Vintage Community Discussion / Elder Dragon Highlander Forum / $2500 Baltimore Open EDH Side Event - March 13th, 2010
|
on: February 26, 2010, 11:16:37 am

Due to popular demand we are going to schedule an EDH side event in the afternoon of our $2500 Baltimore Open. We will try to start it around 3:00, or after the current round of the main event ends, in case anyone playing wants to drop and join the EDH. If everyone who wants to play is ready earlier than we'll start when everyone is ready. Entry Fee $10 Prizes: All fees paid will be split up into store credit for the top 4 players in the form of 40/30/20/10% for the top 4. Players will be split into pods, depending on the number of players. Winner from each will advance to the next pod. So if there are 16 players the winner of each will play in the final pod. If we have 3 pods the winner of each will advance and we will have a tie breaker to determine the 4th, either using a point method or some other way. Standard EDH rules and banned list will apply. Location of the event and other information on the $2500 main event can be found in the Standard forum under http://www.themanadrain.com/index.php?topic=39771.0

Just wanted to give some general updates. There is plenty of parking in the area, but we wanted to give some options if you don't want to pay for parking in Baltimore. Our hotel is next door to the convention center, so there are multiple ways to get here. 1. Light Rail. http://mta.maryland.gov/services/lightrail/Route Map - http://mta.maryland.gov/services/bus/schedule/LRMAP209.pdfThere is a stop for the convention center, which is only a few blocks walk to the hotel. The map shows all stops that have parking, many of them with free parking, so you can easily park outside of town and take that in almost right to the hotel. The light rail runs until 11:00 pm. Round trip fare is $3.20. 2. Metro subway - http://mta.maryland.gov/services/subway/Route Map - http://mta.maryland.gov/services/subway/schedule/MetroMap309.pdfThe closest subway stop I believe is Charles Center, but you would then have to take a bus from there to the convention center. This might not be a great option unless you are already in the city, in which case you probably don't need this info. Round trip is also $3.20. 3. Bus - http://mta.maryland.gov/services/bus/http://mta.maryland.gov/services/commuterbus/I'm not too good with the bus routes, but here it is. I know there are buses that take you to the convention center, but i'm not really sure from where. 4. Driving - you can drive straight to the hotel, but the parking is a little high, so if you do want to drive there are other options close by. It's right in the inner harbor, so the area is full of parking. It is city parking though, so it's going to run in the $25 range for the full day. If anyone knows the city well and has some other options for people please let us know. Thanks! And thanks to everyone who came to the Worldwake case tournament this past Sunday. And please don't hesitate to email us with any questions at all.

Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: 12/19/09 Standard/Extended $2,000 Baltimore Open Baltimore, MD - POSTPONED
|
on: December 18, 2009, 03:49:35 pm

Ok, we are going to postpone this event. I've been getting tons of emails of people telling me they can no longer make it. I REALLY hate to do it, as I was looking forward to the tournaments, but it seems like no one is going outside on Saturday and they probably shouldn't, so we will talk to the hotel and try to postpone it to another date. I know it's last minute, so if anyone sees this please tell people you know who were still thinking of going. I GREATLY apologize for any inconvenience to anyone, but we just feel it's the right way to go considering the size of the storm coming straight for us. If you have any questions at all please email me at darkhelmet@gonetoplaid.com. Thanks and again, sorry. We will update with new dates hopefully in the week to come.

Thanks to everyone who attended. We had a great turnout of 44 players! As promised, because of the high turnout, we increased the prizes to the top 4 winners by adding two more mana drains to the prize pool, which seemed to please everyone. Aside from a little heat it was a great day and everything went off right on time. We promise for our next one on October 11th we will do our best to keep it cooler back there. We weren't expecting to have quite that many people so we will be more prepared for it this time around and try to keep it as comfortable back there as possible.
Congrats to our winners: 1st Place - Joe Davis - Unlimited Time Walk 2nd Place - Garrett Scheier - 3 Mana Drains (up from 2) 3rd Place - Nathan Thompson - 1 Mana Drain (up from $25 gift card) 4th Place - Jeremy Beaver - $50 gift card (up from $25)
The next tournament will be on October 11th at Round Table Games. We will be posting details by the end of the week hopefully.
If anyone would like to add specific match reports please do. We'd love to hear about some of the great matches.
