1  Eternal Formats / Online Tournaments / Re: Magic Online Vintage Premiere Event, July 13th (Possibly First Ever!) on: July 13, 2014, 07:55:53 pm
...this is sound of me starting a slow clap...

in all seriousness, nicely done guys. my work schedule prevents me from participating currently - but I'm optimistic that this (and Beuhlers help?) could sway wotc to offer other more universally-friendly times.

I'll be going to this, as my ride options are now nonexistent in getting to the NYSE qualifier at TDG in NJ.

I'll have some cards to lend (blue duals, library, and potentially some misc power depending on what deck I settle on playing).

looks like Samoht's car might already be full. anyone passing through NY, that I could catch a ride with? I promise gas and toll $, as well as good personal hygiene and pleasant conversation.

fingers crossed as I usually get zero replies when I out the request ... please don't make me have to go play sanctioned vintage for a guru island when I could play proxies for NYSE q and better prizes!

thanks Nick D.

I'll definitely be going to this, barring any more carpool shenanigans.

though I gotta agree that late notice is not the best - especially when it's 5-6 hours' round trip for some. but with the incentives and prize pool, and that it's Nick Coss - it can be overlooked.

Just to verify - this event is a NYSE open 2 qualifier for top finisher in addition to other prizes - correct?

I ask because post makes no mention of this, but title says "qualifier".

if true, this would pull me away from sanctioned vintage in Brooklyn, NY with lesser prizes (given the much shorter commute for myself and that they scheduled may 31st nearly a month ago) for the shot to win in at NYSE open 2 and generally better prize pool and community at Nick Coss party despite the longer commute.

thanks.

I am looking to make my way back into the scene after a bit of a hiatus - trying to work out a ride with Samoht, if that falls through anyone else passing through NYC on way to this that I could get a ride with? Any LI people heading that way (FentonBot?)

I offer gas/toll $, company, and good personal hygiene.

And unfortunately, 9th is the best my breakers allowed me on this day.

Rob Edwards dream-crushed me into 10th during last round of Swiss, so I feel your pain.

Big Props to Mickey for the big win, and Dixon on another t8. nice to see my car-mates do well.

nice report Mickey.

congrats, again, on the t8.

I'm sure JP is happy you didn't mention his dubious musical choices in the car, or his massive crush on billy bob thorton.

Anyone going from NYC? I am looking for a ride. me and JP rode with Tom Dixon to NJ for the previous $2k Nick Coss party, but as he's going to GenCon we're looking for seats heading that way next Sunday.

We're obv willing to pitch for gas & tolls, as well as rocking deodorant and pleasant conversation.

another option, if there's anyone else out there also looking for a ride without access to  a car, is I can rent one for the day at $120 (gas included) - would just want to chop that up amongst everyone in the car. I am even willing to eat the lions share of that tab just to be able to get out there and play some more vintage.

so anyone interested in hooking us up either way - please let me know!
