What about the following configuration:

Out:

Tezz
1 Trinketmage
1 volc.
1 basic

In:

1 Will
1 DT
2 sea

Tezzeret kinda feels like a "win more" card because you already got it as a backup plan (Gifts for combo does the same for you) you're main plan is getting a dreadnought into play right ? being able to just go EOT gifts and just winning on your next turn is a really strong play imo and you can play the best tutor in the format to get your plan A) and B) online quicker.

If i put in more colors i will get stuck behind my own Magus of the Moon so i dont see this as a smart idea.

Tezzeret is maybe a "win more card" but alot of other deck are doing a "win more card" tactic with tinker DSC.
Its also a way to let my opponent get in the wrong sideboard while i put my time vault tezzeret key to my sideboard. to be less scared of null rods and stuff like that.
2  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Tezz goes noughty on: February 06, 2009, 01:35:29 pm
i know its hard to give pointers of what to change about it cuz of nobody really knows my playstyle.
I really appreciate evreyone with there hints, but it is hard to just put yawg will tutors and duresses in my deck.
because i dont know what to replace them for.

So please also give me hints about what to cut for those cards so i can test it.
3  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Tezz goes noughty on: February 06, 2009, 01:08:07 pm
i noticed gifts ungiven but no yawgmoth's will splash
gifts for: time vault, voltaic key, yawg's will, and regrowth
(at least i think thats the standard gifts pile)
basically no matter which 2 they choose the other spells enable u to get the missing piece back

Yawg will and regrowth are black and green spells.
I dont see the use of putting more colors in the deck and its also hard to put other cards out of the deck.
I play mox jet and not the pearl and emerald because i dont have them (there alre alot of proxy tournaments here in holland but i rather play with cards i dont have to proxy).

Also i am not making a deck to transform it to a deck that already exist, but i make a deck that suits my play style.
4  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Tezz goes noughty on: February 05, 2009, 09:17:32 pm
Hi there MaKu,
I saw your list for this deck on deckcheck the other day and thought it was pretty cool for a tezz variant. I did notice a lack of mana drains which are usually in tezz style decks, could you give some info on why you decided not to run them?
Congrats on the finish!

Thank you,

The version i played in Almelo needed mana drains more than the version i have now.

I tried mana drains in my deck but i realized that i never have the mana avaible for them or i dont know for what cards i could replace them.
With magus of the moon in play its harder to cast a mana drain then an force of will.

This deck is slightly aggro based, you want dreadnought in play and kill them in 2 turns.

If this doesnt work you use magus of the moon and trinket mage to kill you opponent.

If you use Magus of the moon and trinket mage to beat down you opponent you likely use your stifle's befor you play magus of the moon on their fetch land.
and with trinket mage finding engineerd explosives you can destroy their artifact mana, the same you do with gorilla shaman.

Tezzeret is in the deck because you will get the midgame and then you have the mana avaible for tezzeret (or just use black lotus wich is easy to find with an trinket mage) after you have tezzeret in play you can start with infinite turn with your timevault and finish the game in peace.

Hi evreyone i have made my own deck and played it in Almelo and became third.
After the tournament i have already made some changes with help of ppl from www.themanacrypt.nl (a dutch version of www.themanadrain.com).

this is the deck i played with the changes already made.

  • // Lands
    3 Polluted Delta
    2 Flooded Strand
    4 Volcanic Island
    1 Tolarian Academy
    1 Strip Mine
    2 Wasteland
    4 Island

    // Creatures
    3 Phyrexian Dreadnought
    4 Trinket Mage
    3 Magus of the Moon
    1 Tezzeret the Seeker
    2 Gorilla Shaman

    // Spells
    1 Sensei's Divining Top
    1 Sol Ring
    1 Lotus Petal
    1 Engineered Explosives
    1 Tormod's Crypt
    4 Stifle
    1 Ancestral Recall
    1 Mox Ruby
    4 Force of Will
    2 Mystic Remora
    1 Mana Crypt
    1 Mox Sapphire
    1 Mox Jet
    1 Black Lotus
    1 Time Walk
    2 Misdirection
    1 Voltaic Key
    1 Time Vault

    SB: 3 Sower of Temptation
    SB: 2 Pithing Needle
    SB: 2 Echoing Truth
    SB: 3 Ingot Chewer
    SB: 2 Fire/Ice

The plan is very easy but can change from time to time.

The main plan is drop a dreadnought and stifle its "comis into play ability".

The other way to play this deck is with time vault to get infinite turns. (like evreybody knows).

The fun about this deck is that there are alot of other decks that have a problem with magus of the moon.
With dismissing the lands of your opponent with magus of the moon against nonbasic lands, using stifle on their fetch lands and using gorrilla shaman for their artifact mana.

You also see your opponent strugling against dreadnought or timevault that you will beat them with magus of the moon and trinket mage.

Also with trinket mage you can search your library for answers like tormod's crypt and engineerd explosives while after sideboarding giving you the option for pithing needle.
You also can use the trinket mage to find sensei's divining top.

Most of the cards in the deck are known and played in alot of more decks and so i dont have to explain those.
If you have questions about my deck feel free to ask.
If you have some pointers for me to make the deck bether alslo feel free to tell me.
6  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Painter/nought on: July 03, 2008, 04:49:22 pm
I played this deck aswell with little bit changes.
i went 2-2-1 after that i dropped cuz i knew i couldn't go T8

My first matchup was against a random elf deck.
This was an easy win with dreadnought and second time with grindstone.

Second match up against a tendrills deck.
first game i drop turn 1 dreadnought but he bounces with chain of vapor.
then i hold control with mystic remora for 3 turns, i stopped paying for my mystic remora and dropped painter and grindstone.
just needed 1 turn more and i hade a counter back up, in his turn he duressed me and won.

second game i lost cuz i had a mana screw. with the help of top brainstorm recall and ponder i didnt found my third mana source and lost.

third match versus world gorgerdragon
this was an easy win with first turn magus to kill his bazaar and other land he had in play.
i saw he was playing dragon deck so i boarded some tormod's crypt in.
with main 4 stifle's it was an easy game specialy cuz i saw 3 of them.

against slaver i had a draw.
not really interesting game went more like draw go draw go, i noticed that sensei top is really making the game slow.

I forgot the other game i lost maybe i'm traumatized :S

i changed some cards in the deck and it looked like this.

// Lands
    2 Polluted Delta
    2 Flooded Strand
    3 Island
    3 Volcanic Island
    2 Steam Vents
    1 Tolarian Academy
    1 Academy Ruins

// Creatures
    2 Phyrexian Dreadnought
    4 Trinket Mage
    3 Painter's Servant
    3 Magus of the Moon

// Spells
    1 Mana Vault
    2 Red Elemental Blast
    2 Pyroblast
    2 Sensei's Divining Top
    1 Mana Crypt
    1 Sol Ring
    1 Lotus Petal
    1 Engineered Explosives
    1 Tormod's Crypt
    1 Grindstone
    4 Stifle
    1 Time Walk
    1 Ancestral Recall
    1 Ponder
    1 Black Lotus
    1 Mox Sapphire
    1 Mox Ruby
    1 Mox Jet
    1 Brainstorm
    4 Force of Will
    3 Portent
    2 Mystic Remora

// Sideboard
SB: 1 Engineered Explosives
SB: 2 Tormod's Crypt
SB: 3 Sower of Temptation
SB: 2 Pithing Needle
SB: 2 Echoing Truth
SB: 2 Rack and Ruin
SB: 3 Ingot Chewer

I changed 4x thirst for knowledge to 2 sensei top and 3 portent, These work kinda nice together cuz you can look top 3 with portent shuffle if needed and look again with top.
also you can get 1 of the 3 cards you saw with portent and draw it with top if needed.
and in the next upkeep draw your top again.

i would change the card draw enginge cuz i dislike top in vintage (its making the game very slow).
Thirst for knowledge is 3 mana cost and you really want to play trinket mage or magus for this mana, but maybe i try it out some more.

Sideboard was kinda solid.
it was nice to take my opponent's DSC and beat him with it Smile.
rack and ruin, and ingot chewer was not needed but still i didnt saw much of stax or chalice, null rod decks
7  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Painter/nought on: June 18, 2008, 10:31:53 am

I really would like some good advice to make my deck even stronger.

Btw i thought of a name for the deck yesterday
its called noughty painter
8  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Painter/nought on: June 18, 2008, 03:37:13 am
Interesting build.
Here are my feelings :
- you have 3 different way to win : painter/stone, phyrexian and darksteel. I believe that focussing on 2 of them would increase the deck's conistency and capacity to apply one of its strategy efficiently (i would remove tinker colossus i think)
- then when it comes to the mana denial, i think you have to make a choice : either you go trully this road, and so you need waste/strip effects (and perhaps no magus) , or you don't and it should provide you with space in order to increase disruption (blast for instance).
Right now, i have the feeling that you are right in the middle and I truly feel that it is not the optimal position.

Then, i think you need the full set of moxes (trinket, painter, grindstone activation, thrist...) in order not to be too slow

But surely, trying to mix the dreanought and painter/stone, supported by trinkets, is an idea that has to be developped. The synergies are evident, the cards themselves are poweful, the srategies are pretty different, I definitely think it can be viable.

Its true what you said on the mana base. i think i will keep land disruption with the mox monkeys and with magus of the moon.

i cut the idea of playing with stripmine and wasteland.

The point of the third kill (DSC+Tinker) is that i already played a tinker and putting a lonely DSC in the deck was easy to do.
the DSC is also good vs painter decks cuz i have 1 in the sideboard aswell.

the main reason i dont play all the 5 moxen is cuz i dont have the emerald and pearl
9  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Painter/nought on: June 17, 2008, 05:21:04 pm
I could cut a lotus petal, 1 painter and a merchant scroll
for 2 wastelands and 1 strip mine.

but i am not sure if this is the best things to cut from my deck.

maybe someone else has a idea?
10  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Painter/nought on: June 17, 2008, 11:14:12 am
I played 13 lands on the last tournament with an almost the same deck (played 4 brainstorms and 3 ponders) and didnt had any problem with mana.
i play 14 lands now and a bit more cheaper spells with it so i think it should be ok.

the mox monkey's are in the mainboard because you can stop your opponents nullrod grindstone and chalice and i think in the meta game these are artifacts to be aware of.
11  Eternal Formats / Creative / Painter/nought on: June 17, 2008, 10:40:53 am

Kill:
Painter servant/grindstone

phyrexian dreadnought/stifle

tinker/darksteel colossus

13 easy creatures to play who are 1/3 of 2/2

Draw:
Thirst for knowledge: with 19 artifact mainboard it looks like a good thing for the draw

ancestrall recall/brainstorm/ponder/merchant scroll:

sensei divining top: Searchable with trinket mage

Disruptie
4x force of will

2x red elemental blast 2x pyroblast: 2 of each cuz of extirpate.

4x stifle: good for your own dreadnought or against fetch etc.

1x engineerd explosive's: a nice little reset button vs empty the warrens etc

1x tormod's crypt: good against ichorid and all other graveyard using decks.

creatures:
look at kill for some:
trinket mage: for dreadnought, sensei or disruption.

magus of the moon: good against shop, bazaar, fetch, duals etc.

gorilla's shaman: good vs all the moxes, null rod etc.

land:
most of them are standerd.

steam vents: just incase someone extirpate your volcanic island its also fetchable.

Sideboard: dipens on the meta so its hard to know for now.
2x sower of temptation:Steal your opponents creature and beat him with it.

2x rack and ruin: aginst shop or other artifact deck's

3x fire/ice: against fish deck, meddling mages etc.

1x grindstone: agains another paint deck sideboard it in if you didnt show your painter or grindstone.

2x pithing needle: against bazaar etc also nice to put on grindstone and put your painter's and grindstone in the sideboard (you still keep 2 kills mainboard)

Well i hope you like my deck it would b nice to get some tips from evreyone to get this deck even betther.
12  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: ICBM Open #4 TO Report and top 8 lists on: May 27, 2008, 05:18:50 am
I was thinking about a bomberman deck with grindstone servant combo in it as second kill en confirting the main kill to pyrite spell bomb.

the salvager combo is graveyard based and the servant combo is just permanent based.

as well you can just run 3 auriok salvager 4 trinket mages en 3 painter's servents as creatures.

The trinket mage's are a good resource to get the grindstone or the pyrite spellbomb ( aswell for your answers to your opponent e.g. pithing needle, engineered explosives etc)

thank you for the reply's.
i think i will go back to the drawning board Smile

but still would be nice to see something like this Smile
14  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / new mechanic on: November 22, 2006, 07:53:01 pm
Hello evreyone Smile
i got a strange idea today for a new mechanic (or wat is the right name for it (i'm from holland sorry Smile)

evreyone know's the card

Angel of Despair 3WWBB
Flying
When Angel of Despair comes into play, destroy target permanent.

and the card

Vindicate 1WB
destroy target permanent.

when i saw the angel and vindicate next to each other in the map it got me thinking that there is a vindicate effect in angel of despair. (before you all go like: no shit sherlock. hear me out)
i came to the idea of a new mechanic. (its a bit hard to explain for me cuz the language thing but i do my best)
just taking angel of despair and vindicate as a sample you will get this as a card

_____________________________ _____________________________ _____________________________ _____________________________ ___
Angel of Vindicate 3WWBB
Flying
When Angel of Despair comes into play, destroy target permanent. (like the angel)

you may pay 2WB to play Angel of Vindicate with out his comes into play effect.

you may pay 1WB to play Angel of Vindicate only for it's comes into play effect. (use this ability only when you could play a sorcery) (like vindicate)
_____________________________ _____________________________ _____________________________ _____________________________ ___

the card exact like this is a bit overpowerd but i hope you get the idea.

i hope you think its a nice mechanic as well

P.S.
sorry for all my error's i'm not a master in typing english Smile
15  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Bomberman vs Bob-berman on: November 21, 2006, 06:25:36 pm
this sideboard was in Simon McRae's deck for boston where he got second place.

Sideboard:
4 Chalice Of The Void
1 Pithing Needle
1 Tormod's Crypt
2 Kami Of Ancient Law
2 Ronom Unicorn
2 Darkblast
3 Kataki, War's Wage

i don't understand the 2 kami of ancient law and the 2 ronom unicorn.
is there so much enchantment's at boston or do i over look something?

also where did he put the cotv on?
and what is possible to cut from your deck if playing vs fish, staxx, gifts and long?
16  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Bomberman vs Bob-berman on: November 17, 2006, 03:14:51 pm
I've been playing Cunning Wish for months now, since my Waterbury Top 16 and I haven't looked back yet.

Teferi is very good in the deck as well, I played it in Jersey and it did win me a match, also Oliver Beaurmont(sP?) from NE ran Teferi as well, he made top 8 at his event. Dropping EoT Trinket Mages is nuts on top of not having your opponent ever resolve a bomb.

I want to fit Trickbind somewhere in there but I really haven't figured it out as well as I should have yet.

A few reasons I don't like JR's list.

4x Auriok Salvagers, its a four mana SORCERY. Jizzy Crizzy I hate drawing two as it is, I usually board down to two vs. a lot of control decks.
4x Merchant Scroll, I see the strength in fetching FoW vs combo, but I feel as if it is similar if you would put Merchant Scroll in Control Slaver, and 4x Scroll in Slaver isn't right most likely. And if you find yourself fetching Wipe Away a lot, I guess I'll put one in my Cunning Wish SB, so I don't need to maindeck it.
3x Brainstorm!? The card is too good, it fixes all my mana problems which this deck can encounter.

Why Cunning Wish is the nut high right now too, lots of mirror matches are starting to stroll along. I can lay a Chalice at one cut off spellbombs and still win through Cunning Wish Brainfreeze. Now that I like.

i'm really interested in your build... and how fast you normally play a Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir.
17  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Bomberman vs Bob-berman on: November 17, 2006, 02:35:37 pm
It's also more about how do you like to play.
are you more of a control player than the W/U is betther for you, are you more of a aggro type then go for B/W/U
But both builds have proven they are worth to play it in vintage.

i play this build at the moment:

it's the deck of Elias Vaisberg who became number 6 in Boston, Massachusetts, United States on 2006-09-24

Maindeck:

Artifacts
2 Aether Spellbomb
1 Black Lotus
1 Engineered Explosives
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Pithing Needle
1 Sensei's Divining Top
1 Sol Ring
1 Tormod's Crypt

Creatures
3 Auriok Salvagers
4 Trinket Mage

Instants
1 Ancestral Recall
4 Brainstorm
2 Cunning Wish
4 Force Of Will
4 Mana Drain
3 Mana Leak
4 Thirst For Knowledge

Sorceries
1 Time Walk

Basic Lands
5 Island
1 Plains

Lands
4 Flooded Strand
1 Library Of Alexandria
1 Polluted Delta
1 Strip Mine
4 Tundra

Sideboard:
2 Chalice Of The Void
1 Tormod's Crypt
3 Meddling Mage
3 Threads Of Disloyalty
1 Brain Freeze
1 Disenchant
1 Fact Or Fiction
1 Misdirection
1 Orim's Chant
1 Swords To Plowshares

i'm not always a fan of cunning wish with the wishboard but it is really nice in this deck.
instead of playing like say 2 disenchant's (what happend in old builds) you now have acces to orim's chant (great vs tendrill's)
swords to plowshares (extra to wipe out the DSC or other big nasty things) and brain freeze (extra kill never bad to have one, had to use it couple of time's after my spellbomb's got removed)
18  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Bomberman vs Bob-berman on: November 17, 2006, 09:32:24 am
what do you want to cut for the merchant scroll? maybe 1 brainstorm and 1 mana leak and then 2 merchant scroll's

bomberman is also winning with beatdown, you don't use pyrite spellbomb anymore.
19  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Bomberman vs Bob-berman on: November 16, 2006, 07:37:18 pm
(yay first post )

I play bomberman with 3 salvager's and 4 trinket mage, sometimes this is even to much Smile.
after you have you salvager-lotus-aether spellbomb you can pick up your deck destroy all creatures your enemy controlls (with engineerd explosive) or return them to their hand (ith the aether spellbomb).

pyrite spellbomb looks nice but its not needed, you can return all creatures and destroy almost all permanents so there is no need for the pyrite ( you try to cast a spell with your opponent having 7 counter's on hand Smile)

lion eye diamond also not needed cuz if your black lotus is countered its in your graveyard (and you can return it with salvager) only thing that can really stop you is that your black lotus is removed. and thats almost impossible'(you got 11 counter's in your deck)
