Hi TheWhiteDragon, will do!

We have had 1 other vintage tournament in San Antonio, it was just after Christmas last year. I think there were 5 or 6 local San Antonio players, and the Austin players that came down for it from our group. Hannah at Dragons Lair was really cool and it was a win-a-box basically. We have been wanting to collaborate with her and D Lair again but offer up some more eternal prizes, hence the Time Vault, Mana Crypt, Wasteland, Fetch as prizes for this one.

Sorry to hear that you cant make it, but definitely would like to have you at the next one. As for your other friends who would play, please tell them about this one. We allow unlimited proxies, so no one is excluded. All of the prizes are actually being put up by one member of the Austin cabal out of his own pocket, so we want to make sure we have the best possible turnout. Please help spread the word locally!

Thanks,

Frank

I made an error in the 17 - 24 player payout. Now corrected.

8  Vintage Community Discussion / Community Introductions / Re: Introduce Yourself on: July 16, 2014, 01:34:09 pm
Hi everybody!

My name is Frank, 33, longtime nickname has been frankycuttlas (long story) so I go by Frank Cuttlas to many who know me.  Born and raised in Chicago, IL but have lived in Austin, TX for the last 8 years. When I was a kid the comic book store I hung out at had a few gaming tables and a few older dudes would play MTG there. Unlimited had just came out but the store was bought up quickly so a friend and I were only spectators until Revised was released. We each bought a starter deck and 2 boosters, and I was hooked. Played revised through Ice Age and managed to convert a 2nd friend to the game. After Ice Age was released both friends who played quit for different reasons and I was left with no one to really play with, so I stopped. At M12 I downloaded the stupid ipad game and got frustrated at all the limitations of it such as deck building and game play. Id try and play a combat trick as an instant and the game would move on to damage and I would lost my guy, etc. So I called around to a few LGS to see if they had the promo Grave Titan card as it was a free bonus. I went to one and the owner told me about the M12 pre-release which was just a few weeks away. I signed up and have been hooked since.

I only play Legacy & Vintage and I am addicted to foils. I had a huge collection of Modern cards, could play any deck in the format, but when they all spiked again and again, I decided to sell out of Modern completely and buy power as I knew Vintage Masters was coming and anticipated power getting even more expensive. I grinded my way to a full set of power in just under 1 month (it was exhausting).

My main goal with registering on TMD is to join into the local community events section. Sometime last year a few of my friends started a cabal, The Eternal Struggle, with a few Vintage enthusiasts and we began hosting our own Vintage tournaments with an unlimited number of proxies allowed (but we do have rules for acceptable proxies). We typically bring Vintage decks to events and jam side games as a way to encourage players to just try the format and help grow our local Vintage community. Between the 5 members of the cabal we have an L2 Judge, an L1 Judge, and and total of 3 members who can run our own WER. Our approach to any LGS who is willing to host our events is "We can bring our own judge, our own WER, and will handle everything, we just need the space." It has been up and down so far, but we are learning more with each event. Once I get more acclimated on here, I will post the details of our next event. Any and all are welcome!
