1  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: Vintage Champs comes to Philadelphia - November 1st-3rd, 2013 - Top Deck Games! on: May 31, 2013, 10:27:49 pm
What is this crap? 19 years of tradition thrown away!?!
For the 20 celebration one decides to fly in again and as dates are known people book flights early then some dooshbag moves it 2.5 month early.

For dooshbags only : Your the King, the King Kong , the biggest Ape arround.

It's like burning an alpha lotus for the me , thank you very much.

But in the end it's still held, and thats what matters.

Richard, this reaction is beyond inappropriate and cannot hope to spark anything other than a flame war.  Full warning for flaming - Prospero

3  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Dr. Edge meets brava Giovanna! 1 Place at D- Day on: March 14, 2012, 08:41:07 am
Hi everybody as this will probably be read by a few more people I will just keep it in English and hope that's ok.

After my last years top 8 at BOM and Ovino I was really into getting there a third time at a big tournament. these are the preparations for D Day in Empoli near Floranz (IT).

Hanau in Germany at the begging of the year placed my list in top8 but I only managed to end in 10 so now I had to be better prepared and focused on the tournament. Also Timo who I regular discuss with about list was also top8 and thus our deck still is more then viable and we get to prepare for the Cages, which definitely would bring MUD ahead and we both see at our primer enemy.
Its not important how the development evolved but rest assured I spent quit some time analyzing and testing all kind of builds.
Funny enough I decide to have a bit longer trip to Italy as just for the Ovino and take the chance to go to Milan on the 4th of March to maybe snitch a bye for the DDAy which surely could help.

Milan is told fast I played the in my eyes optimal list for the actually Meta:

Richard Lessmann
Dr. Edge

4 Leyline of the Void
4 Unmask
4 Cabal Therapy
1 Ancient Grudge
4 Bridge from Below
2 Darkblast
2 Golgari Thug
4 Golgari- Grave Troll
4 Stinkweed Imp
4 Narcomoeba
4 Bloodghast
3 Ichorid
4 Serum Powder
4 Bazaar of Baghdad
4 City of Brass
4 Petrified Field
4 Undiscovered Paradise

//Sideboard
4 Chain of Vapor
4 Nature's Claim
4 Ingot Chewer
3 Wispmare

No Dread returns no stitcher no titians no fatties. Straight 14 playsets (Thug Blast are count as one).
3 ichorid and one "I hate losing to Vault key/Painter out" I do not like to jump out of the window and I do not want to win with 68 Haste zombies, for me it’s just important I bring him to 0 lives before he gets me. Thus the more SB tech options I can bring in against all sorts of hate is more important for me.
Therapies can create enough tokens anyway and starting 3 turn with unmask in hand is the winner nearly all of the times.
Main deck I want them to gather as much information as i can from my opponents deck, the more I know the better I make decisions g2 and 3. What does it help me if I win g1 on turn on and only know he has an island? For a MUD player that’s enough. Not for me.

Milan is fast told:
nobel 2:0 {:-)
GW  2:0 {:-)
Snapcaster 2:0 {:-)
Snapcaster 2:0 {:-)
I.D.
I.D. and top8.
Snapcaster from round three and again 2:0 Very Happy
MUD Jury who stopped me in Ovino. X-D
2:1 (lost due to mulligan 1 but would not have won it anyway)
g3 was mull 4 with bazaar into bazaar /unmask Smile GG
I split the finals with bax (GW) as prices are basically the same and he gets more NVL- Points for the win which I do not really need. With only two NVL rounds played I am already better than some people who played 5-6 rounds 

So my bye was there and I had a very solid deck, PaXxu a fantastic Italian legacy player I know for years now,  who will split finals a few days later in d day legacy flame wars for days in the forum all the Milan players as they did in effect have no good boards for Dr. Edge and thus my super solid winning was not real a problem. :-p

Somewhat I did not like him forcing people to rethink what techs they use but I also was skeptical people would listen. For a big event like D Day you must expect some Dr. Edges and everybody knows I will be there and try my best.

Off we go to Florenz on Thursday and I have a nice Bistecca Fiorentina, sadly without the filet with my buddys Vicio and Fra, I nearly explode after that extraordinary dinner but manage to  arrive at the Hotel in Empoli at 2 in the morning.
Friday I want to play a legacy trial as I brought the deck and Fra will also play it so I want we talk together all the time. Further I want to get more practice in legacy I have problems recognizing decks really fast as I do not play or read about the format much, which I would want to change in the future.

2:2 drop will be the result, nothing special here.  :'(

Lots of people lots of great cards and lots of talking and off we go to a club {:-)  in Florence where we meet up some of the best eternal players in Europe to have a couple of drinks Smile get back home late start the day early.

I do not play the legacy tournament as I help Jens in his shop buying one of the pimpest t1 foil lot you can find around.

In the evening we play a baby pimp 10 people tournament but the low amount of sleep gets trough and I lose to MUD and Oath. Still this kinds of events in Italy are outstanding the concentration of ATOMIC bombs :-*  is really dens and wow, what cards they have there. Let’s hope they still let me play in the future  Very Happy

Sadly I again get to bed very late, but well i did nothing all day long so I hope I will be really ok for the next day.

Wake up at 7:30 D- Day Vintage here I come!
Sadly I do not remember much as I concentrated on playing and relaxing between the rounds, I do not remember a single name but all my opponents where friendly honest and sportsmanlike.
The List is the 75 Cards I presented above just to solid for a big tournament.
123 players all sleeved up off we go.
NOT!
Round 1:
Which starts super late due to PC problems I have a bye and scout out mirrors and the good people I will be expecting later the day. There are a massive amount of Blue decks and a high rate of MUD. Quite a bunch of GW/Nobel and a total of 8 possible Mirrors. Obviously a couple of random deck which I won’t expect to see later, I hope but well.
Round 2 fight!
I do my job he starts off with painter I have land and a grudge to avoid a win and off to g2.
I think he tried a fast combo but was surprised by a Chewer, and a solid 2:0 again.

Round 3
Deck check and puh no game losses but I have to change one sleeve.
He will lose against me but I think he will end in top 8 later the day. He is not very happy with the matchup and well another 2:1 for me. Actually I had to mulligan low and he mills me trun three or so, g3 I chewer is needle and bounce his hardcast leyline for a fairle safe win late. good he entered the top 8 as I did not remeber the secodn and thrid match.
very simpatic guy compliments on your result!
Round 4
I know he plays Nobel GW something and well decide to keep the mulligan two hand with unmask and black card I draw dredger he forces I draw bridge and unmask he does not counter but plays an ooze and well that will be enough.
G2 I mull to 3 again and get really annoyed as I powdered away 21 cards already. I hope that’s it with mulligan’s for today I bring him down to one life but his ooze and no bridges will help him deck me.
Round  5
Very friendly player who has outstanding good looking Alpha Stapels and plays Blue confidant control. He is as nearly all players very happy once I drop my bazaar, BUT he mulled to five and found a wasteland which he seams to play a couple off, it does not stop my guys and off to g2.
I think he extirpates bridges and some stiff but does not find a kill and I manage to kill him with the good old möba ghast ichorid beat down plan.
Round 6
Anton from Germany and sadly know he has a very solid board we decide to split and hope the better one will win it I will win the first fairly easy, don’t remember if he wins the second one but I know he his Leyline will meet 3 Wispmares and a claim to get killed, and soon after he dies.
Round 7
Gabriele started with an easy 5:0 but lost last round to white weenie! He was not really happy about that and is not really happy about playing me either. I have the best opp score but he is forced to play or he would drop out so well off we go.
G1 I have bazaar field and win it fairly easy he kills my bridges with his karn and a mox but that does not help the requiring ichorids and ghast from coming.
G2 he starts with a super solid needle, poor bazaar he adds a relic and my DDD plan does not work anymore and I die soon after.
G3 I have a super solid lots of mana hand and bazaar. He plays a cage and a sphere.
I draw normally and manage to find a chain he dies not find more spheres or beaters or wastelands and I manage to drop two lands, EOT I bounce the cage and in my main I hard cast a  therapy to get it, shortly after I will be in top 8!
BINGO!
Quarterfinals:
The Nobel guy I lost to. This time I will have a atomic hand and will win g1 easily.
G2 I keep a 7 hand without bazaar as I expected him to have needle or cages.
I have a variant of dredgers, claim chewer Paradiese and field, my plan is to take care of the hate and field for bazaar but well he starts with an Ooze which makes all a joke for me. That’s poker guys. Also I somewhat was scared again as I took so many mulligans g1 and and the last games against him I suspected his fingers to magical and hide my bazaars the game goes back and forth in the end the fast ooze will win it once he gathered more than one mana.
Well g3 was again a super solid hand sadly with only a small dredgers but I will bring it home with möba beat down in the end
Semi finals:
A MUD guy that threw out my friend Fabian from top 8 and I want to get revenge.
G1 I keep a very solid bazaar field hand and he wastes me multiple times but I have to slow dredge, miss a möba trigger and  a cast trigger which really pisses me off, that’s basics I missed and I hate to make erros as this can cost you important games.
I have all 4 bridges 3 möbas a couple of ghasts and it looks I could win it in a few swings. I have no more lands as he wasted 3 or four times and well what I have is what I will get, but he does have a bunch of blockers for all my guys, and next turn I will have two more ichorids. I decide not to attack with non flyers so I get 4 tokens and keep my bridges. If I get in three ichorids next turn for tokens that will be it. He pays two lives and casts a metamorph, shit that will not be good but instead of letting it die he decides to copy a golem, thanks man!
Two turns later I can swing for leathal with 16 tokens 3 ichorids 2ghasts and 3 möbas!
G2 he will need to powder a couple of times but nothing to special he will relic me but I have bloodghast möbas and beat him down his tomb also helps here.
Again he does although I paradise my ghasts 3-4 times, and he has crucible in play, he does not waste me and lets me keep the paradise which I play in situations and hope he keeps n make the mistake.
In the end he will be killed by requiring ghasts and the one möba . with Fabian in this situation I would surely not have entered the finals.
I might confuse something here but that’s what I think I remember maybe there was a g3 but well.
I was carried into the finals from him anyways.

Finals Luca Lovino - Milan, does that sound like a plan?
I won 2:0 against him in Milan and he knows his board does not get real better, he insists in not playing but still want me to leave him the win.
I offer him a split but I want to win it anyway he is kinda pissed as he is tiered hungry and his panties are full.
I have him sit down and we play for the honor and the permission to point the finger at each other till we die 
G1 is an easy win with a nice hand and he can do much about it.
G2 he decides to keep a medioric hand puts 8 goblins into play with first turn.
Well I saldy took another mulligan to 1 hand card and sadly it was not a bazaar, I  get kill three turns later.
I start with only one dredger an will be forced to draw a card in upkeep. I will find a black card for my unmask though which I cast to see what plan he has, I know he has traps and dredge slow and accordingly Unmaks him and he spell pierces.
He does not play a land and I dredge very slow as I see möba and a ghast, which he lets me put into play. I try to claim his lotus and he plays a gift, but instead of getting mana ore more resources to match his game plan he just gets even more hate. E plays a spellbomb and I decide to just draw a card, I cast a claim and he sacks the bomb to draw a card, I activate a bazzar and pass.
I know he has at least one trap and slow dredge and he lets enter the möba, I tr0y to make a token which I  do not get and next turn I manage to make one.
Slowly I get him to low life he finds very few mana an intuitions into walk LOA and crypt figuring he has trap still in hand and some more stuff I just hope he does not draw a will.
He TOA for 3 walking.
Passes and I bring him down to 3, he draws and scoops.
Wow What a trip the planed bye and even more Important

7  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Dr. Edge at BOM 5 on: May 17, 2011, 03:28:36 am
depending on the matchup  normaly borded 13 cards and adjusted after that depending on what hate I saw. In general I left the grudges out as needle is run on a very unregular bases and in one offs or two offs, but you need, if i did not see leylines i bord out the wispmares again and strugle for space for the other two unmaks. back in g3.
I felt very confortable with the list and would not change a single card i work on it a lot and it matches my play style.

firestrom for the win!
8  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Dr. Edge at BOM 5 on: May 16, 2011, 11:19:51 am
hi guys , Small report for the people that care.
After good preparation with Dennis, Timo and his Dredge guys , Adan AK: Captain Obvious and especially Roberto Moroni I decide to bring Dredge to both events for the heck of it.
Legacy had no intention to go far just wanted to train the different triggers and shit you can do with the mechanisms of the deck and get some very nice conclusions.
You guys have around 6 cards in hand and some deck manipulation I have 30+ cards in a grave and a lot of small things matter in the end, and can fast add up to a loss, play them correct and your deck will be your friend.

Legacy is fast story win 4 lose to goblins and two enchantresses but my good friend and roomate Oliver will march into the finals and that's good enough for me.
3 hrs of sleep should be enough with two byes i can start the tournament relaxed.
Off we go and scout out the Mirrors we could play and check what the top players play, Ruggero and I see a lot of mirrors we could face. The byes are super fantastic and we are well prepaired we play different lists as we vary in play style a little but off we go.

All scouting was worth it we both start with a mirror:

ROUND 3: my opponennt saldy is Ruggero sucks but shit happens
We talk about splits/conceds draws and decide its better for both if we play it. no splits no problems off we go.
[deck]
Richard Leßmann
Dr. Edge
Main Deck 60 Cards:
4 Leyline of the Void
4 Unmask
4 Cabal Therapy
2 Darkblast
1 Terastodon
4 Bridge from Below
2 Dread Return
2 Ichorid
2 Golgari Thug
4 Golgari-Grave Troll
4 Stinkweed Imp
4 Narcomoeba
4 Bloodghast
4 Serum Powder
4 Bazaar of Baghdad
3 City of Brass
4 Petrified Field
4 Undiscovered Paradise

Side Board 15 Cards:
4 Chain Of Vapor
4 Nature's Claim
2 Ancient grudge
2 Wispmare
2 Firestorm
1 City of Brass
[/deck]

I feel slightley superior as I run more lands and more leyline hate. I win the roll but let Ruggero star. He wonders why but I want him to get as much cards as he deserves = as few as possible. We woth start with leyline and I get lands after him, he only has field and Shitmore Salvage I fastly find city field and with paradise I get my Imps online, Chalice at one from him stucks my blast but with three imps online he scoops.
Second game he start with leyline and bazzar I have solution and bazzar but no leyline, his second bazaar ends it fairly fast.
g3 I fan out following 7:
2 Bazaars, 2 city of Brass, Troll and BINGO TWO leylines.
I start dredging and he scoobs as he does not want other people to know what we play,  thanks for that!
3:0

R4: I might confuse some of the mid round opponent sorry for that
He mulligans to five and gets smashed fast by my zombies I see steel sabotage trygons. thus I get the idea he is noble and in come the firestorms. he start with tropical go and I get scared about Stifle waste one my bazaar followed by a second turn relic which would end it maybe fast so I plan B City oif brass go he draws three cards from recall and plays a gof in his turn EOT I Firestorm for three on goyf discarding 3 dregers sadly he has daze , I would have loved to kill a goyf Smile dredge into a lot of shit and a fat Troll, he draws and dies the turn after.
4:0

R5: Red Staxx he mulls into a stripmine but i have field and find a bazaar in the bazaar, gg.
g2 he struggels to find some helpful stuff with bazaar welder but does not find anything my guys coem visit him on a regular basis.

R6: Mirror with a Shitstitcher list.
he crys with the first turn leyline and as I cast my firt guy he scoops.
g2 I have no leyline and his doble bazar does the work.
g3 we both have bazaars but he is bit unlucky as he misses one dreger my terastodon takes care of the bazaar and I will win it soon.
hey 6:0 this is getting interesting.

Round 7:
Spanish guy with gush that meet terastodon for his Fastbond he stroggles but its not enough I win it.
g2 he starts U sea go I bazaar he EOT vampirc, and plays a jailer for whom I do not have a solution yet. he EOT a Mystical on tinker and Blightsteel will win it to him
g3: he smashes me with God hand, he says we will see us in top 8 and I respond that I will be there for him. he sadly will not make it in the end.

6:1

Round 8 something Jace controlish win g1 fairly fast and g2 he is not very happy with his hand I saw relics in the board and a confi in g1 so my storms come in,I can not remember if he actually had anything or not but I win it farily fast 7:1

I can not draw into t1 and get paired for yet another mirror.
I Start partying a I feel suppirior in the mirror as I allready won two and I think he does not have leylines.
but am not to shure about it.

he decides to take a mulligan and I powder, I draw into a leyline hand and he shuffles and takes the six, after that he looks at the serum powder which contained two Bazaars and starts crying i show him lelyine and a beater off to game two.

we both don't have a leyline but he has two bazaars and Sphinx which end it fast. g3 he might overrun me but is unluky in dredging once and I find a terastodon to take care of his bazaar. With briges being removed constatly I need to full my bord fast, I will finaly win it with killing his blockers with dredged blasts and terastodon go beeting, with one card in my library, lots of math to do. 9 rounds I am super happy to be in top8 as second of swiss.

Three hrs of sleep sadly start to get feelable I will have concentration issus in the following games but i do not care I am one of the best in field of 383 players at an fantastic organized event but will try my best.

too be continued for the top8:

1 - Rohner, Omar [ESP] - 24 - TurboTezzeret

So I get some food and drink till I have to get seated with Ruben Gonzalez I do not remeber much of all the games and I hope I do not mix up to much.

off we go top8 at BOM I win the dices and start with my bazaar.
he fetches and puts tropical into play  tap for blue I see a Preodain in his hand he wants to cast but then decided to go get another land which I do not permit. very unhappy with that decision I think he had a good hand against me and could have combo soon. I only have one therapy in grave and want it to hit lethaly he lets it resolve and I named demonic tutor which he had to discard, I will win soon after that.
(In the rounds I also nominated vampric tutor with my opp having three cards in hadn of which two I knew, he thought about playing something for a split second and was shocked when I nominated vampiric. Also here I accompanied my therapy with a "Therapy out of Hell Shout")

game two goes back and forth and after a twister, I kill all his lands with my terastodon but the tokens come and visit me till I am very low on life. I have no land drop and no ichorids somehow and can not beat him lethally. I miscall therapy, and sadly boarded one out thus I can not get the tendrils he has in hand. upkeep he tutors for lotus with land drop its GG for him. I received a warning and now need to be more carefull.

off we go to g3 in which he presents a fast Jailer which get handled by my firestorm i think he cast an other one right away but I managed to land three tokens and a 6/6 troll that come visit him on a regular basis. As I have nothing to fear for the moment I don't use my bazaar in case he would want to reset mi in the next turn.
fair enough I win it short after as he has to block my troll with his jailer.

thanks a lot for the game sorry for the being so picky and missing so many triggers myself. 3hrs of sleep are why to few and Lorenzo is also happy that I do not want to start right away for the semifinal and so we take a short break.

Semifinals: Lorenzo Fedeli
he's a very well known Italian player but in all the years I go to Italy I never had to play him but I know from the beginning this will be an intense one.

G1 he Mulligans correctly into a fast hand with some speed but sadly does not get help from his deck and keeps on a 5 card non optimal hand.
I on the other hand I do what I have to do and win it fairly fast.

G2: we go back and forth I get rid of his jailer but his board and draw situation is fairly intense to be honest I have resetted the games shortly after  with a couple of bears I only know that he won it super tight with one of the last possible draws. i think it was the game where he casts a Tezz and goes for a vault in response I kill his key. I should have killed the key in activation. but I thought he only run one key so i thought it did not really matter. with lots of deck manipulation he finds another key for the win.

G3: Was even more ridiculous. he only starts with a confidant which I could darkblast but he reveals high casting costs and I do some minor damage.
he passes the turn and I think of blasting him but decide not to and keep it open as I have three ghasts and a ichoird in grave if he next trun reveals something for one he get overrun with my haste guys.
Sadly he does not revel a damage and i time walk him again, the extra card he got was lethhal but I did not want to kill my bridges as I had three.

I am still not shure whether i had a correct play, a reveal for one would have let me one. but he revels a fetchland.

Actually I wanted to name the fetch with the therapy as it annoyed me so much but well that's life you can not target lands.

the next turn deck manipulation and zero mana on the table leave him with tapped vault and a hardcast key on the table. one cards left in hand.

He will kill me with his landrop which sadly is the free Flooded Starnd  I gave him with confidant and could not therapy.

Lorenzo will not win the final but very compliments to him anyway.

This is my one of my favorite in PSA Idioty. I further have sended in a bunch of alpha and beta cards at the same time and a few beta cards where labeld Alpha. This let psa decrese in my oppinion and I do not value tha cards higher anymore.
Thiere grading is not as profesional as they say it is.
