Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Control Slaver

Control-Slaver is a great deck in a specific metagame.
It's designed to win against the Big deck ( Tog, Landstill, RectorTrix, Draw7, etc. )
It's not verry efficient against aggro ( even With FtK and Fire/Ice ).
Like Atog Lord said you Should splash Black.
Blood Moon will oftenly save you, use it in SB.

Hi,
A lot of people are talking about affinity in vintage this days. I made a mono U build with a stronger counterbase than the U/R one. I would like to know your comment about its viability in hard t1 metagame. Any advise to improve its will be greatly appreciate too.
Blue Star type 1 Aggro-Control
Kill 7
3 Broodstar 4 Myr Enforcer
Draw 12
4 Thirst for Knowledge 4 Thoughcast 1 Ancestral Recall 1 Time Walk 1 Memory Jar 1 Tinker
Protection 14
4 Force of Will 4 Mana Drain 2 Chalice of the Void 2 Powder Keg 2 Lighning Greave
Mana Source 27
1 Black Lotus 1 Mox Pearl 1 Mox Saphire 1 Mox Emerald 1 Mox Jet 1 Mox Ruby 1 Sol Ring 1 Grim Monolith 1 Mana Vault 1 Lotus Petal 1 Chrome Mox 1 Mox Diamond 4 Sea of Synod 4 Darksteel Citadel 4 Island 1 Tolarian Academy 1 Strip Mine 1 Waste Land
I obviously made the sideboard against my metagame and it may be subject to a lot of modification.
Sideboard 15
3 Stiffle 3 Blue Elemental Blast 3 Hurkyl's Recall 2 Powder Keg 3 Tormod's crypt 1 Chalice of the Void

Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Bazaar Stacker

I don't think consistency is a problem for this deck. Deep Analysis and Squee like to be throw in the graveyard and Welders are here to return my fatties to play. I have a hight percentage of chance to draw a Welder in the early game mostly if i have a Bazaar in play. So, in my oppinion Bazaar give consistency to this deck.
After a little bit more testing I find some weaknesses.
1 ) The mana base is too easily disturb by non-basic hate.
2 ) Like most Workshop base deck this one has problem to handle combo. Storm deck aren't a problem at all ( thank to Sphere and Chalice ), but Dragon and Trix are harder to stop. Against Dragon i have stiffle, Tormod's crypt and sometime an early Chalice set at 2, but oftenly it has too much distruption. Trix is my worst matchup ( fortunatly it isn't play enough, in my metagame to be a real threath ), my only weapon against it is a chalice for 3 ( a lot of mana ) or to go faster than its...
3 ) Bloody Suicide and PtFunk are hard to beat. It's not a problem as big as combo is, but they both have artifac hate ( Pernicious Deed, naturalize, Rack and Ruin... ) and graveyard removal. that make those deck strong against me.
4 ) Moat/Humility screw me. I can't deal with those cards. I should win before my opponent drop one of those, but if he is able to play it quickly enough I'm in trouble. Against Moat I can use a recuring Triskelion and against humility I can beat him down with my 1/1... Or may I just concede ?
Questions :
Should I use a Fourth Squee ?
Are Thirst for knowledge better than Deep Analysis ( I use thirst in my first build, but maybe I didn't give its enough of playtesting time ) ?
Do I need more mana source ?
Should I use higher cc beatstick ( Bosh, Platinium, Cloackwork Dragon... Hmm, that look like the Mirodin Spoiler ) ?

Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Bazaar Stacker

Hi,
I'm going to a tournament next week and I don't want to play MUD ( or Stax ), so I made this deck. I only have access to 2 Bazaar but I will try to get two other before the next week ( that could be hard ).
I make a R/u aggro workshop deck ( using a Stacker 3 base ) with Bazaar/Squee to draw and feed the Welder.
I only goldfish with it but it seem to have a lot of potential.
Advises and comments will be appreciated.
Bazaar Stacker Type 1 aggro
Beatdown 10
2 Lodestone Myr 4 Juggernault 2 Masticore 1 Triskelion 1 Karn, Silver golem
Red 8
4 Goblin Welder 3 Squee Goblin Nabob 1 Wheel of Fortune
Blue 5
2 Deep Analysis 1 Ancestral recall 1 Time Walk 1 Tinker
other artifacts 11
4 Sphere of Resistance 2 Lighning greave 2 Powder keg 2 Chalice of the Void 1 Memory Jar
Mana acceleration 9
1 Mox pearl 1 Mox jet 1 Mox Saphire 1 Mox Ruby 1 Sol ring 1 Mana crypt 1 Mana Vault 1 Grim Monolith 1 Lotus Petal

Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Bloody Mask
|
on: January 23, 2004, 06:30:22 pm
|
Hi everyone,
I tweak Bloody Suicide and Spoil Mask deck to make my Bloody mask deck. Advise and comment will be appreciated.
Bloody Mask
Mana source 25
7 Swamp 4 Baddland 4 Bloodstained Mire 4 Dark Ritual 1 Mountain 1 Strip Mine 1 Sol ring 1 Mana Vault 1 Mox Jet 1 Mox Ruby
The Combo 10
4 Illusionary Mask 4 Phyrexian Dreadnought 2 Phyrexian Negator
Disruption 16
4 Duress 4 Hymn to Tourach 4 Sphere of Resistance 2 cabal therapy 2 Blood Moon
Utility 9
4 Spoil of the vault 1 Demonic Tutor 1 Demonic Consultation 1 Vampiric Tutor 1 Yawgmoth's Will 1 Necropotence
Sideboard 15
3 REB 3 Planar Void 3 Rack and Ruin 2 Blood Moon 2 Chain of Mephisto 2 Phyrexian Negator
The red splash is very usefull against control ( Blood Moon, REB ) and Workshop base deck ( Rack and Ruin ).
Sphere of Resistance is a powerhouse cause it give me protection against TPS and slow down most of the aggro and control deck.
I'm afraid of Fast or/and artifact killer aggro deck ( Oshawa stompy, Slight and Ptfunk ). My only weapon against those deck is speed... Blood Moon doesn't affected it Negator and Spoilare very weak against it and the mask/Dreadnought combo is easily stop by artifact hate. So Should I use creature removal ( and loose precious slot ) or should I only release on speed ?
