Thank you Stephen.  That is all I needed to hear and am more than willing to come back for more vintage. 

I am very grateful that the vintage is coming back in the bay.  By no means I am trying to derail all of the work Stephen had been putting in coordinating these.

I am happy you are taking my comments seriously but wow, did I hit a nerve or something? I didn't expect this from a store like Eudo. 

My biggest complaint is entree fee and pay out and I have explained why.  What we agree differently is how stores make money through tourneys.  Tourney's main purpose it attract people to the store so they can spend money at the store.  How do you make money on the long run? Have a stable customer base so you have stable income from them.  When people goes to your store, you want them to buy cards, drinks, and products.  There is much more to gain there rather than taking the guarantee pay cut from the prize pool.  It'd be much better if everything is give back in store credit.  But Eudo is taking a cut, and then give things back in store credit, which have to be spent at the store anyways, then why take the cut? We have to spend it in the store anyways!

This lead to comparison to other stores.  Why should I play at Eudo when other competitors are giving 100% back in store credit.

And there is actually a very logical reason for that, it is a vintage tourney and there are so few of these nowadays.  Well, then it is up to the players to decide if they want to play and I expressed that I don't like it and the reasons why.  But that is only me, clearly Heiner, LotusHead, Smmenen, and a lot of other people are willing to pay the "premium" and play.  I expressed that I won't be going back if it isn't $20 next time or a change in prize structure, but again, that is me.  Why don't Eudo just take this professionally and there will be less critics.  I am certainly very surprised when you took the time replying what you had to say. 

It is obviously I am bitter from the time when Eudo took away the Ancestral and the Lotus tourney since I don't feel that was resolved properly.  I didn't say or imply Eudo is screwing the vintage scene.  I am saying I don't like it when stores are giving back less than it took and increased the usual entree fee than it was years ago when it lastly held the tourney.  Not saying Eudo or anyone should work for free, but Eudo is marginally profiting more than it used to and compared to its competitors when it didn't have to do it.  First tourney back after the sudden hiatus, I didn't interpret that as good gestures. 

You brought up the point of premium events and I will simply say our definition of premium is different.  GP, PTQ, SCG circuits, and etc.  those are premium, you are playing 30-40 and playing for an insane prize money other than PTQs.  When you put premium to an Eudo event, I don't quite hear the bang, I see more profiting instead of providing a big, premiere, quality tourney.   

What Webster posted and what I posted are similar, except mine is much less diplomatic and not as well worded as Webster's. 

Once in a while there is always these situations where someone simply messed up something simple and lose the game because of it.  And since the situation was so simple, it baffles other people...  in this case by putting Tinker in graveyard it means the Flusterstorm (copies) resolved, having the ability or intent to pay didn't matter.  There is no foul play of any sort. 

I don't like the way how the way Eudo charged $30, seems to me they just want to make money.  When they charged $30 last time, it was for a Black Lotus (which interestingly enough was an event that got canceled).  I am not going to pay $30 for the tourney when the store takes a percentage of it and give back in store credit.  In Vacaville, it was cash pay out and back in Superstars, prize pool is 100% of the entry fee.  With the way Eudo is running things, it seems like they care about profiting through the tourneys rather than for the best interest of the players.  I am okay with $20 entry fee, but $30 is way too much.  Originally I have no intent of coming to the tourney but Web convinced me eventually so I was thinking might as well.  But definitely won't be going if anything doesn't change next time. 

And Ancestral.

Oh god.   Nice way to cancel an event like 2 days prior.  You do you know there were SoCal people planning to drive up right?  Pretty fucking unreal, was actually very looking forward to playing vintage this week. 

What is the reason? There were no conflicts, if you reschedule an event because couple people couldn't show up, then that is ridiculous.  Not everyone can make it at a certain date, it isn't like a +10/20 people difference.  By changing a date sure you are getting some people to go because they can't make it on these dates, but that means you are actually screwing others who made their plans ahead of time.  Life never works out the way you want to, when we are responsible adults, shit happens; scheduling conflicts happens.  There are people (Tom Martell) who canceled a different trip so he can make it to this event.  There are SoCal people (Phil T. and Matt S.) who are going to be up for this event....n

Now, if you did it because of Gencon, then that is just actually retarded.  For the ENTIRE time Eudo ran its Mox Series, they never canceled a date or even considered Gencon.  And besides, Web's prior post was actually right on the spot. 

No offense and my apologies to BC and Brett, it isn't that I don't want you guys to attend these events.  It is just the fact that Eudo is canceling an event like literally 2 days before for some goddamn unknown reason really tilt me.  And you two just happened to mention here that you guys can't make it. 

Again, sorry if I sound offensive, I don't mean any harms.  But I am actually not happy with how Eudo announce an event like a month prior and then decide to postpone it 2 days prior.

Wow, really? This is going to be so interesting.  I mean, seriously? All right.  

In tourney plays you should keep track of your own life and your opponent's life.  Preferably with a pencil + pad.  

When you said, "no blocks" it means, no blocks.  You can't go back and declare blockers once you said that.

I attacked with Jeff with an Inkwell, after I played a Trygon.  And he said no blocks.  I was surprised he didn't block and said, "okay, next game?" He was confused by it and then figured out what was going on; he forgot to move his giant dice.  When he tried to block, I said, "you said no blocks. It's too late already." And he scooped his card.  He scooped it up.  We could had call a judge there, but he packed it up to the next game.  I am not going to call a judge because of it.  I'd had been okay if judge came by and made a ruling.  I'd argue for my point, I mean, who wouldn't?

Furthermore, Jeff didn't ask me about the life points because he was sure.  If he asked me the life points then I would had point out what I have and we can compare.  I am not getting punished for someone not keeping track of their life total.  I am not getting flamed and accused something out of my character for someone's mistake.  

To the people who commented, I mean seriously? First off, you aren't at the scene.  Second off you only heard one side of the story.  Accusing people's characters based on 2nd hand information and plus the fact you aren't even there is ridiculous.  I didn't act as a douche or try to cheat Jeff.  I know his life total and I attacked.  He didn't ask me what he was at and he said "no blocks." I didn't misrepresent information nor lie.  I didn't INTERFERE as a spectator on a match where he had no rights to interfere.  I didn't interfere the match by indirectly hinting at the players for something they overlooked.  By posting something like this just serves no good, but quite the opposite.

Going in to the tourney I knew I didn't want to play Oath again even though I had great success with it; sometime you just got to switch up.  So I am IM'ed Web on like Wednesday asking him if he has come up with anything.  And on Saturday morning he shipped this list and told me couple things.

Me: Trigun Predator?
Web: Yeah, I think it is a good answer to the decks we are facing in our meta.  Very sweet against Stax, a way to "stop" Oath, and eats mana inTez mirrors.
Web: This is also untested and might just be garbage, I just goldfished it a lot.
Me: Sweet list gunning it.

I shipped the list to LSV on Saturday when he asked what Web and I were running he definitely NO-SIR'ed the deck.  Look who is the fool now, guess pro tour champs are just chumps sometime.  To be fair, he only came because Matt Sperling was coming and there were some sweet GWall actions going on.

My basic board plan against Oath is take out tinker, robot, and mystical, and add in 3 Nature's Claim.  Against Stax -3 Thoughtseize, -1 Mystical, -1 Tez, -1 Jace TMS, -1 1 Spell Pierce for 4 Goyfs and 3 Nature's Claim.  Against Tez - tinker, robot, mystical, and something loose I forgot + 4 goyfs.  This is like an "aggro" Tez build.  Against dredge take out bad cards and add in the good ones, shouldn't be hard to figure out -_-|||

Web and I went a combine total of 5-1 against Stax, thanks Trigun.  There really isn't anything much, I just think overall I have more consistent draws than my opponents and just outsourced them through Bobs and what not.  Trygon Predator was actually pretty decent in some of my games where I ate my opponent's Moxen and just really slowed them down a lot.  It is a pretty nice card and it did what we wanted it to do, disrupt the opponent enough while we set up.

Oh, on the car ride back while stopping on red we saw 2 duders with an actual yield sign walking in the intersection.  Needless to say, it was some serious payment.  Two guys with an ACTUAL yield sign. 

BC, I  think your complaints are legit and I totally understand what you are saying.

The prize structure for the more expensive powers are all going to be pretty top heavy unfortunately.  For me as a player, if the total prize is equal or greater than the entree fee they got, then it is a good payout.  Stores generally value the powers bit higher, that kind of sucks, but just reality.

Store credit at Eudo is kind of.... meh.  You should just use it as entree fee.  Regarding winning, should probably take the card and resell it to someone for better value.  For the reasons you said, Eudo just don't have a large inventory of magic stuffs and their pricing is really bad.

Having the 2nd Jace is awesome, I replaced top with it and never looked back.  I always thought tops are important, but I guess they are more important when you are playing with Bobs, not Orchards. 

The 2/2 split between Snare and Pierce is good, there are enough Fish in my area where I think Snare is just better than Pierce. 

Ichorid isn't too popular in my area, most of the time ppl have a good amount of hate against it.  But I like 4 Leyline, 2 Needle, and 1 Jailer.  I have that package before when I was playing Tez and have decent results.  Having 2x Needle is also good against Welder which I think is a problem for this deck. 

Again, thanks to the competent posters contributing to this thread.  I have been rocking hard with Oath for last 6 month and this version of Oath is by far my favorite, and strongest even. 

This is like the first tourney that Luis, Web, and I played the same exact 75.  But after 3 rounds, I was a lock to top 8 and both of them are dead; I guess sometime I just run better.  I felt like I played real tight throughout the whole day till I played against BC.  Nerves got to me I guess, I always kind of choke... made some very obvious misplays and probably made couple questionable choices.... I was kind of iffy on playing Gifts already, and now there is Terastadon... god, more decisions to make...  I hate life.

But to highlight some good stuffs, Jace won me the mirror in game 1 in the Oath mirror.  I was able to bounce my tokens back and win the Orchard war.  I was able to beat Fish round 2 and 3, which I drew pretty well.  Oath vs. creatures is pretty sweet sometimes :-p In the quarterfinals both my opponents and I have some sick draws and rips.  I was able to win game 1 on the back to Mana Drain, guess it had been a while since ppl played against it.

My games against BC was pretty awesome and it sucks I came out on the losing end (for me at least).  I might sound bit sour, but that is because I hate losing lol.  Upon reflecting, this game was really fun.  Thanks a lot for the games BC ^_^  

Forgot the details about game 1 ^^" But I was able to play Vault and play Tez to untap after his Lodestone Golem died ^^

Game 2 it was really awkward when I oath up Tin Man as my first dude.  Then I Oath the elephant, and the 3rd Oath it was Tin man again and I only have 4 cards left... so with like 40++ cards left I milled to the bottom 4, nice.  To make it worth, I drew Iona the next turn.  And it was pretty obvious all he had to do is to hold on for a couple turns and with him able to Oath out a Duplicant was bad for me.  I can't give him spirit because he will just chump block.  Oath'ing till 5 cards when you have 3 targets left in 40+ cards left is unreal bad.  

Game 3 I was able to make land drops Drained a Tanglewire and landed a top.  But on his turn he crucially wasted my green source so I can't cast Nature's Claim which I was holding for his Sol Ring.  He started with Black Lotus, Mountain, Sol Ring and Chalice @ 2 which I counted.  I have top out, but I was unable to find a green source for fucking 5+ turns with the top spinning and he was able to find a Crucible before my land.  If any of those turns I can get out green source the game would turn out differently.  Frustration got to me as I made a pretty awk. noob blunder.  The thing is, without the blunder the game might be over for me because he was holding Duplicants.   When I Oath'ed out the elephant I hit 2 bridges + his workshop, so can't can't cast Duplicant.  Then he masterfully plays a workshop, dup my guy, and swung for lethal.  I wasn't winning at that point, with me playing Iona, Elephants and DSC, I can't really get through that well with his welder, spirit/elephant tokens, and Dups.  

This is the first tourney I played a 100% netdeck.  I miss having echoing truth main and pithing needle sb, these are just good utility cards in the NorCal imo.  But many thanks to the competent posters who posted on the Elephant Oath thread, this deck is awesome.  Jace is sweet and good.  Mana Drain is beautiful for me (partly because people here haven't seen it in a while).  I had Sphnix instead of DSC, but changed to DSC last minute because honestly Oath is weak against combo and already decent against creature based decks.  I'd rather give combo a turn less.  But with ppl so aware of Oath in our meta, something untargetable or with protection may be better.  I am just bit bitter that a change I made and ultimate switch back kind of cost me a game.  I am just going to customize the deck to suit me better.  And I hate Gifts and Terastadon, too good not to play, but so hard to play right, I suck at this game Also many thanks to Ryan Reynolds for spending long hours judging ^^

Question, when are these tourneys being held? Eudo's website is ALWAYS down.  It is Sunday morning right now, Eric Campusano just told me that there is legacy at noon today... wtf? really? nice advertising if there is actually a tourney.

Web and I went cliffing and drinking after 4 rounds; it was very sweet.

It is about knowing the meta.  There is only 1 consistent Stax player, Lotushead.  I am pretty kold to chalice and that is how I got my draw in rd. 4 g3 against Lotushead when I used up both of my Nature's Claim and try to go big with Yawg. Will etc etc.  Echoing Truth is obv. better against Fish/creature decks (which I expect more of) and it played a huge role in my rd 5. win against 2-land Belcher when playing for top 4. 

I know Chalice @ 2 will screw me over, but the positive seem to outweigh the negative.  And you know, mise.

I am still @ Eudo right now.  Web won in the finals 2-1.  I scooped to Web in semi after sneaking in the top 4 with 3-1-1; mise.  Oath is a nice deck :-p

Some sweet moments:

Started the tourney 0-1, then 1-2, and was able to squeeze top 8 @ 8th. 

Got raped by BC's mono R stax in round 1.  Kept 1 lander with Thoughtseize, Ancestral, and assortment of restricted cards that I can't recall.  But never drew another mana source for 6 turns.  As it turns out, if I turn 1 Ancestral I wouldn't had gotten there.  G2 I actually just punted, I thought Mono R stax didn't have caps in the board.... literally just punted.  Though when he capped me I wasn't in the best position... so oh well.

Got a sick draw where I hardcast Hellkite Overlord turn 4 after I Oath out an Iona in quarterfinals g2 after up a game. 

Then I got nutted by Dan in 2 games, not really complaining because I def. got enough mileages from this deck already XD
