hey nice report, enjoyed reading it.
I wanted to come, but didnt find transport, and this time I did not want to take the train.
does anyone have the sneak attack emrakul deck? looks like fun!
I think Marcels bomberman deck is actually pretty good, he always goes top with that deck, and has won at least one tournament with it. its a deck no one expects, yet has most silver bullets that tez decks have for example.

btw stupid question probably but hasnt imperial seal become a lot worse now that Jace sees play? Kooaznboi1088:
I’m not sure you’ve actually tested the Dragon plan, and would guess you definitely haven’t played it as extensively as I did. 2x Hellkite and 1x Karrthus isn’t something I came upon randomly. Well, ok, maybe I came upon Karrthus randomly, but he serves a specific set of purposes. IF you are on my old Dragon plan:
1 – Sower is a generally a blank against dragons. If I Oath up Hellkite and smash you for 9 damage, putting you at, say, 9 life, and then you Sower my tapped Hellkite, I will either: a) Oath into Karrthus, stealing back my Dragon, who untaps and murders you, or b) Oath into another Hellkite, who attacks in for lethal unless you block with Sower… which means I get my Hellkite back.
2 – Jace is a blank if your whole deck is haste dragons. You can either a) Attack into Jace, killing it, or b) attack in for damage, let them bounce, then Oath again and attack in for damage.
3 – Duplicant is really weak against Dragons. I Oath into Hellkite and smash for 9. You play Duplicant and get an 8/8 that doesn’t fly, but is still a Dragon. Now, I either a) Get another Hellkite and attack for 9 again, or b) Get Karrthus, who steals your duplicant dragon back and gives it Haste, and attack for lethal with Karrthus + Duplicant.
4 – Bounce spells ARE a problem, however, the use of Inkwell went a long way towards solving that problem because people moved away from Echoing Truth / Chain of Vapor towards Hurks and Rebuild. Now, the popularity of Shops helps keep Hurks popular instead of E. Truth.
5 – Against Shop decks, your Emrakul is vulnerable to being tapped down by Tangle Wire; Dragons don’t have this problem because they always come out AFTER the Tangle Wire trigger resolves. If you hit a Hellkite first and then a Karrthus, you go lethal after two Oath activations even if Tangle Wire taps down your first Hellkite.
So, again, all the things I mentioned – Sower, Jace, Duplicant, Tangle Wire – Dragons are resistant to, while Emrakul is not. Triple Dragons pretty much guarantees that you play Oath, your opponent then gets a turn. You then smash for minimum 7 damage, they get one more turn, then you go lethal.
Non-haste Robot + Emrakul + Terastodon can result in the following sequence: you play Oath. Opponent gets a turn. You Oath into Sphinx. Opponent gets a turn. You Oath into Emrakul. Opponent gets a turn.
That’s just waaaay too many turns. Again, my point is that people say Dragons are too slow because they “just” win the game in two activations. I’d say clearly the sequence above is a lot worse.
thats actually a pretty good summary for your dragons I didnt actualy think about karthus' abilities a lot, ty for summing it up. I might give tripple dragons a try again.

I assume the main reasons why people dont run him, is because the current oath decks that are winning tournaments left and right are so well designed, and emrakul adds nothing to those decks. other oath creatures do, and dragons breath is just adding more dead cards to the deck. ( having said this, I cant wait to try emrakul in oath ) I'm testing a version that runs these dead cards:
1 Emrakul 1 Show and Tell 3 Dragon's Breath 1 Gaea's Blessing
why not run 2 emrakuls and no blessing instead? it means you always have one in your library, and emrakul acts as a blessing anyways?

have you tested the deck? how did it do vs Oath or stax for example? Seems stax could be a very hard matchup because of the mana costs of the combo, compared to oath which only needs to get oath in play. which decks are your best matchup? I like the idea a lot though

ok ty Evenpence. thats pretty cool that ruling, although with a bargain it doesnt matter a lot, it can matter with cards like Tez etc. Seems like Showing an elephant and Telling him to destroy his recently put into play permanent is pretty useful

@chrissss - Evenpence covered my point regarding Tinker, but to elaborate on the others...
Replacing DSC: I assumed that we were talking about Elephant Oath, since that seems to be the latest greatest. That meant running Key/Vault, which meant running Tinker, which meant you might as well run a bot. That said, I've always favored Inkwell because of shroud.
Replacing Terastodon: In my second line, I was comparing Emrakul to Terastodon. Any time you Oath up Emrakul, they have time to bounce it with Jace. In contrast, Terastodon can nuke Jace directly if he's in play. Alternately, you keep them off mana to tutor/cast him, or blow up your own stuff so that you have more elephants than they can remove. In all of these cases, Terastodon works out better than Emrakul. The immediate effect from Terastodon is too important.
Replacing Iona: This works out much the same as Terastodon. If Jace is in play Oathing up either doesn't matter, since both get bounced before doing anything relevant. If he isn't though, Iona prevents him from coming down. Again, immediate effect on your opponent is key.
At the end of the day, Emrakul is only good if they can't answer by next turn. If you're banking on that though, you might as well run double dragons. Why cripple your opponent on turn three when you can just kill them outright?
Well atm I dont have access to any magic card, because i am away from home, but the oath build I was thinking off would have dragon breath, I would not run emrakul without it for the reasons you explained above. I myself do run either inkwell or the spinx because of FOW pitchability and versatility imo. I havent used DSC in a while myself.

so lets say I show an elephant, and my opponent shows a bargain.
I can still destroy his bargain because the ability goes on stack right? so casting terastodon will automatically destroy whatever he puts down, unless its a creature off course.

so this can be used as a gaeas blessing if needed, with a thoughseize on yourself, you get the entire graveyard back. pretty good ability compared to the DSC imo.
Cant wait to start playing magic again, and especially since I only play oath.
I suspect that the number of times reshuffling saves you would be dwarfed by the number of times you lose from not being able to Tinker him out. I also suspect that the number of times where Annihilator tomorrow trumps Elephant-Nuking today would be dwarfed by the number of times Jace bounces him before you swing. I didnt use DSC in my oath builds when I used to play oath. it was too slow compared to double dragons, doesnt protect itself in vintage and they can block it with Ochard tokens. also jace would bounce DSC back anyways. except for tinker, this badboy is better than DSC.

When Emrakul is put into a graveyard from anywhere, its owner shuffles his or her graveyard into his or her library. so this can be used as a gaeas blessing if needed, with a thoughseize on yourself, you get the entire graveyard back. pretty good ability compared to the DSC imo. very nice article. I have to agree about every card, except I would have liked to see you talk about Glassdust Hulk in bomberman. If any deck would use it, it would be that deck. It plays with the colors, it can use the cycle well, and this and salvagers in play you can actually make in a 20/21 instantly and have a 2nd win condition if you cannot use the infinite mana combo. I know its not the best card, but I do think its less worse in bonberman combared to workshop.
