That makes sense too. I took a look at the list myself and saw 10 lands main, no fetchlands, and some 2x of lands like Cavern and Ancient Tomb in the SB and figured it might be Maps to grab white or Tolarian. Aside from a Neo-Academy or Belcher or for old time's sake 9 land stompy, I didn't think that 10 lands would be enough without a fetch/tutor effect. On a side note, I see Brainstorm didn't even make the list yet Ponder did. Is this because of the lack of fetchland's or another omission possibly as well?

Hopefully you can add another player for this next one^ Attempting to get back into 15 proxy range by the tournament after selling nearly all of my Vintage staples the last few years. I'd love to sling another round of Vintage and the location seems close enough to make it a reality.

Concur with the Sol Ring and Mana Crypt. Also questioning Yawg Will in a deck that can't really abuse it, maybe if you had Dark Rit's. I'd consider Death's Shadow and Thoughtseize/Vampiric and make your pain spells and "Pox math" add up to a cheap beatstick. Pox decks usually cant afford to play spells that cost over 3 that aren't Pox either.

That golem deck looks like a blast. However, I'd rather play this over Twisted Image. Also, why that Jace over the good one? I lol'd at the Golems deck as well. Then I wanted to toy around with it lolz. I'd love to see a UR splash with some Welders and a card I'm farting around with for lolz as a 1x of in my other decks, Reckless Charge. Mmmm 3x hasted 6/3's with the Precursor Golem, or throw it on a Tinker robot ftw, or Weld things right now! Ohh and it flashbacks if you need it again. Crimson Wisps is another that will net you 3x 3/3 hasted fellows and the Recall to boot but I think 18 points attacking usually does the trick too.

Shameful how marginalized Vintage is, even among eternal enthusiasts, that they can't even be concerned to post the decklists.
I don't understand people that always complain... Wait a few days, TO have to write down all decklists, which includes 2 Commander decklists tournaments. Also all 8 decklists have found their way to this thread while a tourney that went on 10/27 @ Eudo seems to have only 3x of the T8 decklists. (only 25 players total) 25 people showed up, lots of newer faces!
Stephen may having the honor of doing tourney report (since he has decklists).
Steve, gonna share those lists?
Is this what irony is?

Man if we're going to bring Defy Gravity and Traitors Clutch into the mix why don't we just mention Psychotic Fury and ~this~ equals a near death blow. And you get to draw a card to boot! Seriously though I think the Chimera has some potential in the right deck.

I'm eyeballing the card as well and love the fact that it has Trample. Something one of my other favorite pet decks finisher's didn't have although the casting cost and toughness is exactly the same. Yup he reminds me of the Wee Dragonaut and I think he'd rock in a Y. Pyromancer type deck as alot of the spells in Vintage are Instants/Sorceries (Force/Missteps/Drains/Card Draw/Tutors/etc).
The fact that he is neutered by Dredge hate is a bummer, but it's already boltable or a REB target. It's no Tinker>Bot next turn win but has to be dealt with quickly as I imagine it can be a clock in the right deck.
I see it listed as Spellheart Chimera and not Demonheart, am I incorrect?
Steam Augury seems interesting as well. A new FoF? EoT SA!

Nice job Adam! I played Adam Rd. 1 and jumped out to a quick lead with a turn 2 Tinker into Voltaic Key with Mana Crypt being my victim after it cast Time Vault for me. Post board I had 7 pieces of hate (1x MD Nihil already) to attempt to stop Zombies eating my brains. Zombies did just that g2. Game 3 saw him use an early Chewer on a Mox to try to keep me off Tolarian mana (Tormods onboard). I slip in Time Vault and can win next turn with Tezzeret in hand. He Cabals missing but drops another Bazaar and digs out Chewer #2 to crush my chance at Tezzeret victory. Nice games Adam!
Jeff H. (FoB) mathematically elimanates me from any dream of a positive record after that, 2-0. Mental Missteps sit idle while he Mana Drains my Bob/Snapcaster etc. and he always has the FoW to trump my FoW in both games. Nice. I believe he probably ran the same list (or close) to Webster.

Nice job Jeff! You try and get all these people to come out and then you don't let them play any spells. I'm starting to see a strategy there... I headed out myself a tad over an hour early but got boned in the funnel getting out of Sac briefly and paniced and called ahead early asking for 10-15min's if possible. No problem was the reply, sweet! I then proceeded to interpret Peabody as the exit/entrance off I-80 and later found it's East only ENTRANCE and had to ask 2 old timers (older than me anyways) on bikes on where Peabody was in relation to me and got kind Vacavillian directions and showed up 10-15 late as I thought. a few closer players were on the way and got a few extra minutes until the start (1:30ish). Let the games begin. Rd 1 Alex with Oath 2-0'd him on pretty much on the back of turn 1 Mox/Land/Bob and Force and opponent mulli's. Happens to everyone, just not all the time. Against my 3 opponent the mulli blues happened to me a game or 2 maybe. He did have quite a NErDy shirt but how can I speak in a green 311 shirt. Tokens and Bob beats is ok with me. Rd 2 Michael L. with Oath (2nd place list) Griselbrand winds up doing the job that didn't get done Rd1 in game 1. Force's/Misstep action/Fluster etc and then my Timetwister helps him a turn faster than I could win. On the losing end of a 2-0, or 0-2 if you're keeping score. Rd 3 Frankie M (BobSnap Control) (3/4 list) 7 lands no mana, meh. 6 and no mana, wtf. 5 and a Sap and a Sensei top, that will have to do, it's workable if the Top gets me a land. not today sir as I find out. I get 2-0'd after I scoop the first game quickly (he has active Bob and Top shows me the stink). Game 2 he has the Bob/Force/Misstep/Pierce? etc back-up. I underestimated not having Mental Misstep in my build or board. I think I kill myself with my own Necropotence (only at 5, possible Crypt flip damage, inbound Snaps or something). My sciatica is bothering me anyways and I need smokes so I stretch out with a jaunt to 7-11 for the second time that day. And also the second 0-2 reporting, ironic. Rd 4 Brandon (Fish) T8 list Game one Stony Silence shuts of all the pretty jewels and other shiny stuff. Tarmogoyf gives me 3 hits (thats all you ever need man) and 18 life becomes zero with the aide of Heirarch 5/6>6/7 attack! Game 2 I pull off with Future Sight getting on the board late after getting early Bob and then the next best thing, double Bob. 1-1 Game 3 is another long haul and Sight see's light again although the grafdigger did have it on a short leash. There was an oversight with Snapcaster though and looking back on the turn or 2 before it gave me an extra Recall. I had been beating with bob/snap duo mostly before Sight popped on board. I finally get out from under Grafdigger/Stoney with Hurkyl and Chain of Vapor before showing Will + uberbroken board state. I could have gotten the Rd win and a 2-1 in games but at 2-2 and 6 points it would take a miracle to get into T8, and this ain't no Grateful Dead show, so no miracles today most likely. He did have his shot at the sun though and made T8. I scoop to him as I don't want a tarnished win either with 1 gamestate mistake. Was it the right thing to do? It's just cards in the end and not quite poker either so... My sciatica thanks me anyways and I pick up a pizza for the family on the way back. There are no losers here I think. (Looking back it's quite possible the cage wasn't in play when the Snappy/Recall happened. He did have Stony Silence while my moxen/Probasco Vault sat idle and the Grafdigger came very late (but pre-Sight) which was mentioned and then it drew the Snapcasters target into question several turns after the fact at that point. I had Hurkyk's and a Force in hand quite awhile and fought the urge to pitch it knowing it would serve the better purpose once a bomb arrived and believe I used a Chain as well sometime that game.) Unofficial 2-2 drop, heh or however you want to read it. 1-3 if you're keeping score at home. I'll bring more permission (and Oath hate) next time and probably face Shop all day. Thats how it goes sometimes.

Yeah, I've just been conditioned for Sunday tournaments, and no one made me realize otherwise when planning this...
Good news is they have 18 players. ::cries::
And that was without LSV and Ochoa and other NorCal regulars that I thought I'd see in attendance. *Cough Corey*. Thought I'd see him there since he's a Bay area resident. I called on the way from Roseville to see if they'd hold it up a few when it came to a crawl in West Sactown. At least there was some locals who called as well and it didn't start until 1:30-1:45 ish. Look for Lotusheads report and pics to possibly be late tonight. He was doing pretty well and able to draw in the last couple matches I believe. Good luck Jeff.

I'm looking forward to some Vintage myself. As a bonus this time it's on a weekend that my wife is off (every other weekend) so I can take her economical car (V6 L300) vs my gas guzzler's (V8 Durango -n- Straight 6 F150). Plus gas prices are the best they've been in awhile. Anyone coming from Sactown/Roseville area can hit me up for a ride as thats my stomping grounds.

This might seem a lil overboard, but the new phyrexia enchantment:
Phyrexian Unlife 2w Enchantment Rare You don't lose the game for having 0 or less life. As long as your life total is 0 or less, all damage is dealt to you as though its source had infect.
once your at 0 life, this allows free draws off confidant, but would make all ur lands give u poison counters, but by the time your at 0 life you "should" have enough creatures out to finish the game anyways I would think.
Just a thought.
I wouldn't play a card that gained me 10 life for 2W, so I wouldnt play this. The difference being that it's not lifegain with the Shadows dependance on you not having life. Consequently a drawback to DS is having 2x in play at the same time vs. Swords to Plowshares. The lifegain will be enough at any life total to make the second DS a 0/0 thereby 2-for-1 trading. Just a thought. Question with the "negative life points". So you are at -2 life and have a Death's Shadow in play. Is it a 13/13 or a 15/15? Mathematically speaking if you subtract a negative number it adds it instead (13 ~minus~ -2 = 15) Just curious.

Needs more Wee Dragonauts, takes more spells but has better evasion and it pitches to FoW, lolz. That said I'm not sure that the loss of Merchant Scroll can be revived with worse creatures and Gitaxian Probe. I'm thinking Fire/Ice over Bolt as well, multiple targets it could effect, option of tapping phat down a turn, Scroll-able so any Tutor gets it, and ..it pitches, thee.
I think you want Duress (all) in the board, not both Seize/Duress as 4x colors mana base looks stretched beyond an untimely Wastelands repair.

Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Magosi revisted
|
on: March 22, 2011, 11:34:45 am
|
So I found an old thread on Magosi and couldn't really make out if it WAS possible to gain infinite Time Walks with Magosi. The cards in question are: Magosi, the Waterveil |Land| Magosi, the Waterveil enters the battlefield tapped. / T: Add U to your mana pool. / U, T: Put an eon counter on Magosi, the Waterveil. Skip your next turn. / T, Remove an eon counter from Magosi, the Waterveil and return it to its owner's hand: Take an extra turn after this one. Amulet of Vigor |Artifact| Whenever a permanent enters the battlefield tapped and under your control, untap it. · WWK-R,Vin,Leg,Ext,Std,Cla,NewStd,ZENBC Candelabra of Tawnos |Artifact| X, T: Untap X target lands. Rings of Brighthearth |Artifact| Whenever you activate an ability, if it isn't a mana ability, you may pay 2. If you do, copy that ability. You may choose new targets for the copy. So Magosi is untapped with no Eon counter. Tap it to "Skip your next turn". Untap it with Candalabra (or D. Temple, Magus of Candelabra, etc.). Tap it to use the "Take an extra turn" and in response copy it with Rings of Brighthearth. Magosi goes back to hand and is ready to be played again next turn, or this turn if you haven't dropped a land. Is it infinite turns from there on out if you have 2x "Take an extra turn" effects while only 1x "Skip your next turn"? Basically, is it the same as Time Walk, Meditate, Time Walk #2 (Warp etc)? What happens with 2x cast Walks in a turn and 1x cast Meditate? -Confused-

So I was looking for a nice Legacy port (unfortunately no clamp) and came up with this card for your Skullclamp: Tukatongue Thallid |Creature -- Fungus| 1/1 When Tukatongue Thallid is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, put a 1/1 green Saproling creature token onto the battlefield. · ARB-IP,CON-C,CON-IP,Vin,Leg,Ext,ALABC,Cla Can the token it creates from dying draw cards off being equip'd as well? Hit's the GY triggers, etc? Looks like 4 cards for 1 if so, 5 if you draw a card off Glimpse as well.

Well I can say I got to play at the Eudemonia P9 series finally. I did the old 1-2,1-2,1-2 aka 0-3 drop. I was paired vs. the 2x 5 color Stax decks during those 3 rounds and did a big boo-boo opting to leave a Hurkyl's at home thinking I wouldn't see alot of prison. Instead I rounded up some Karakas (to bounce an Iona or Marit Lage token) thinking these might be popular, oh well. Did see alot of different decks though with Bloodghasts, Ichorid, etc.
Nice to meet you potato, thanks for helping me out pre reg with my proxy/alter questions etc. (Ryan R as well) .Thanks for the gg's as well, as I was hoping to steal that g3 against you with Y.Will next turn but got Tangled in Wires! instead.
I did have one small bit of luck on the day though. I bought some nice crisp sleeves and it was under the $10 min ATM purchase so I grabbed a pack of Zen to push it over the edge and cracked a Scalding Tarn. Still needed 2 more so it was a score.
Hopefully I'll get to bring another deck down another time!

Shouldn't P. Yam's decklist be a Dark Depths/Hexmage combo deck rather than "BUG" Fish as listed? Interested to see if Mindbreak Trap was any good in the SB for Cory, as well as Ravenous Trap's for some of the other decks? Better than Tormod's Crypt vs. Dredge?
Some interesting decks none-the-less, with a diverse T8. I had the green light to go to this one, but unfortunately, being the DD the night before, I got to bed extremely late and was 2-0'd by the alarm clock. Perhaps the next one I will be more ready for.

So they owe you 5 Force of Wills if I read that correct? And you'd be happy with 1x? Myself I'd want everything that was mine to begin with. New teammates?
