i think "Vintage Worlds" would be awesome. Like Invitation only and like bracket wise. Or "Teams 2k6" lol.

MWS would definitely be a must, and it would be amazingly popular! WTF?

19  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Should Gifts be Restricted? An outsider's perspective. on: November 01, 2006, 12:12:21 pm
nope. A skill intensive card means that it is hard to play. Unlike Ancestral, you dont just pay a blue and draw three, you need to choose your own fate. Like mortal Kombat. "FIGHT"!

21  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Premium Article] Tweaking (and further exploring) Meandeck Gifts on: October 12, 2006, 01:31:29 pm
BMG vs MDG isn't a matter of consistency - its more a case of aggro vs control. BMG is in my experience more flexible, not too bothered by hate cards, and with a better capability of generating card advantage and overwhelming other Drain decks. MDG is more aggressive, able to combo off faster (hence your "more consistent" assessment), but its more vulnerable to hate and particularly mana denial strategies and tends to be weaker vs other Drain decks that actually run Duresses and real draw engines. The differences are subtle and sometimes not even noticeable, but there are there. Neither approach is particularly superior, but I've always felt like BMG offered better chances at outplaying stronger Drain or combo playing opponents along with waker players that might favor the mana denial strategies.

You're right. If anything, I think You might have the roles reversed a little bit.. Our Version of Gifts is "the combo" deck compared to MeanDeckGifts. in Every scenario, even back in the belcher and flame vault days, GGifts was faster than MDG, and wins every control match. It doesnt lose to a duress, and has the best draw engine that can be acheived. Tweaking MDG for timespiral? was it viable before timespiral? i dont remember seeing it have the same results lately as other versions of gifts.
22  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Testing the Unknown. on: September 27, 2006, 10:55:48 am
You're Playing Gifts. End Of Story.

What My oppenent is playing usually doesnt make a big difference, it sometimes however decides the tempo. If youre Playing gifts, hopefully youve made the right meta game calls with your meta-slots, and besides that, theres not much you can do. Win?

24  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Starcitygames Boston Update Thread on: September 20, 2006, 01:35:44 pm
so SCG boston is over, and there were a couple of things ive never seen before.

1) stax winning?

2) me losing in the top 8 due to time infringements? Everyone there late saturday night heard me yell due to "time limit" in the top 8. The Situation:

Its Game three and my oppenent has a necro on the table, a full hand and is at one. I have like eight mana on the table but only a single black source.Recoup in yard along with a couple merchant scrolls, and its my turn. I draw DT. So I Think for about a minute and half to two minutes about whether to tak my chances and scroll up a drain and hope he doesnt have two threats or attempt to dt and win the game, presuming he doesnt have misdirection in hand. So after two minutes, i go for the DT. I arrange a plethora of options some being - ancestral, tinker, timewalk, tendrils, drain, etc..
The judge informs me that i have 15 seconds to search or i "fail to find". I quickly take time walk. figuring i have three turns to just "draw" anything. I end up losing, after figuring out that lotus would have won the game for me. SIgh
25  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: 1st Starcity Boston Day one w/ 5cc Uba on: September 20, 2006, 01:26:37 pm
lolz. Congrats. After pairings went up for like round four, i told you, that for all the times ive pizowned of you, youre due. Like the time in philly with the chalice for three..sigh..

CONGRATS TO JEFF GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENE!
26  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: DAVE FEINSTEIN... DESTROYER OF WORLDS! *SCG Report- 3rd Day 2* on: September 20, 2006, 01:24:37 pm
2) Nate Pease.  Some people like him, some people don't.  Doesn't matter either way, he's still on an unbelievable tear right now.  Of the past four SCG's, he top 8'd 3 of them.  Both days South Carolina and Day 1 Boston.  He also top 8'd day 2 of Waterbury.  He's probably the best gifts player in the format.

Im not going to argue =)

Game one day two went a little more like me dting for maindeck Pyroblast, and then blasting a mage naming "tinker" and then tinkering all while at one life.

Game two went...

DF- "ill keep"

Me - Me too.

land, isamaru, go. Rip library!?

YUP. GG

in all "zur's" TO DAVE FEINSTEIN!
27  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Sideboarding with gifts against PithLong on: August 22, 2006, 09:24:17 pm
Werd. This deck needs Improvement.

1. The Maindeck.

Try running the Tri-Fecto: Rebuild, Hurks, ANd Chain. Truth is just not as good in a "combo-deck". Three Scroll and Three Gifts Is Good Enough. You Only Need One Gifts to win the Game, and Gifting for other Gifts is pretty un-affective.
My Maindeck is still Amazing and still tools on tools.

2. The Chaclice Is Insane In The Board. Hence, the reason i Played It =) .
I Usually side out (being on the play obv.) Setting it to 1 Is ALMOST GG on the draw and 0 on the play.

Being Honest, As being a Gifts Player and having ALOT of success, Listen when i tell you that GGifts has NO (ZERO) Game Against The new Pitch long variants.

Mox Pearl,
Lava Dart,
2 Gifts

For

4 Chalice

And Maybe a Single REB

The rest of the board..

4 chalice
2/2 Reb/Pyroblast
2 Seal Of Removal
3 RnR
1 RRiver
1 FISHY META CARD

Sideboard(15)
1 Pyroclasm
1 Rolling Earthquake
1 Tendrils of Agony
1 Tormod's Crypt
4 Chalice of the Void
3 REB
1 Pithing Needle
1 Darkblast
1 Rack and Ruin
1 Hurkyl's Recall

Not Trying to be a jackass, but this is muy terrible.
I wouldnt waste two sideboard slots lo fish. The Only Cards making sense are The Chalice and REB's.(which i would play four of.)

RnR is the house against a plethora of decks, so two should be ideal. A random and singleton T.Crypt is wicked Janky. Same With The Single Needle.
The Odds Of drawing the one TC are FAr Worse then them Finding and resolving Will.

Think Of this, What is Tormod's Crypt in the board for?
- If Your answer is Dragon and random Control Decks and MAybe Combp Then Why Not Seal Of Removal? It Auto wins the Dragon matchup and oath has no game with it on the table, hence improving two fairly tough matchups.

Reb Against Combo.
You - Fetchland Go.
Them - Rit,Rit,mox bargain?
you- Reb?
them- GG

Its not a very good game plan against Combo. Unless you find cards in the main that are worse than rebs, than keep them in the board, for other control decks.

And Sundering Jerk <3's Beta Time Walks...

Until next time,

30  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: "Wait, this wasn't a Legacy Tournament?" A First Place Finish at TMD 10 on: July 31, 2006, 11:35:37 pm
Dave is a friend and a great player.  He made back to back pro tours and he is very proud of that, as he should be, I am glad to tell everyone that I was part of Pro Tour Hawaii.  Which I think is much better then PT Prague, and PT Charleston just because its in frigin Hawaii.  We both know what each other is playing so it will be a fun match.  Not sure how it should go because I know he has some Jittes coming in for me.

Game 1  He gets a quick start and I stabilize with two Mongrels while Im at 3.  I brainstorm and put back a Life from the Loam and keep a Kudzu in my hand.  On his next turn he attacks with three two power guys and I have to chump block but I messed up my brainstorm because I am forced to discard my Kudzu to keep my Puppies alive.  I lose a few turns later when he draws more guys and I dont
Game 2 I run over him pretty easily with a mongoose and threshold, hard to answer that little trooper.
Game 3 I keep dropping guys and they keep getting StP away, eventually I am about to stabilize but he drops a Jitte and thats the end of this match.

Actually i believe that you lost this match, because while your mana-base was two moxen, i call out (and jedi motion) "rip null rod". And then Back to  back wastelands THAT I CALLED!

Congrats rich! (you scrub)...
