Congrats on the top 8, J.T.  Are you running Vault/Key in your Oath list?  I didn't see it come down in the few games we played Friday.

up...and by the way, I've added the recent donations to the list.  Thanks to everyone who has helped out with this.

Are proxies allowed?  If not, can somebody loan me Moat?
Moat pwns my face so...sorry.  Proxies would be cool though.

You play there?  I will buy Moats just to come and smash you!
Ummm...yep.  I tend to play where ever Legacy is being played.  Pandemonium quit hosting it and Melee closed so it's off to A^2 I go.  It's a really nice shop but parking kinda sucks.  Last time I was out they had a really nice selection of older singles come in including some power.  Maybe even a Moat.  Hmmm.  I should probably beat you to it so I don't have to see it on the other side of the table any time soon.

As far as smashing me goes, that's like Magneto VS Wolverine.  You'll never get a concession out of me and my Aggro deck of the moment but eventually I do just lose to Counterbalance/Top and Moat.
4  Archives / Tournament Announcement Forum / Re: Legacy and Vintage @ RIW Hobbies, Livonia Mi. January 24-25 Mox Sapphire & Ruby on: January 06, 2009, 07:40:48 pm
This is pretty sweet, Demars.  I'd definitely be there (at least for the Legacy) if I wasn't already committed to Cryptic ConFusion and its respective MtG events which are scheduled the same day(s).

I called RIW and Pam said she thinks the entry fee for Saturday is $15 and that the prize might end up being cash.  She also said this is going to be a monthly thing on the last weekend of each month.  Sounds friggin awesome.  I could surely use a place to play some serious Legacy.

Crytic Confusion Details:
"ConFusion" is returning once again to the beautiful Detroit-Troy Marriott.  This year, I decided to volunteer to up the gaming awesomeness by coordinating events staff, local dealers, and prize support for 3 days of Magic the Gathering with the main event taking place on Saturday, January 24th, 2009 being a Legacy Duel for Donations.

ConFusion is a science fiction literature convention that has been taking place annually for 35 years now.  Expected attendance this year is 800!  24 hour Gaming, Anime, room parties, and even a roving pirate ship equipped with chrismas lights, stereo system and operational cannons…did I mention this thing doubles as bar that takes their party all over the hotel?

This is a totally grass roots set of  MtG events running off the energy of volunteers and donations.   Donations of any kind, Legacy staples, duals, foils, altered art, etc. are needed.  I don't care if all you can spare is a Rod of Spanking...we need those too!  Everything we get will be given away as prizes.  Please post with whatever comments, suggestions, and donations you might have.
9  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: DUALS FETCHES and GOYFS, OH MY!!!!!-09/08/07 on: September 07, 2007, 11:58:22 am
I'll be playing completely untested jank again this time.  Yet another one of my stoopid concoctions.  See ya'll there.

BTW, Vivec, I'd take the Goyf's right now because of how easy they'd be to sell.  Cash is good.  Not that Duals and fetches are hard to sell or anything, it's just that Goyfs are hotter than a whores ass on dollar day.
10  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: DUALS FETCHES and GOYFS, OH MY!!!!!-09/08/07 on: August 30, 2007, 02:29:37 pm
So I called Brandon and Kilz88 and we arranged an actual prize setup for this.  KC will update the original post to reflect the changes.
11  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: NEW MEANDECK OPEN - SANCTIONED LEGACY!!!!!! SEPT 2, 2007 on: August 30, 2007, 11:44:15 am
Sorry guys, I'm backing out of this one.  I just can't justify a 4 hour drive when there are now two local tourneys, Garden City and Flint, within the next few weeks.  Beside that, it's Labor Day weekend and I just bought a house on almost 2 acres, i.e., there will be bonfires and drunkeness.  Good luck to the rest of the Michigan guys, I'll drink one for you.
12  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: NEW MEANDECK OPEN - SANCTIONED LEGACY!!!!!! SEPT 2, 2007 on: August 03, 2007, 11:47:29 am
...Price to get in?  I might have to go there and bring the big guns... and my friends.
Keep in touch, will you?  KC, Chris, You and whoever else in MI, can all meet somewhere and pile in my van for this...as long as I can friggin make it.
13  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: MOX TOURNAMENT, SAT. JULY 28, FLINT, MI on: July 28, 2007, 08:04:06 am
Dammit Jon.  I PM'ed Paul and never heard back from him.  Would have a spot for you too if I would've known earlier.  If you happen to be looking at this and then call me quick as hell, I can meet you at RIW about 9:30.

In fact we'll swing by RIW on the way anyways.  PM you my number
14  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: Detroit Grand Prix Trial at Pandemonium THIS SUNDAY on: April 16, 2007, 12:59:37 pm
It was also the first time Faerie Stompy has been played at Pandemonium.
Whats really too bad is that you've been missing Thursday nights.  Otherwise you'd know Fairy Stompy has been rearing its ugly head as of late.  Last week, I 2-0ed every match except F.S.  I was playing RGW Zoo and Jeremy had Chalice in his opening grip in all three games.

Thanks for posting the link to the decklists, Paul.
15  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: Detroit Grand Prix Trial at Pandemonium THIS SUNDAY on: April 15, 2007, 10:19:37 pm
...So I showed up a little late, but I brought my camera.  Here's MasterShake VS CelestialChild in the quarters.  Truffle Shuffle VS Landstill.  Game one took an hour.

Josh waiting patiently for the Landstill/Truffle match to be over.

I suppose now is as good a time as any to mention the match loss Josh got for falling asleep in his car.  It didn't stop him from winning the Booster Box and the 3 round bye.  Grats.
16  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Detroit Grand Prix Trial at Pandemonium THIS SUNDAY on: April 09, 2007, 02:27:55 pm
WotC has the wrong date posted...the Detroit GPT for GP Columbus is to be held this Sunday, April 15th.  Here's a link to help get it straight.

This is the correct info right off the Professional Events website.

http://www.professional-events.com/WotC%20Events/GPTColumbus07/GPTCol-Det041507.htm

WotC has been notified of the problem (they have it listed as 4/29/07). Unfortunately, their web admin ...or whoever... has not updated the site yet.

Feel free to PM me or contact Professional Events if you have any questions.
17  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: [Annoucement] Grand Prix Trials For Columbus Updated on WOTC site on: March 25, 2007, 08:21:40 pm
To whom it may concern, the date posted on Wizards website for the Detroit GPT at Pandemonium is currently wrong.  The actual date, scheduled by Professional Events Services is 4-15-2007.

Hey, Joe!  Glad to see you post this up on The Mana Drain.  You'll probably notice that most Michigan players post more frequently here.  Anyway, glad you posted and see you there.

I'm still thinking about making the Columbus trip. Nothing would make my Sunday more than losing in consecutive rounds to Demars and Nicolo. Sad

Now Im really dissapointed I can't make it...  So many noobs Ill need to mise later.

If I recall correctly, I beat you Wink
If by "beat" him you mean you won the race to kiss Demar's/Nicolo's ass the most...yep...you are the winnar.

I'll come get you if you can't get a ride otherwise, Rich.  Please try to find other means though, it's really out of the way.
23  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: [announcement] The Next Meandeck Open LEGACY Columbus OH 1/21 on: January 15, 2007, 11:47:55 pm
I wish I could say I was going but I will be at Con-Fusion all weekend.

     -2 Kids
     + 1 Wife
     + 1 Hotel Room for 2 nights.

This plan is waaaaaay better than magical cards in ohio.
24  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: [Announcement] MOX RUBY 2-18-07 Sanctioned Legacy, Garden City MI on: January 09, 2007, 03:36:12 pm
Well I got some scans of the actual card Pandemonium is giving away.  It has definitely seen unsleeved play but whatever, it's still a nice playable Ruby.

As for Grand Prix Trials for the Legacy GP coming up later in the year ... yes, we will be hosting said events ... I just can not release the tournament dates until Wizards says it's ok to do so.

25  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: Legacy Tournament, Jan 7th , Garden City MI, 4x Force of Will, 4x Meddling M on: January 08, 2007, 02:34:31 pm
Holy shit!

Darren actually Top 8'ed??? A+, sir, A+.

Maybe I'll actually have to test that Survival list...

Also, what was the field like?
Hell Yeah he did!  Thats a HUGE improvement from the first tournament we ran at Pande, when he got the Rod of Spanking for worst overall record.

I personally went 2-2 on the day with the worst R/G beats deck I could've possibly thrown together the night before the event.  I guess I should be happy that I had even brought it because I had unknowingly left part of my UGw board at home...duh.  I scooped to Spencer (not like I could've beaten Salvagers with RG beats anyway) and my only other loss came at the hands of Phil Cape...hmmm both of those guys split for first so maybe my deck didn't suck so bad after all.  (thinking for a moment)  Nope, it still sucks.

The other two 5-8th decks were Vivec (playing UGw thresh) and Grego (playing Scepter Chant)

@KrzyMoose.  The field was awesome in its diversity.  In addition to the Top 8 of:

RDW
Salvagers Combo
Sligh
RGSA
IGGy
Truffle Shuffle
Scepter Chant
UGw Thresh

there was also

Vial Goblins
UR Fish
Magnus Combo (the deck that almost broke Legacy)
Mono Black Control (pre Damnation.  Why???)
RG beats
WU weenie

Storm Combo made up a solid 20-25% of the field.  I saw only 2 UGw thresh and only 1 Vial Gobs.  23 players total, I believe.
26  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: Legacy Tournament, Jan 7th , Garden City MI, 4x Force of Will, 4x Meddling M on: December 30, 2006, 03:06:44 pm
Here's a friendly bump... err reminder that this is indeed a week away...  I'd like to definately get a bigger turnout than the November tourney...
The only thing that can stop us now is a hell of a snow storm.  PS3 and Wii have already been released so we're all good.  See everyone there.  I'm really geeked up about this one for some reason.
27  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: [Announcement] MOX RUBY 2-18-07 Sanctioned Legacy, Garden City MI on: December 28, 2006, 11:50:44 pm
You know what Caboose?  I can kind of understand where you are coming from with this.  I was playing in MtG tournaments when they were all single elimination and  I friggin hated getting knocked out in the second round.  Swiss rounds make me happy cause even if I scrub out bad I can still keep playing the game.

28  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: [Announcement] Full Apoc Set/4x Underground Sea Tourney POSTPONED on: December 22, 2006, 09:50:01 pm
The mental image of Hi-Val drinking King Cobra out of a paper bag with Steve and Paul made me giggle.

Also, one of these days ICBM will make it to one of these MI events.  One of these days...
Well, you should make it the Mox tourney then.  Just sayin...
29  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: [Announcement] Full Apoc Set/4x Underground Sea Tourney Jan. 14th on: December 22, 2006, 12:54:16 pm
There are too many tourneys in Michigan.
Spoken like a true Buckeye.  Lol, "too many tourneys".  Lay off the drugs man.
While it would be nice for you, and as many other players as you can bring, to be able to show up for all of the tourneys in MI, we realize that people have a life outside of MtG.
I'll tell you what, if you show up to this event and bring at least one other player, Spencer will buy you your first beer.  Wait a minute, you're 21 right?  Anyways, the tourney is at the Black Lotus Brewing Co.  They serve beer, duh.  Beer and Cards...it's a match made in...Clawson.
