1  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: [Results] Catalan Vintage League 3rd Tournament top 8 on: April 06, 2007, 03:19:30 am

Hmm and that "Almost blue" decklist looks really random and thus inconsistent...?

/Zeus

It's a French deck originaly called Zbs ( Ze BrainStorm ) created by kLu, our best Type 1 Deck builder ( With Toadimon of course ). There were no Cunning wish and one more Brainfreeze, but why not.
I know that the list seams weird, every draw spell as a One-Of, only 3 Drains ... but soooo many tricks to rise storm/mana, to draw like hell and to win. You really need to practice a lot and a lot to be able to kill fast with it.

Have fun

If you don't play Blood Moon MD, I don't see why you don't have Tolarian Academy in your list : )

Just to continue de discussion about Infernal Contract.

I used to play Pitch long a lot, and every time I played I.Contract in tournaments, I won right away ... every single time.

I don't know if it has been said already but Nerco have another bad side against Mindslaver.deck, wich is obvisous. My personal  way to beat combo is simply to Slave my opponent as fast as possible and then to tutor Necro and have him drawing 20+ cards.

I have always liked fresh D-Slaver list, so thx thanks for this one Rich.
The only 2 welders configuration is fine for me, I've been playing with only 2 Welders for a long time now.

But 2 Tormod's Crypts MD ... wow! This was certainly meant to counter Ichorid, but it seams too much for me.

Only 1 Thirst - I looked at your arguments and can agree. I'll test further more.

What I don't really understand is why not playing Burning wish in such a list with such a sideboard full of rituals Sorceries (Tendrils, EtW and S.Spree)?
I mean Recoup is ok, but with only 2 main target (Time Walk + Tinker) wouldn't a Burning Wish for Tendrils/EtW have won you some more games ?

Something else I don't understand for the moment is why so many copies (3) of EtW in side boards. You want to be able to cast many copy of the cards in a row? You don't want to have to use a tutor for it?

Last question: Why H.Recall and not Rebuild in the side board? Stax-like players always try to play a Chalice @ 2 against any Drain Deck. Rebuild clears the opponent Null Rod + Chalice + SoR etc and gives you many storm counts at the same time. Bread and butter, as you say.

Here is my personnal way to use Witness in a Oath Deck

NAME: Da Beauty, Da beast an eternal love story

// Lands
    1  City of Brass
    2  Flooded Strand
    4  Forbidden Orchard
    2  Island
    3  Polluted Delta
    1  Tolarian Academy
    1  Tropical Island
    1  Underground Sea

// Creatures
    1  Darksteel Colossus
    1  Eternal Witness

// Spells
    1  Black Lotus
    1  Lotus Petal
    1  Mana Crypt
    1  Mana Vault
    1  Mox Emerald
    1  Mox Jet
    1  Mox Pearl
    1  Mox Ruby
    1  Mox Sapphire
    1  Sol Ring
    1  Cabal Therapy
    1  Demonic Tutor
    1  Yawgmoth's Will
    1  Ancestral Recall
    4  Brainstorm
    1  Echoing Truth
    1  Fact or Fiction
    4  Force of Will
    2  Gifts Ungiven
    4  Mana Drain
    1  Mystical Tutor
    1  Rebuild
    1  Time Walk
    1  Tinker
    1  Krosan Reclamation
    4  Oath of Druids
    1  Regrowth
    1  Merchant Scroll
    1  Tendrils of Agony
    1  Chain of Vapor

// Sideboard
SB: 1  Echoing Truth
SB: 2  Duress
SB: 2  Sacred Ground
SB: 1  Tundra
SB: 1  Tormod's Crypt
SB: 1  Darkblast
SB: 2  Goblin Bombardment
SB: 2  Massacre
SB: 3  Shred Memory

Many way to win :

Oath Witness first taking Y'will in a big Graveyard => Tendrils
Oath Colossus first, Witness second taking Time walk from GY for the double swing
Tinker Colossus ... hm ... Easy one ok : )
Etc ...

Many tricks in this build, the Cabal therapy is here to recycle the Witness with Krosan if the Witness is revealed too early.
The Tendrils is MD simply 'cause B.Wish sux.
Witness is sweet in this build also because it's a Regrowth that only cost one extra G mana but beats for 2.
I remember myself doing Gift setup with Regrowth and/or Witness in it + 'Tral/T.Walk or Force/Dain etc ... . Always funny ; D
The only really bad match-up being Combo, I stopped playing it for the moment. The only "good" Oath variant against Combo being the Null Rod + Chalice version.

Have fun
