I sold out last year and almost feel the urge to come back. If I had a computer that ran MTGO better, I'd do it. But the whole experience was so excruciating to me that I can't do it (I have a Mac and had to run MTGO through VirtualBox and it ran very badly).

Sorry about that. I have the exactly same setup but I have basically never experienced any problems with the setup on three different macs. Guess im lucky.

But seriously I feel wotc should support OS X. I dont see a reason why not to.

I remember reading somewhere that you can borrow cards on mtgo. Is there some sort of enforced lending setup, where the person you give your cards has to give them back at a designated time? Or is it just using the trading mechanics and the honor system to enforce the deal?

I have a pretty big Vintage and Legacy collection. I have loaned cards to two people I know and trust + once for Julian Knab as he needed a playset of Groves for his stream. Every time I have recorded the trade with screencapture software.

Thanks for the spreadsheet! Looks useful. I will use the list to build my own spreadsheet to manage my Vintage/Legacy modo collection.

Looking through the lists I saw a Cabal Pit there and it caught my eye. I have never seen that card before and could only find a legacy pox list that runs it. What's the cards function in Vintage and has it seen play recently?
5  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Suggestions For Improving the Online Vintage Experience on: October 05, 2015, 12:01:40 am

On a side note, does anyone run MTGO on a Mac?  Making MTGO Mac friendly seems like a good suggestion.  Otherwise I'd have to buy and install "parallels" and "windows" and I don't even know if I'll have any room on my computer for MTGO after all that.

I do. Please hit with a PM if you need assistance on that matter

I almost forgot to update, but I have been fully powered on modo for about a month now. Also have Bazaars, shops and most of the staples to build almost anything in the format Smile

Great podcast as usual! I have been testing the Dredge deck with transformational sideboard in mtgo and its a fun deck to pilot, but requires some practice and skill.

Just got all the cards for this in mtgo. Looks interesting!
9  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: MTGO Play Points & changes to Dailies on: July 25, 2015, 03:13:18 pm
Thiim quite many botchains buy whole collections. You just need to make a csv out of your collection and send it to them. See their websites for instructions. I got best price from dojo recently for my bulk
10  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: MTGO Play Points & changes to Dailies on: July 24, 2015, 11:52:42 am
mtgotraders just tweeted that mtgo sellout is now past us and people are actually buying cards again (well ORI was also released today).

I cashed out earlier as well. Cardhoarder was offering 2% less than they originally would due to the spike of people selling out their collection.

I literally also sold all my bulk (non eternal playables) around 15K cards last week. Luckily so, now those cards would have earned me maybe 10% less. Which actually leads to that I might need to invest some singles while prices are now at low point.

I haven't had a lot of time to play lately and mainly use MTGO to test out my paper decks. My LGS have been hosting monthly vintage events, which is the frequency I'm able to join the dailies anyway. The client have been abysmal to me lately and it doesn't make much sense for me to try and put up with it. I also, don't want to lose anymore money due to the potential of prices plummeting, us early vintage adopters already lost a couple of hundreds due the P9 and fetches price drops.

I have been happy with the client and the ability to play Vintage, Legacy and Pauper. I don't have LGS though, I am not sure if I would prefer paper mtg if I had...

Hoping that the MTGO play points would somehow be the online currency for MTGO in the future and that it would replace event tickets all together. Also hoping that they would create some sort of online market place for people to buy and sell their cards. There is no reason for us to depend on MTGO bots to handle the secondary market. I would be happy to reinvest my money, if and when, they all sort this out.

Bots are very efficient. Whats the problem there?
11  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: MTGO Play Points & changes to Dailies on: July 23, 2015, 04:31:09 am
I am still unsure how I feel about this. These changes don't have huge affect on me as I am not one of the players who goes infinite, I am just trying to enjoy the game and accept the fact that this hobby, much like any other hobby, has a cost related to it. Doing well on events meant that I was able to "slow bleed" my tix and actually I don't see that these changes really change that. If I do well I get more cheaper entries for future events, much like I did earlier, now I just don't have to trade tix to packs or packs to tix depending on if I want to play constructed or limited.

Im gonna give these changes some time before I want to take a hard stance on any direction.
12  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Eternal staples shortlist, does it exist? on: May 29, 2015, 07:11:36 am
Hi folks! I have started my process of going through my collection and I figured I would do some kind of a shortlist while im doing it. Thanks for all the links in here, facebook and twitter. Those have been useful! Here is a link to a pic that shows how the spreadsheet is going to look like. So basically I will go through each set and list all the cards that have potential for eternal play. I will assign them between 0-2 (+)-marks depending on if they are: ++ very playable; + playable/potentially playable and no + for cards that doesn't seem likely to see play in the format. I will assign +'s for each card in two categories: Vintage and Legacy.

Is anyone interested in commenting my + markers and maybe figuring out if I missed a card? When I have more data I could upload the spreadsheet for few people to go through and comment. I am also open to suggestions on the this whole idea in general.

Thanks for the help so far!

Personally, I have all of the cards that I think I will likely play in Vintage, but what about cards that are fringe playable or potentially become playable if something becomes un/restricted? I am interested to see what is put together and what makes the cut/is left off the list as there are a lot of cards that I could easily see being on or off the list depending on who you ask.

I started to write down cards from the recent sets and this is hard. What card is actually considered stable in a format? For example Reanimate in Legacy. Format stable or just a playable/possible playable card? It sees play in one deck? Iona, Shield of Emeria also sees play in that deck btw. Well how about Ugin, the Spirit Dragon then? It also sees play in one, although less popular deck. What about Tormod's Crypt that can be found from many different sideboards?

http://www.metamox.com/legacy/ results for those cards:
Reanimate 21
Iona 9
Ugin 11
Tormod's Crypt 14

For me personally this isn't really bothering, but interesting. I am still going to divide cards into staples and other playables. Other people can comment on those more when I show the "results".
14  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Eternal staples shortlist, does it exist? on: May 28, 2015, 02:07:01 am
I have found some resources already to back me up in this task.

http://www.metamox.com/legacy/
A list of most popular cards in competitive events in the last 90 days. I don't know where they pull the data, but seems legit and useful.

http://www.mtggoldfish.com/format-staples/vintage
If I understand correctly the site tracks mtgo tournaments. Useful starting point.

And I guess I must spends some time at http://www.morphling.de/

If you have any other resources to help me. Please post links here. Thanks!

Also, @yugular, perhaps your efforts could be put toward a TMD vintage staple list that the community can help upkeep.

Sure. I will look into this during weekend and post more here.

This list is going to potentially vary between long and extremely long depending on your interpretation of "playable in Vintage".

Personally, I have all of the cards that I think I will likely play in Vintage, but what about cards that are fringe playable or potentially become playable if something becomes un/restricted? Yeah, likely it should be divided into 2-3 categories.
16  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Eternal staples shortlist, does it exist? on: May 27, 2015, 02:26:15 am
I know Menendian used to upkeep a shortlist for Vintage staples, but is there somewhere a somewhat up-to-date shortlist for eternal staples? I am planning to clean sweep my mtgo collection (12-15K cards) and would like to leave in all cards that are staples or playable in Vintage and Legacy. But I am relatively new to the formats and I might be missing some cards as I don't have a ton of playing experience. A shortlist of staples would make my springcleaning much easier...
17  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Announcing Wasteland errr..... I mean Tempest Remastered for Magic Online on: May 27, 2015, 02:22:31 am
I really liked to draft this set. I drafted it twice with poor success, but the draft format was fun. Reminded a lot of some older core sets with decent removal, but the creatures are of course very different than nowadays. Wastelands are already climbing back up, if you needed Wastelands hopefully you bought them while they were low.
18  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Potential Idea: Cockatrice Vintage League? on: April 20, 2015, 10:53:47 am
Seems good idea. If it was mtgo and streamed I would watch it all!

Im really glad about the opportunity to finally play Vintage and mtgo is the one and only place for me to get to know the format. So far I only own 7/9 of the P9 though.

Did someone record any of this?

I would love to attend events like this, but I live in Europe which makes pretty much all time schedules poor for me Sad
23  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Eudemonia Old School 5/19 Results! Lists! Pics! on: October 14, 2014, 07:34:56 am
This looks fun! Who wants to play this format in mtgo? Too bad I live in a place where playing paper magic is not an option Sad
I wanted to play on MTGO, but there's a long list of cards that don't exist online... Chaos Orb, obviously one of them. We could try anyway, though - but not playing with the actual cards would probably cut the fun in half... Razz

Yeah... Still it should be fun to try one or two times..
24  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Aaron Forsythe asks how Wizards can support Vintage on: October 13, 2014, 02:42:24 pm
a system where players who could prove ownership of actual physical reserve list cards could get MTGO versions for free would be nice....never gonna happen but it's pretty much what's keeping me from buying in right now.  Hard to justify spending a couple thousand dollars on replicas of cards I already own.

I would be ok with that. As long as I get paper power because I own it in mtgo already.
25  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: So Many Insane Plays Podcast #39: Khans of Tarkir Vintage Set Review on: October 13, 2014, 11:47:22 am
Great episode as always. This set is very interesting for eternal formats for sure.

You have now done JOU report card twice. Are you gonna do M15 report card and when?

Great episode as always! mtgo is different than paper magic, but they are both great.

When can we expect KTK set review?
27  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Should I buy in MTGO? on: August 05, 2014, 04:47:19 am
Can I ask you guys one more question? Is it worthy to play VM drafts? Maybe that'll reduce a little my cost of entry... or not?

For the price of a one draft you can get a playset of some of the cheaper duals. I wouldnt draft if I dont have extra tix to burn and specifically enjoy the limited format.
28  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Should I buy in MTGO? on: August 03, 2014, 03:09:27 pm
I'm also using VirtualBox and a Windows 7 SP1. What's your hardware? I'm on a 2010 Macbook Pro (2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256MB). Until now if feels fine. Smile

I have late 2009 MacBook which works fine, and 1-month old very high end iMac which runs like a dream Smile
29  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Should I buy in MTGO? on: August 03, 2014, 12:32:53 am
I use VirtualBox with Mac to run mtgo. Have done it few years already and haven't had any issues. But the new client is still going under serious work and I have also heard that some setups just wont run it. So yeah, test first!
30  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Should I buy in MTGO? on: August 02, 2014, 06:25:48 am
@fsecco

Another way to buy cards is to put your money from the paper cards you sell to paypal and use paypal to buy cards from mtgotraders or other bots who have sites. For example paying with paypal will save 5% from you in mtgotraders.

Anyways. Now is definitely right time to buy in! Fetchlands and Wastelands are pretty much the only cards that will lose a lot of value when they put more of those into the system.
