1  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [ORG] Dark Petition on: June 24, 2015, 02:54:07 pm
I used to play a lot of combo back when pitch long was hot, and this card gets me excited again.

4  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Sideboard list on: January 05, 2015, 01:20:12 pm
Hello

I was wondering if it is legal to bring a printed list with sideboard plans for relevant matches and look at it between rounds?
5  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: MTGO Holiday Festival top 32 decklists (134 players, invitation only) on: December 25, 2014, 11:23:09 am
That belcher list is very interesting
6  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: LCV 2014 - May- Barcelona - 44 players - Top8 Decklists! on: June 02, 2014, 04:57:30 pm
That deck is hilarious. I guess it won a lot of games just by the surprise factor alone. I remember one guy bringing an infect deck to legacy and it did pretty well, because no-one knew how to handle it properly.

Yes this is really nice coverage. Any chance these events will be posted beforehand in the an tournament announcement forum? I have to go someday as it seems like you can gather quite a few people and I had fun playing some of the guys from spain at the last BOM event Smile

14  Eternal Formats / Ritual-Based Combo / Re: Burning Tendrils on: November 11, 2012, 07:31:06 am
Thanks for your long reply. I've been testing chain of vapor instead of rebuild and have been VERY happy about it. It deals with thalia, stoney and can also be used for storm on moxen.

Also I've been testing the 1 Xantid Swarm in main, as Menendian suggested for a non-oath list and have also been happy about it.

I feel this deck is much stronger than the oath variant, but don't tell anyone Wink
15  Eternal Formats / Europe / It's the End of the Year … Tournament Weekend! on: November 03, 2012, 04:58:44 pm
Is anyone coming for this? We are a few guys from Denmark that are thinking about joining in. The time and prices look excellent:

1st place: Ancestral Recall (Beta)
2nd place: Mox Sapphire (Unlimited)
3rd–4th place: Mishra's Workshop
5th–8th place: Bazaar of Baghdad

There is also plenty of Vintage trials and a huge legacy turney.

I really really like this list.

Have you considered/tested gifts ungiven? Is fact or fiction just that much better?
17  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Premium Article] So Many Insane Plays: The Return of Burning Long! on: October 08, 2012, 03:45:57 pm
I playtested the deck yesterday against control, white weenie (with cage and stony silence) and fish (with cage, stoney, daze, force). And I must say that having oath maindeck really helps against stony silence decks. Some of the matches were actually quite long, because a resolved stony silence really slows down this deck, but doesn't make it impossible to win. I'm considering hull breach in the sideboard Smile Already added deathmark.
18  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Premium Article] So Many Insane Plays: The Return of Burning Long! on: October 04, 2012, 03:09:19 am
Moreso than CotV @ 0, I'm concerned about the softness of the deck to Stony Silence. Unless I'm missing something, an early Silence leaves open very few viable lines of play. Even in the optimistic scenario where you're not under additional pressure from Thalia/Wasteland/Ghost Quarter, the two-mana tactic is a turn 3 out, and one for which Fish has several strong answers. Have you had a chance to do any testing against Fish? What were your observations?

Just as a good fish player will know this and play accordingly, so must you. You need very explosive hands against these kind of decks or you end up dying a slow death.
19  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Premium Article] So Many Insane Plays: The Return of Burning Long! on: October 03, 2012, 02:29:46 pm
I just had to buy the article to see the list. I like the deck a lot. I used to pilot the old pitch long decks to several pieces of power. It was one of my favorite decks. Not sure if I like the second list better than the first. Simian Spirit Guide against shop is just so insanely good.

Anyway I have a few questions.

- Why Duress over Thoughtseize? Given that Thoughtseize can take Thalia
- Might be interesting to test Silence instead of duress, given so much draw7
- What are your thoughts on maybe using flusterstorm instead of Duress? I can be used to generate insane storm levels, making it much easier to go off
- Could you comment on the lack of bounce, how have you faired against hate decks? Especially thalia, Null Rod and the like.

22  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Free Article] Vintage Avant-Garde: Rebuilding Griselbrand Oath on: July 03, 2012, 05:26:02 pm
Yes, i needed a target for tinker that gave me 2 mana. Was quite unusual I know, but crypt was good all day. Plus it works better when you're not that dependent on your life total. Anyway I havn't tested the griesel build, so I'm not saying this build is better. Just wanted to share my experience with a very similar build. All credit goes to Brian for making oath viable again.

Sounds like you did not miss Dragon's Breath either, huh?

I don't think it's that essential. The list is very tight. I mean it doesn't even run sol ring Smile

The creatures worked pretty well, having to give them the turn wasn't that big of a problem. I think low life would have been a bigger problem with griesel. Also crypt plus tinker was a very nice addition. They won me a match in the quarter against shops, where no other card except crypt from a vampiric tutor could have saved me.
25  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Free Article] Vintage Avant-Garde: Rebuilding Griselbrand Oath on: July 01, 2012, 02:22:53 pm
I finished second today at an event with 23 people. I played the list with few changes:

-2 griesel
-1 ancient grudge
-1 blessing
-2 mana leak

For

Tinker
Colossus
Emrakul
Mana crypt
2 thoughtseize

The deck was very strong all day. Thanks for a great list.
