1  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / [Report] Top 4 in Brazil with my own build. =) (full) on: April 24, 2007, 01:21:46 pm
Hi!

A little story first =)

I'm Thiago, and play Magic since 2002. I started collecting foil stuff since ~2004.
This year I bought a HUGE collection from a friend of mine, and sold a LOT of the stuff that I had, mainly because I bought better stuff.
(I sold my FBB duals to keep his BETAs and stuff like that).

I also sold my LEDs and chinese IGGs, so I had no deck to play in Legacy!

The enviroment in here is:
IGGy Pops
You are not invited.dec (UBW Pikula, Finkel, Budde and Bob)
Gobblin
Burn
Other

So I mixed up some foil/BE cards and build this:

PIMP.dec

4 Mishra's Factory (4 Seasons)
4 Underground Sea (BETA)
4 Volcanic Island (BETA)
4 Polluted Delta (FOIL)
3 Flooded Strand (FOIL)
6 Island (ICE AGE ARENA FOIL)

3 Engeneered Explosives (FOIL)
2 Veldaken Shackles (FOIL)
2 Dark Confidant (FOIL
3 Psychatog (FOIL)
2 Flametongue Kavu (FOIL)
3 Burning Wish (FOIL)
4 Fire Ice (FOIL)
4 Brainstorm (JP FOIL)
1 Counterspell (JUDGE FOIL)
3 Fact or Fiction (2FOIL, 1 JP FOIL)
4 Force of Will (Eng NM)
2 Mana Leak (FOIL)
1 Stifle (FOIL)
1 Misdirection (FOIL)

SB:

1 Deep Analysis (FOIL)
1 Misdirection (FOIL)
3 Duress (FOIL)
3 Cranial Extraction (FOIL)
1 Rolling Earthquake (P3K)
1 Piroclasma (FOIL)
1 Shattering Spree (FOIL)
2 Mox Monkey
1 Empty the Warrens (I bought a foil recently Smile )

I only had 1 Foil Counterspell, so I throw in some Mana Leaks =D

Game 1 x Fuzzy - IGGy Pop

On Game 1 I was lucky and stifled his Tendrils #2. With 3 life I manage to beat him to death Smile
Game 2 was easier. I countered something with FoW and cast Cranial Extraction on turn 4 =)

Game 2 x Leozerah - Domain Zoo

Shackles + FtK = 2-0

Game 3 x Indiesbc - You are not Invited.dec

He plays a early Jitte and I Wish for... Empty the Warrens! I thought the game was already won because the match up is just to good, but this Jitte almost won the game!
Soon I play a Shackels, and he spends his Jitte counters to avoid Shackles. My Goblin tokens granted me like 6 turns =D
Then I play FtK and take control of the game.

On game 2 I play a early Shackles. He tries to Vindicate it, but I had FoW for that Smile
He doesn't play creatures and the table is lands for him and lands + Shackles for me.
He them plays 4 2CC creatures. I steal his Voidmage Prodigy and play Explosives for 2. I beat him down with Mox Monkey beatdown!

Game 4 x Alma - IGGy Pop (with my ex-IGG T-CH)

He comboes out on Game 1. Nothing much to do.
I start with Duress and Counterspell. Soon I put a pressure with Factory and Psychatog while he is trying to play Defense Grid.
On game 3 I duress turn 1, Counterspell turn 2 and Cranial Extraction turn 4 =D

Game 5 x Bruno Tiete - BUUUUURNS.dec

Game 1 he floods lands and I win.
Game 2 and 3 he burns my ass with Bolts, Lava Spikes, Incinerates... I still Duress 2 Price of Progress in both games... but it wasn't enought.

Top 4 was:
Me
Bruno Tiete
Alma
Ragabash

The winner would get a invitation to play a draft next week. Only Ragabash wanted to play that, so the other 3 of us droped Smile

About the deck.

It's VERY consistent against Combos and Aggros. I added some Chills on the SB, so I'll not lose to Burns anymore :p

It may have a TERRIBLE math up against other Controls deck.
There was one 43land.dec on the tournament and I was glad I didn't faced it.

The deck has so many cards on the MD against aggro decks that playing against Controls and Combos very hard to mulligan.

Fire/Ices are AWESOME cards because they play well against all kinds of decks!

Sideboard is kinda easy... most of the times you remove dead cards :p

I want to change the SideBoard to:

3 Chill (FOIL)
3 Duress (FOIL)
3 Cranial Extraction (FOIL)
1 Rolling Earthquake (P3K)
1 Piroclasma (FOIL)
1 Shattering Spree (FOIL)
2 Tormod's Crypt (FOIL)

Probably I'm taking the Piroclasm out to and add another T. Crypt.

I bought a foil jp Academy Ruins... and I'll add it on the MD.
Ir can bring back E. Explosives, countered Shackles and SB's T.Crypt ^^

Probably I'll take one island or one FetchLand out.
2  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: 1st place at Brazilian's 1st proxie tournament on: October 11, 2006, 08:26:11 am
Thanks for all the replys!
I'm a big fan of all of you, guys Wink

And I didn't expect to win, so I didn't take notes... and I thought I would only write the report for the brazilian website.

Probably we will have another proxy tournament (I still have a Jet and a Ancestral Recall to set as prize) soon. Then I'll take notes to write a proper report, even if I don't win.

It's good to know that you apreciate foreign reports Wink
3  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / 1st place at Brazilian's 1st proxie tournament on: October 06, 2006, 08:21:52 am
Hi

None of you must know me, but I'm one of the most respected Vintage player in Brazil.
I know that it means nothing... expecialy in here, where Vintage is almost dead, with a couple of ~10 person tournaments a month.

I'll start introducin myself. I'm Thiago (PizzaMan in here and in Brazilian Foruns, and Natsume_Shin in SCG and MOTL). I play Magic since ~96, but I stoped, sold/trade all my garbage, and just got back in the game on 2002.

Then I started to play Standard, and quickly moved to Vintage, after read about GAT. I used to own a LoA, and bought a Ancestral just to play GAT, and I was happy =D

Then DCI restricted Gush, I found out that the girl I was flerting was dating an other guy, I got sad and sold both top cards.

But things change, I started to date that *amazing* girl, got happy again, and get back to Vintage. =D

I used to own almost the hole P9 set (even if it cost 2-3x more than to the rest of the world, and I needed a full month paycheck to buy a single Mox), some $hops, LoA, etc... but, eventually, had to sold'em all.
Things change, I broke up with that *amazing* girl, moved from my parents house, and started a real life with an other girl...

But after paying all the bills that was left from the move (and now with a higher paycheck), I got back into bussiness (again =D).

I bought a Mox Jet and started to organize a tornament in here, trying to ressurect the Brazilian Vintage scene.
It took me some weeks to find a place, find a date, find nice prizes, find people to play :p.
And the 1st place would take the Mox.
Entry fee was about R$25.00 (~US$12.00)

A LOT of people got excited, but the pre-release date, anounced a week before the tournament, was on the exacly same date =/

Some people went to the pre-release tournaments, other just didn't came.... and the tournament held 16 people only... and it easn't enought to pay for the Mox... so the prize structure went this way:

1st: playset of Tropical Island
2nd: Playset of BE REBs, or playset of BE BEBs, or Foil Vampiric Tutor, or Bayou
3rd: Same as 2nd, without 2nd's choice
4th: Same as 3rd, without 3rd's choice
5th: Japanese Dandan =D

I know the prize structure sucked... but I was expecting 30+ person...

Well... we did 5 rounds of Swiss, with Top4 Playoffs.

I played UBA, because I recently adquired Bazaars and was in a mood to play Uba or Ichorid. As it is the only proxie tournament arround, I wasn't going to waste the chance to play with $hops Wink

So I'll play Ichorid on the next non-proxie tournament ^_^

Ok, I was organizing, but we had a judge and I was only a player during the day Wink

My list was exacly the same that Vroman played in GenCon. I spend the hole week before the tournament working until late and going to college, so I had no time to test anything now, nor any change.

It was like this:

UBA Stax

4 Mishras Workshop *proxie*
4 Bazaar of Baghdad
1 Stripmine
3 Wasteland
2 Rishadan Port
3 Mountain
3 Barbarian Ring
1 Tolarian Academy
1 Mox Ruby *proxie*
1 Mox Sapphire *proxie*
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl *proxie*
1 Mox Emerald *proxie*
1 Black Lotus *proxie*
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mana Vault
1 Sol Ring

4 Goblin Welder

1 Solem Simulacrum
1 Duplicant

1 Trinisphere
4 Chalice of the Void
4 Crucible of Words
4 Uba Mask
3 Null Rod
4 Smokestack
4 Tangle Wire *MVP!*

SideBoard
4 Granite Shard
3 Tormods Crypt
3 Viashino Heretic
3 Jester's Cap
2 Duplicant

Round 1 - Bruno Tiete playing ??

He starts with a City and a Sapph, and I think he may be playing any weird 4-5C Control, and I start playing around Drains. I start with a Chalice for 1, that is good both againt Control or Combo.
I play some counter baits, that just enter, and soon he scoops for some Crucible+Wasteland or something.

Even not knowing exacly was he was playing, I thought he might have 3- Kill Conditions into his deck. (B.Wish + DSC if Gifts, and Tendrils if Combo)
-3 Null Rod
+3 Jester's Cap

I kept the Chalices because Chalice for 1 broke him nicely on game 1, so I think it may work again, even if I can't play it for zero before he plays his first turn.

He goes City-go.
I played Mox Emerald, Mana Crypt, Chalice for zero, Tolarian Academy, tapped Tolarian and Emerald and played Jester's Cap. Before it resolves, he entered his scoop phase Wink

/o/

I ask him which deck is he playing, and he tells me he's playing Grim Long. =D

1-0 2-0

Nice Wink I won pretty fast and walk arround to see the other decks in there. There was 2 Ichorids, ~3 UW Fishs, 1 WtG (the one with 9 strips, that won Waterbury #9)

Round 2 - Edu Telefônica playing Ichorid

During my few playtests, it's like 0-100 on game one. And I lost pretty fast.
On game 2 I start with a Tormod's Crypt, that slows him down A LOT. He did not started with neither Needle nor Rod, so he dredges slowly. I took my time and lock him under Trinisphere, CoW, Strip, G.Shard, Welder, another Tormod's Crypt and a Duplicant beatdown =D
On game 3 he kepts a "I HATE CRYPT" hand, but with no gas. He thought that he could easily draw into gas, but he didn't.
The game was like this:
He: Chalice, City, Needle (Welder)
Me: B.Ring, Sol Ring (with 2 welders in hand)
He: Stripmine, Null Rod
Me: Welder (lost the land drop. I was holding 1 Mox, 1 Lotus and some artifacts)
He: Strip you, go.
Me: Draw Mountain, play it and Welder, and started the beatdown =D

And I won on turn 4-5 after time O_o

Side:
-4 Chalice of the Void
-3 Null Rod
-4 Uba Mask
-1 Bazaar of Baghdad
+4 Granite Shar
+3 Tormods Crypt
+2 Duplicant
+3 Viashino Heretic

2-0 4-1

Round 3 - Maximum playing Worse than GAT

Game 1 he start with Emerald, Land, Kudzu, then Exploration, Land Land, and that's a game.
On Game 2 I keep a solid hand with 2 Tangle Wires, that buy me time to find a Welder and 2 Duplicants, and it eats his beaters, and soon it goes FTW.

Btw, the sideboard:
+2 Duplicant
+3 Viashino Heretic
+3 Tormod's Crypt
-4 Uba Mask
-3 Null Rod
-1 Bazaar of Baghdad

To Game 3 thare is just 5 min left, and I start with a Trinisphere, and soon some goodies, but we run out of time.

2-0-1 5-2-1

Round 4 - Anderson (MageMaster) playing 5C UBA Stax

We IDed to save our brains from a Stax Mirror =D

2-0-2 5-2-1

Round 5 - ?? playing BG Nether Void

He was 2-2, with no chance of Top4ing, (there was 1 3-0-1 and 3 3-1s), so he conceded =D Nice guy ^^

We played and he beated me in 2-1.

Game one he did:

Bayou + Dark Ritual + Black Lotus + Nantuko Shade + Nether Void

I kept a Workshopless hand, and had no time to do anything.

Game 2 I UbaLock him with 2 Welders and one Mask, buy some time with 2 Wires, and soon I draw into a Duplicant.
In game 3 I lose to 2 Hyppies O_O

(Flying r0x!)

3-0-2 6-4-1

After the 5 Rounds, the standings were:
(nicknames from LigaMagic.com, our Brazilian Magic site)

1 Anderson "MageMaster" - 13 (5C Uba Stax)
2 Milton "Psycho" - 12 (UW Fish)
3 Thiago "PizzaMan" - 11 (UBA Stax)
4 Cleber "Maximum" - 10 (WTG)
5 João "Icy_Manipulator" - 9  (UW Fish)
6 Bruno V Santos - 9 (Grim Long)
7 Mateas de Freitas - 9 (não lembro)
8 Daniel S Taranta - 7 (Grim Long)
9 Patrick Dylan - 6 (não lembro)
10 Felipe M Alberto - 6 (não lembro)
11 Aparecido "Cidããããão" - 6 (UW Fish)
12 Bruno "PokéGótico-EMO-Fuzzy" - 3 (Frigorid)
13 Eduardo "Telefônica" - 3 (Frigorid)
14 Felipe Seton - 1 (não lembro)
15 Julio "Nuclear" - 1 (Oath)
16 Leonardo "LeoZerah" - 1 (Gift's Grim Long)

The Top4 Payoffs were:

1 Anderson "MageMaster" x 4 Cleber "Maximum"
3 Thiago "PizzaMan" x 2 "Milton "Psycho"

On game 1 I just got stomped by a huge Jötun Grunt!

On game 2 he plays a early Kataki, and I try to save all I can with 2 Lands and a Mox. Do some Welder tricks during upkp to bring the Mox back. Keep 7 cards in graveyard and then kill his Kataki with B.Ring =)
Then I win shortly after.

On game 3 I started with 2 Welders, some lands (no Workshop) and a Simulacrum. He play 2 Seal of Cleansing, that "stiffle"s my welders 2 times. He plays Kataki, but I had a lot of lands and payed for everything. I killed it again with B.Ring, hold his Grunt on my Wires and soon cleaned his table with Smokestack. He scoops shortly after.

On the Final round, I played the WTG Again.

He won the dice and starts with Fastbond + Wasteland
I try Workshop-Crucible, but it got countered by a PROXY daze.
When I came back, after 2 hrs of crying on the bathroom, he Ghost Quarterer My $hop, and keep both out of land.
I start building my table with Welders and Bazaars, and he keep wasting my non-mountain lands. Soon he is forced to crush both his ghost quarters to find a colored mana (I wasted his Tropical on early turns), so he can LftL his lands back. But he eventualy conceds to a bunch of artifacts, Wires, Smokestacks and Duplicants.

On game 2 I came busted, with $hop, Crypt and Smokestack (with a mana floating this time Wink), next turn I waste his land and drop Wire. On turn 3 I drop Bazaar and CoW. He tries to Hurkyll my table, but I had a Black Lotus and a Simulacrum in hand and put a defense for his Vinelasher Kudzu, besides the usual artifact locks.
Soon I draw into Duplicant and he scoops Wink

E ended up 5-0-2, 10-5-1 in games.

That's not very impressive, but it was enought to win the tournament Wink

I got the payset of Tropical Islands, which was nice... these were mine and I needed to sold them to the tournament Wink

The good thing is that I learned to play with the deck, and I really think that Vroman did a great job on it!
It's so... perfect! Everything runs so smothly well.

I had never played with Tangle Wires before, and I just LOVED THEM!
They fit so well in the deck. I needed to stop Jötun Grunt inumerous times with Wire + Rishadan Port.

Soon I'll buy myself some $hops and some Power to play with this deck on non-proxie tournaments.

I know my report just sucked, but thanks for reading Wink
See ya!

Hi.

I'm a brazilian Vintage player.

I'm here to say that all brazilian Magic comunity knows about this sad fact and we'd like you to know that if ANY of these cards appear in South America, you'll be the first one to know.

We all are really sorry about this.

I'm jealous for all the friends you have in there.

They are not only trying to help to find the ones who did it, but also trying to help you get back in the game.

You should be thankfull for them Wink

And for all your friends, congratulations for being such nice guys.

Crappy accelerators like Mox Diamond and Chrome Mox are not worth the slots.  Now if you had an Emerald or a Jet, that would be a different matter.

Just because its budget doesn't mean it should have bad cards.

But I haven't tested it that much.  I just wanted to bring it to people's attention.  The deck clearly performed well in a huge tournament.

Is Cabal Ritual so much better than Chrome Mox and Lotus Petal?
And even being bad accelerators in Vintage, I think the idea of the deck is just to combo out as soon as possible, as many Oath decks does. And I bet that a Land Petal Unmask Oath is really good, and can happens often in a tournament...

Even if the "poor accelerators" should be cut, why just add Cabal Ritual over... Crucible of Words, for a example? Is the single ability to be pitched for Unmask so great? Add some One With Nothings! They are so crappy cards that your opponent will lose the concentration and you run over him!
6  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Worse Than Fish 3.0 on: June 06, 2005, 06:31:46 am
I used a version of WTF this weekend in a 40+ players in Brazil, where the metagame is totally aggro and unpowered.
I made this changes:

-1 Ancestral Recall (I don't have)
-1 Time Walk (I don't have)
+2 Berserks
These was the only replacements for Power, because I have the artifacts, and I think that Berserk is, most of times, a Time Walk #1 and #2.

-4 Chalice of the Void
+4 Daze
The Dazes work, most of times, for bluffing. And sometimes saves from Bargains and other threats... and the Chalices are just useless in a UNpowered Metagame =/

-1 Library of Alexandria
-1 Spiketail Hatchling
+2 Gilded Drake
The Library was just unnecessary. In all my playtests before the tournament, my hand usually stay around 3-5 cards in turn 3-4, and the deck wins in speed against most of the matchups, and drawing with LoA and only FoWs to counter is just to risky...
And the Gilded Drakes was a metagame call. In a unpowered aggro metagame, Oath is a good choice. The Hatchling #4 was cut because Dazes now can do almost the same dirty work for Tempo advantage. And sometimes the Gilded Drakes help against Tinker-Colossus, big creatures (like Spiritmonger) and to pitch to FoW.

-1 Black Vise
+1 Umezawa's Jitte
Obvious after all the discussion in this topic.

The deck is almost perfect. I won every single game I played without any fear to lose. The only thing I would remove is the Gilded Drakes. They're useless against a lot of decks, and the deck just smashes Oath's face, and the SB is already good enough.

I don't think the Skyfolk can replace the Hatchlings... I had some great hands of:
1 Black Lotus, 1 Umezawa´s Jitte, 1 Mishra's Factory, 1 Wasteland, 1 Spiketail Hatchling and 2 Dazes
that would be an almost Mulligan with the Skyfolks... I mean, the 1st turn is crucial, and lose a creature drop for having no mana kinda... sucks....

EDIT:
Of course, the 2 berserks should be powers, and the Dazes go to Chalices in a powered metagame, but the Gilded Drakes should become Hatchling #4 and maybe a Tundra.
7  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: [Unpowered] Purple Trix Experiment on: June 03, 2005, 11:03:18 am
Hi...

I have a friend who plays UNpowered UB Trix, and he usualy does well in a UNpowered metagame...

His versions uses some Duresses, tutors (Vamp and Demonic) and Yawgmoth´s Will.

If your going to splash some color in MonoU Trix, why go for Red if you can go for Black?
Duress can be equal( if not better) than REB in almost any circunstances...
8  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: SCG Daily: Concept Deck, Take Two with Budget Black Green Oath!! on: June 03, 2005, 10:56:44 am
I´m sorry, but I still don't understand why Cabal Ritual was included...

I mean, the original BG Oath used to have 1 Chrome Mox, 1 Mox Diamond and 1 Mana Crypt (besides Lotus Petal) to go for a first turn Oath, and Stephen version uses... 2 Cabal Rituals? Whats the point?

Probably because you run null rods maindecked.

Yeah... Travis Laplante's Aggro Workshop (Top8 in SCG P9 Richmond) used a full set of Moxen and Lotus, and still maindecked Null Rods...
Also, I would really rather lost one Chrome Mox and one imprinted card to go for a Turn 1 Rod than ???????? (removing them to Unmask?) with the Cabal Rituals...

I mean... The Rods are one more reason to keep the artifact accelerators in the maindeck!

Also the removal of the 4 Living Wishes made the Rituals kind lost. With BG on the table he could Ritual, Wish for Withered Wretch and play it, kicking Welders out.

I would suggest playing bloodstained mire and taiga over tropical island and polluted delta. Then your own choke doesn't affect your own mana base Smile It won't happen that often, but since I see no different possibilities between both choices except for the choke, I would play mires (deltas artwork is nicer Sad)

Yeah, with the Wishes out, the Tropical is meaningless... and a Taiga and a Foothills would be better...
In Alvarez version, the Tropical could help to summon the Gilded Drake.

The only things I liked in Stephen's list are the Unmasks and Therapy's!

3) Did you shave your beard yet?

Jacob, why didn't you answered that question?

^^

I'm going to do some tests before asking something about the list, but I'm considering some new (old) techs Smile
11  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Vintage Championship in France Top8 on: May 17, 2005, 07:35:41 am
Oh my god...

I've never expected to see this kinda of thing in this forum.

I understand that you might think that the lists may look sub-optimal, but at least try and test it against the "so optimal decklists 3V4R!!one!11!".
Some of the choices may seem odd, but who doesn't put 2 Hydro 2 BEB instead of 4 BEBs?
That's the same thing for DotD over Animate #3.
Also, I don't see much problem in the 2 Und Rivers, as the SB plan is to blow up "basic" lands with Titans. Also not been affected in game 1 against them. And who cares for 3 life point in Vintage? The ones who does, I recommend to remove the Fetch Lands and FoWs from the lists... ¬¬

The Tendrils "TeCH" in Sensei Sensei is just not to have an auto-loss against Oath in game one. I was going to try this out, because the metagame in Brazil is full of Oaths and Agro decks (Like FCG, Fishs, UGs, Sui and other UNpowereds). With Black being stronger, Duress is a nice choice to add in the deck...

These are just "odd" choices, but doesn't mean that the Top8 was mediocre at all!

And I would L-O-V-E to see a tournament with 50-50 americans and "Europeans" :p

Oh, BTW, congrats to all folks! The winers and the TOs!
I would love to play in 2006... the only problem is the ~$800 fly tickets plus food and a place to stay...
U$ 1,00 == R$ 2,51 (Real is current brazilian money). This means that a fly to Paris is over than R$ 2.000,00, and a job that pays R$ 1.000,00/month don't help  Sad

OBS: Sorry for my poor english.

I think I prefer this deck in Legacy... o.0

Kamigawa Block sales are *really* low when compared to Mirrodin Block or even Onslaught Block. No Kamigawa Block archetype has emerged.

Hm... usually the block archetypes are born in the Block Pro Tour (I guess this season will be Philadelphya), like Tooth and Nail and Big Red did...

Most people just prefer to netdeck some nice deck and buy it all in singles than to try to build some new and test, test, tune, test more, than try to beat Raffinity :p

You all know that Vintage is the same thing....
14  Eternal Formats / Creative / Orb of Dreams on: January 27, 2005, 08:00:31 am
I´m with Chamelet...
I think Orb is a "fair 3Shpere", that do not have a game-ending combo with CoW (Like 3Sphere) and slow down Stax a little bit...

Restricting 3Sphere AND CoW would be so wrong... CoW show that is not that unfair, and after the SCG 2 (i´m i wrong?) and GENCON people just use 2-3 copies and more basic lands.

3Sphere is the main problem, because it just stop everything... OoD stops a 2nd turn Drain just like 3Sphere, but it dont stop FoWs nor cheap 2nd turn removals (Oxidize?), not mention that it doesn´t create a unbreackable lock with CoW.

I dont think Stax will have so much time to think wich one to use, because 3Sphere may have it´s days counted...

Maybe a UGW-Phish or a O-Stompy can reanimate from limbo to fight the good fight against Stax :p
Ok, they wont....   Twisted Evil

More than a way to fetch Tolarian Academy, Crop Rotation x4 in a deck like TPS or MeanDeath could just cast it as a free spell for a huge Mind´s Desire or a letal Tendrils. I don´t see Crop Rotation out of that list at all...

All the "free spells" that untap mana can be extremely unfair in a deck like High Tide or MonoU Trix, but I don´t see much use in other combo decks.
Frantic Search for exemple. If you are comboing out in turn 2 with MeanDeath or TPS, you will have 1 ou 2 lands in the table, and Frantic will still cost 1 mana. And I dont see Carefull Study being played in neither decks.

The discution about Time Spiral is well done by Smmenem in his article.

When I sow the article, I thought that Entomb would be in the list. As I can´t imagine a degenerative reanimator deck (other than Dragon, but... is Dragon degenerative?), and BoB is unrestricted anyway...

Why to spend 2 turns, at least 2 non land cards (entomd and reanimate), need to have more dual lands (wasteland anyone?) and a far unconsistent control if you can just play Oath and do the same with 1 nonland card, a more basic mana base and all the MonoU advantage?

Btw, great article  Razz

Rather than in packs, or as singles, I think he meant WotC could/should reprint as box sets, and make a packet as they do so...

I Think Wizards have already done this in Collector´s and International Collector´s Editions... And they´re not legal.

I live in Brazil, and the number of power here is really low... and I´m working hard and paying a lot of money to buy my powers. I would be VERY upset if a 15 year old standard player win a foil sapphire in a PT qualifier and just sell it or trade it for a Cranial Extration set..

Most of the judges in here don´t even play, and just sell the foil promos (btw, you can see all the foil judge promos in here) right after they receive them. I think it is just a waste of power, as most of them will just go to e-bay for, i believe, five hundred dollars for a foil Black Lotus, or go to a collectors bind to stay forever...

There are still a LOT of power, and e-bay auctions shows it. I believe the e-bay bidders that purchase a power card will keep it for collection or play use, and the source just dont end. Every day a new auction just start for a Black Lotus!
I´m tottaly against the reprint in any way. Textless, foil and even artless...

Basic lands are just too powerful in this metagame. They should be restricted.

Aren't they? Danm TOs that lied to me!

On-Toppic:

Top8 is all about 5/3s and MeanDeack Oaths... but with more and more fame the Oath gets, more and more hate it gains...
And 5/3 is still there... now loaded with a package of hate, like the seals main deck...
Btw, the version Eric Miller used can abuse any kind of weird hate, avoiding usual choices, with 8 5c lands...

And it is all about metagaming the Oath as well....

To bad I can't play in these big tournaments...  Crying or Very sad[/b]

Hi... I visit this forum for some time, but never have something to post...
Most of times because someone already said what I wanted to say or because I´ve got nothing to say...

But this time is diferent.... for the very fist time in Brazil (in my one year of Type One) a tournament for a card!

The tournament will be located in Assis - São Paulo

"Assis - SP

dá uns 450 KM de São Paulo, perto de Bauru e Marília.

Pega a SP 280 e Continua na BR 374 q vc sai certinho em Assis."
I´m sorry for this part in portuguese, but it´s only to explain people from Brazil to get there.... in english it means:

"Assis - Sp

450Km away from São Paulo (biggest city in Brazil), near to Bauru and Marilia (smaller citys than Sao Paulo, but bigger than Assis yet)

Going straight in SP 280 (highway), goes on in BR 374 (other highway) and will be right in Assis"

Entry: R$10,00 (I think, e-mail the owner to confirm)
Place: Insight Comic Shop - Assis - SP - Brazil
7 rounds of Swiss with Top8
fone: (18)3321-2136
e-mail: chamadoasarmas@bol.com.br
NO proxies.
The reason is that most of the players (80% i thik) is type2 players and newbs, so proxies would boost to much real players)

pre-registration via e-mail since 15/05
For obvious reason, the tournament will need some pre-registrations with payment, to confirm the prize. In may 26th I´ll post here to confirm the torunament...

http://forum.ligamagic.com/?view=mensagem&local=5&id=481 for full brazilian announcemt

Sorry for the english mistakes... I should have attended to more english classes...
Thanks for the space in here!
