Is your demand issue really their problem?
2  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: TO Report: The Players Guild 08/24/13 on: August 26, 2013, 10:05:14 pm
Glad to see you do well with a sweet deck Rob! You're just too good to play shops (and fortunately not from New York)
3  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Eudemonia July Results! Lists! Pics! on: July 30, 2013, 02:47:52 pm
that's the kind of shady play that walks the line between cheating and abiding by the rules. I guess it's a difference in player preference. I wouldn't play my cards like that. I announce my triggers whenever I have them
4  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Eudemonia July Results! Lists! Pics! on: July 30, 2013, 02:22:10 pm
You have to still announce your chalice trigger. Not announcing it is just sloppy play because "everyone shortcuts" in vintage

Which I did after you got. Second wasteland from it and had. Golems plus tangle wire. I did weld your crucible and that was the play that cost me that game.
6  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: [TO Report] 7.20.13 - $2,000 Vintage Event - Part of TDG's 2013 Eternal Series on: July 29, 2013, 01:08:23 am
I'm pretty sure both of your wins involved crucible and wastelands or strip mines
7  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: [TO Report] 7.20.13 - $2,000 Vintage Event - Part of TDG's 2013 Eternal Series on: July 28, 2013, 03:49:55 am
I'm not sure how effective that plan is. It still gets destroyed by Welder if you're SoFaI isn't connecting the turn after he lands, and Bob still blocks. Strixis control has a much better game than Baleful Richards here as well, seeing as it has Shaman, Bolt, and more dedicated answers than relying on Strix + Welder/Clamp.

I like how u claim to have a better game against shops than dedicated strix. After 14 events I've lost a total of 4 matches to shops. All 4 have involved Crucible and Waste lock. 1 involved a resolved Trinisphere on turn 1. Also clamp doesn't stay in against shops (unless genesis chamber). I used to play bolt but it honestly isn't needed against shops, in fact it's grossly unimpressive.

How many matches did you sb? Because Null Rod grossly affects who the blue decks are forced to play
9  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: [TO Report] 7.20.13 - $2,000 Vintage Event - Part of TDG's 2013 Eternal Series on: July 25, 2013, 06:08:21 pm
To be fair, anytime my opponent plays workshops I feel grossly favored with strixes. Always have and probably will for quite some time. Can't beat turn one trinisphere or crucible strip or waste lock.

I think people just realize that the Mana Drain decks can and have adapted to fighting the Shops. NOt to mention that shops decks are just miserable to pilot and there really isn't much play to them. No card selection just what you draw. I'm not at all surprised to see shops being barely represented. I think it's also a regional thing. New Yorkers enjoy making people miserable. The rest of the East coast enjoys counting to 10. Some of us like to make an entire mockery by playing 62 maindeck cards and stupid SB cards. Champs will have plenty of shops so it will be able to weed out inbred meta decks

I would agree that your list is closer to a grixis control list that contains strix and welder

I can guarantee that my style of play was no more relaxed or nervous before or after the split. Everyone came out ahead in the split unless you would have won the entire event. Congrats to the Last Troll making an insane game 3 appearance

Let's just all make a gentleman's bet to play Baleful Strix alongside Domri Raid

Dredge isn't even a real deck. Barely beating out shops

I hope to get paired against Rob and Shawn Exclusively. No one else

It honesty depends what you are playing against. Ral shines on a cluttered board or as a second expensive key. However on an empty board he does just about nothing unlike either other Tezzeret. Big Tezz is a solid combo card but the agent is what drives the deck.  He digs for cards (hopefully strix) or he threatens to take down opposing planes walkers with a single activation. Ral has since been cut for a third agent. Unfortunately our red friend is sweet as opposed to integral to the decks success
17  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: TO Report: The Players Guild 05/04/13 on: May 08, 2013, 01:29:59 am
It's not about beating bomberman. Its that most players misunderstand how the matchup should be played and sb inappropriately. Kohler wont tell you how to beat him but its not difficult to figure out

So how do you guys suggest to support the format outside of more TO's holding more events?
19  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: [Top Deck Games] 5.11.13 - $2000 Vintage Event - Eternal Series & NYSE Qualifier on: May 02, 2013, 01:29:25 pm
If the players' problem is having TOO MANY events to choose from that sounds like a First World problem to me? I think its more along the lines of people only going to particular venues and ignoring others for whatever reason. For a format that claims to have a diehard player base it doesn't seem to reflect that with attendance.
20  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: The Players Guild - Credit and N.Y.S.E. Open Qualifier - May 4,2013 on: May 01, 2013, 01:08:48 pm
Only new cards I could imagine might some some fringe play just for playability sake would be
Far Away
Turn Burn
Zal
Notion Thief (SB)
Sin Collector (stupid fish decks)
and I would think that this would be a great event to play new cards at mostly because some vintage players just live under rocks and don't innovate. You can totally catch some people with Notion thief for about the first month and then after that I think it'll be useless
21  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: The Players Guild - Credit and N.Y.S.E. Open Qualifier - May 4,2013 on: May 01, 2013, 08:32:51 am
Yes I'm sure the results will reflect these interesting changes.

Who needs luck? The Bomberman himself says its the most skill intensive format around . . .
23  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: Mark's Comics Vintage w/ Ed Beard & N.Y.S.E. Open Qualifier on: April 29, 2013, 07:31:17 am
That prize support seem absymal.

Technically there is only ONE winner, but Joel has worked hard with those fishes and deserved to beat Kohler finally
25  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: The Players Guild - Credit and N.Y.S.E. Open Qualifier - May 4,2013 on: April 23, 2013, 07:31:59 am
Alright. Guess I've been served . . .
26  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: The Players Guild - Credit and N.Y.S.E. Open Qualifier - May 4,2013 on: April 23, 2013, 01:12:07 am
Is that a fat joke?
27  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: The Players Guild - Credit and N.Y.S.E. Open Qualifier - May 4,2013 on: April 22, 2013, 12:24:35 pm
I would totally make the trip if there was a decent resturant to eat at. And I won't be able to give Mr. Griffiths a hard time about his performance . . . Doesn't seem worth it to me
28  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: MVPLS vintage event 4-13-13 on: April 18, 2013, 10:56:51 am
What I'm saying is the cuts were NOT dependant on an expected meta. But rather Inbred Bias because Kohler likes Jace and Mana Drain
29  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: MVPLS vintage event 4-13-13 on: April 17, 2013, 09:36:57 pm
And since you didn't have to play it it didn't really matter
Also if you think that Shops would have been more relevant I don't know why you would choose to play flusterstorm . . .
30  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: MVPLS vintage event 4-13-13 on: April 17, 2013, 03:27:33 pm
I don't think cutting EE for a Heretic really qualifies as changing some meta relative cards. Did he even play the Heretic? I mean there were like 4 shops decks there.
