Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: New suspend Ancestral Recall

I think this card is practically unplayable, just because it's a TERRIBLE topdeck, although maybe theres some sort of way to abuse it since you could make everybody discard their hand and have it suspended ;/
Besides a turn 1 drop in something like URphidian?? I think it's no good for vintage. Now stanard, that's a whole 'nother topic...

I'll second what UR said.
Also, the disruption comes from after the Wurm is in play in the situation; in other words, your playing a 4cc card by losing 3 creatures, and if it gets Drain'ed, you've probably lost ;/
But besides that, UR hit the nail on the head.

Not like it hasn't been said like 40 times already...
I think the cc of 2 will keep it from owning Tendrils-based combo, but it may be smart to start playing a few Duress's in MDG? I know a few people who have had success already doing this, but now it seems like it would be almost bad not to. I'll be testing this, mostly because of my Fishy metagame.

You're Playing Gifts. End Of Story.
What My oppenent is playing usually doesnt make a big difference, it sometimes however decides the tempo. If youre Playing gifts, hopefully youve made the right meta game calls with your meta-slots, and besides that, theres not much you can do. Win?
If you read my post... I think your logic is flawed, if only just because of turn 1 tutoring fx ;/

For onel, of course, this goes in reverse, as (at least I'm assuming) your opponent doesn't know what your playing.
Personally, I don't think repeated playtesting will skew your results. Now, your theory is correct; I was testing PitchLong vs MDG the other day, and my MDG-wielding friend Scroll'ed for a FoW turn 1, which could have easily been a Recall alot of other times. But I would say that there are things you need to watch out for...
You need to be able to know what your opponent is playing, and know it quickly, either first or second turn. If you know the correct play against a given deck, through playtesting, then the sooner you know your playing against that deck the better your match will be.
Again, personally, I don't think there is a great way to randomly test; or at least I don't use one if there is one. But playing against the same deck over and over, and looking for similarites between plays, or differences between a similar decks plays, you will be able to recognize the deck your playing against fairly quickly.
Or at least that's just my $0.02...

Sorcery speed cards arn't good in Solidarity (except lands ). Ancestral Recall is obviously a MUST in this deck, but I would also advise alot of changes to your build to convert to Vintage... 4 Reset 4 High Tide 3 Brain Freeze 4 Force of Will 4 Brainstorm 4 Opt 4 Cunning Wish 3 Turnabout 2 Flash of Insight 3 Twincast 4 Impulse 4 Meditate 1 Ancestral Recall Mana – 18 3 Polluted Delta 3 Flooded Strand 6 Snow-Covered Island 6 Island I believe 4 Wish is a must to have an out against Chalice ASAP, since you it hits Chalice @ 1: 1 Ancestral Recall, 4 Brainstorm, 4 Opt, 4 High Tide Chalice @ 2: 4 Reset, 3 Twincast, 4 Impulse, 3 Brain Freeze I think you won't need the SB space for Blue Blasts, so Rebuild should be a 4-of depending if Stax is a contender in your metagame. A possible Red splash for SB R&R could be in order?

There are several changes, but they depend on the metagame. If it's Stax heavy, metagame against that, if it's control heavy, modify it against that, etc, etc. I would try to get some cards against everything so that you have a decent matchup against most decks. The 2 foothills and 4 mires was due to the fact that those were the cards that Durney had to play with at the time.
Could I get some specifics please? I'm sort of new to Vintage, so when you say "metagame against this and that", I don't know what's omtimal exactly. Let's play a pretend game a second... Theres 20 people at a tournament. The percentage of the best decks is completly equal, maybe something like 3-4 of each. How would you tune the deck to beat everything equally? Thanks.

Hey guys, I'm a lonnnnnnnng time (when I played Keeper pre-Decree and pre-Trenches, lol), first time posting.
I'm planing on playing this at a tournament in a few weeks, and just wondered about a few things. First, what changes would you suggest for a rather open metagame? I talked to a few type 1 players here, since I havan't palyed type 1 here in more then a year, and they said there was a little of everything. Any thoughts?
Also, why not 3 Mire 3 Foothills? Is there some specific reason why the list has 2 Foothills 4 Mire?
EDIT: Edited some stupid typos...
