in Adelaide.  We try to support the scene as best we can locally. But power is mostly focused in Canberra and particularly Melbourne so we make a point of traveling a few times a year when nice prizes are on offer for a weekend of adrenaline and glory.

My current goals are to personally hold the Vintage Masters title in Australia then to travel and play at the Bazaar of Moxen and Vintage Worlds.

I don;t really play limited any more. I was playing some standard for a while, but I don't feel the same rush and energy or comradeship as when I play Vintage. I do dabble a little in modern when Socrates presses me. We also as a team tinker with Legacy (make a weekend of it when we travel for an event) but aside from Vintage my only other format of choice is EDH.

If you are in my neck of the woods. Try to let me know.... I love coming out for a game when I can.
