I think even in affinity or MUD you would play 4 STP. Perhaps if Extipate or Surgical Extraction become prevalent you may need one of these.

I see Matt Elias has just presented an oath deck on SCG with a singleton BSC and an Emrakul with 2 Dragon Breaths.

It was only a matter of time I suppose.

The article is http://www.starcitygames.com/magic/vintage/21057_The_Long_and_Winding_Road_Blightsteel_Colossus_and_the_Golden_Gun.html

I found this top 8 deck somewhere online back in September last year. Switching Emrakul to BSC may be the go.
From my point of view this build gives the BSC two extra benefits.
1. Haste - which means you need an answer now not next turn.
2. It gets an extra +1/0 meaning your chump blocker needs 3 toughness

Sure the Emrakul build may be better. Just suggesting a possible build for BSC. Not discussing the pro and cons of the sideboard either.

5  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Be Aggressive, B E Aggressive - 0 Land Belcher in Vintage on: September 26, 2010, 04:06:53 pm
Has anyone tried Goblin Strike? I've seen it in Legacy Belcher builds. Admittedly it was in decks running 4 Burning Wish and the Strike was in the sideboard with some copies main deck. Perhaps as a one off for surprise oops I win value?
6  Eternal Formats / Bazaar-Based Decks / Re: Bloodghasted Ichorid Primer- Looking to the future on: December 09, 2009, 02:11:23 am
^ It's an idea but is it really better than any of the alternatives that return Bloodghast?

Undiscovered Valley= ghast every turn + multicolored sideboard options + taps for fatestitcher
City of Brass= multicolored sideboard options + taps for fatestitcher
Seat of the Synod= returnable with Sharuum + taps for fatestitcher
Oboro, place in the sky= taps for fatestitcher+ possible returns ghast every turn
Strip/Waste= distruption
Cephalid Coliseum= taps for fatestitcher + alternative/compliment to Bazaar
Dakmor Salvage= potential ghast return when in the yard + crappy dredger
Petrified Field= gets a land back but doesn't produce colored mana

What does arbor do?  It sits there and doesn't generate any practical mana and chumps for a zombie token when needed. It can be useful but there are better alternatives out there.  Having blue mana available is awesome in combination with Fatestitcher.  HE... WINS... GAMES. Nuff said.

Very good points. I think I see the light now.
Thanks

What are people's thoughts about using Dryad Arbor as a Dread Return target using Bloodghast?
In terms of generating zombie tokens you get some when you sack the Bloodghasts to return the Dryad Arbor and then since it is a land you return the Bloodghats and can Dread Return sac them to get more zombies and return Zealot.
I realise it produces green mana but I see as an alternative way to get a land in play to return the Blloodghasts.

@Jeremey
Congrats on the win. Just one question if you don't mind.
Why DS over Inkwell?

Inkwell looks good because it pitches and can't be as easily removed and is unblockable vs most the field.
DS is a quicker clock and without TFK can be discarded at eot when you draw heaps.
But what if your opponent plays well around Remora DS can be stuck in your hand? (Ok that's two questions)

Love your article. Just wondering why does the Oath deck only have 59 cards and a 14 card sideboard? What are the missing cards? If you can't answer here could you post an answer on Starcity. Thanks.
10  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Premium Article] So Many Insane Plays - Restrict Mana Drain? the Jan/Feb Report on: January 19, 2009, 06:23:03 am
Last week I read the article "Insider Trading - Are Proxies Hurting Vintage Tournament Attendance?," and then having read this article on the current state of the metagame and should we restrict mana drain I had a thought.
The thought was "Is the metagame different for a non-proxied vs a proxied environment?" and an associated thought with that "On which environment should we base the banned and restricted list?".
It seems to me that restricting or even banning a card like Mishra's Workshop in a proxied enviornment is not the same as doing the same in a non-proxied environment finanically but should have a similar effect on both metagames.
If players are only playing full powered or staks with Workshop and Bazaars because its a proxied environment doesn't that sufficiently change the nature of that metagame from a non-proxied environment?
I certainly don't have the data or the time to answer these questions. I'm not even sure how relevant or real they are.
As player with full power, a set of mana drains, 3 grim tutors, a time vault, 1 bazaar and a library in a pear tree I for one would not be happy with banning or restrictions being done a) based on a proxied environment and b) possibly by people playing in said environment.
Not angry or annoyed just had a thought that's all.
Happy vintage playing. Very Happy

Interesting deck. One question though. How does Sara Shattering Spree your Chalice at 1? Does the Chalice stop the original but not the copy(ies)?
12  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Minor Oracle Changes on: September 06, 2007, 10:53:58 pm
Doesn't the new oracle wording mean that you can "attach" the animate dead to the Akroma so if you destroy the enchantment you must sacrifice the Akroma?
The new wording given here "Enchant creature card in a graveyard
When Animate Dead comes into play, if it's in play, it loses "enchant creature card in a graveyard" and gains "enchant creature put into play with Animate Dead." Return enchanted creature card to play under your control and attach Animate Dead to it. When Animate Dead leaves play, that creature's controller sacrifices it.
Enchanted creature gets -1/-0. " doesn't say target anywhere so protection from black will not stop it attaching to the Akroma.

Is this correct?

Signed Confused.

There's something I don't understand. Can't Extirpate remove Mishra's Factories? The only cards it cant't remove are basic lands.  So what happens when you face a Fish deck with Wastelands that splashes black for Extirpate?
14  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Planar Chaos] Extirpate on: January 24, 2007, 10:43:25 pm
Will we see U/B decks with Glimpse the Unthinkable followed by take your pick extirpate? You either get one of the ten or a counter. I'm new so don't be too hard on me if I don't know what I'm talking about.  Very Happy
