1  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: [Deck] U/W Replenish on: November 26, 2008, 08:26:07 am
If you're running Replenish, there are several cards I would suggest using.  First, Bazaar of Baghdad would fit in here.  Second, I would run Auratog.  Third, Green offers a lot to this deck, including the Enchantresses and Sylvan Library.  Fafnir Enchantress is a maybe, I would probably not run it myself, though.  Fourth, I would run more Hatchling Plans.  Fifth, if you end up running Bazaar (It would be brutal in this deck) and more Hatchling Plans, I would suggest Pursuit of Knowledge as a 1 of.

I wasn't suggesting playing Tez.  I was simply suggesting to add the Time Vault+Key combo.  I basically put the combo into any and every deck with Trinket Mage now.

I have one quick question KurtySpice, have you tried adding Time Vault/Voltaic Key here?  It only takes up 2 slots and yet it adds another, less mana intensive win-con.
4  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Fresh Fish: Fish Variants on: November 08, 2008, 02:32:48 am
I used to play Mark Perez's version of UR gay red in the past. I am missing in David Besso's version some lavamancers, for me that was absolutely the best creature in the deck.

Recently I have been testing with fishy decks and I wonder what do you think about Cold-Eyed Salkie. I think is a pretty good creature for a merfolk deck and if anyone is successful combining it with unstable mutation it can net you 4 cards straight away (lord of Atlantis also gives it +1/+1)

I believe that Riptide Pilferer is also very nice...Let me know your thoughts!
I actually agree with you on the Fish.  Personally, though, I believe you should include Rootwater Thief and Earwig Squad if you're going to try actual Fish.
5  Eternal Formats / Creative / Besso's Solution on: November 07, 2008, 11:14:45 am
This is a link to a new Fish variant called Besso's Solution.  I'm not sure if there are any other threads about it, I looked but could not find one.  Nonetheless, I have 3 things to say about the deck.  The first is that I'm glad the deck got 8th out of 315 players.  That is honestly amazing.  Second, I think the deck needs Aether Vial.  It has such great synergy with the controlling creatures in the deck as well as Chalice and Standstill.  Finally, does anyone know the full list with the 60th card?
6  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Deck Discussion] GI's (Hadley) Control Tezzeret on: October 31, 2008, 03:42:37 am
EDIT: Also, how is your Fish match-up?  I quit running this deck because it kept losing to Fish.
Finally, is Intuition + AK really working out that well for you?  I tried running your shell and was never a fan of that draw engine.  A good many of the builds I've seen chose TFK instead.
7  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Fish with Time Vault on: October 30, 2008, 10:59:48 am
I'm well aware this is a double post, however, I've updated the list.
8  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Ad Nauseam Tendrills (Spooky Nauseam) Fun with storm. on: October 30, 2008, 09:47:29 am
Have any of you tried using Gemstone Mine instead of the Fetchlands?  It cannot be Stifled and does not cost you life, which is one of the problems I've found with the deck.  Additionally, it adds any mana to your mana pool, which makes splashing much easier.  It may not thin your deck, but everything else about it is superior to the Fetchlands.
9  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Tezzeret Bomberman on: October 28, 2008, 04:15:10 pm
Because I did not know about Cursecatcher.  I take back what I said about Sage, Cursecatcher is likely a much better choice.  As for Tezzeret, he's been dropped, completely, and so has Salvagers, so I will be renaming the thread as soon as I'm done with this post.  Gush has been dropped as well as another Wasteland.  So, which would be a better card for the deck, Cursecatcher or Stifle?  Cursecatcher would be a nice choice, since he controls and can still be pitched to Clamp, but would I need a Vial maindecked if I were to play him, and should one be in here actually?  Stifle is actually one of my favorite control cards ever printed, and it would allow the use of a Dreadnaught.  All in all, I'm still just speculating since my laptop is down and I can't do any playtesting (besides my roommates, but we rarely ever see each other these days).
10  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Tezzeret Bomberman on: October 28, 2008, 03:31:22 pm
I have actually made several changes.  I am running 4 Duress now, I dropped a Grunt.  Gush and Ponder are about to get cut, and I'm thinking of replacing them with Sage of Epityr, who still has tiny muscles, can chump or be thrown to Clamp.  I'm thinking I should cut a Wasteland for another fetch.  Salvagers is about to get the hack, but I'm not sure what should be in it's place.  I'm thinking Ninja of the Deep Hour may be a useful card in this deck, but I'm not sure.  As for the AN Match up, you didn't count Meddling Mage, Hide/Seek (taking out just a single Tendrils does wonders against AN), or the sided Canonists.  I've been mulling it over and I think the Cannonists may actually deserve a main slot over Hide/Seek, though I would like to keep the Hide/Seek because there are enough decks with only 2-3 win conditions in their whole deck to make the card viable and Hide's ability has saved me two games I would have likely lost otherwise.  Tezzeret doesn't belong in the side either.  It will probably become 1-2 Chalice.  About Grunts, they may not stay in play long, but they are brutal with a Clamp attached.  I'm tempted to put in 2-3 Clamps main, since they make a great secondary draw engine, especially if I start running Sage.  Without Salvagers, I'm thinking the Spellbomb should be a second Clamp (It turns Trinket into a 3/1 who gives you cards when he bites the dust, makes Sage much more vialbe (I will test them and see how it goes), and allows me to draw from Confidant even at low life).  The deck still needs work, which is why I posted it in this Forum.
11  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Tezzeret Bomberman on: October 27, 2008, 11:00:04 pm
I actually decided to board the Tezzeret.  The deck has not lost a single match so far and so far has beaten Ad Nauseum Tendrils, Stax, Fish, Tezzeret Control, and like 5-6 jank.decs.  Without further adue, this is the deck I've been working on:

12  Eternal Formats / Creative / Fish with Time Vault on: October 27, 2008, 11:17:10 am
Hello, this is my first new thread here, so take this into consideration.  That said, I've been playing Vintage for quite some time now and I had an idea earlier today I thought might be interesting: Tezzeret Bomberman.  I was thinking of a list something like this:

23 Mana:
4 Underground Sea
3 Island
3 Polluted Delta
2 Tundra
2 Flooded Strand
1 Tolarian Academy
1 Library of Alexandria
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Ruby
1 Sol Ring

6 Combo Pieces:
2 Tezzeret
1 Voltaic Key
1 Time Vault
1 Auriok Salvagers
1 Aether Spellbomb

6 Tutor:
4 Trinket Mage
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Demonic Tutor

13 Control:
4 Force of Will
3 Daze/Negate
3 Aven Mindslicer/Jotun Grunt
2 Misdirection
1 Tormod's Crypt

12 Draw:
4 Dark Confidant
3 Ninja of the Deep Hour
2 Sensei's Divining Top
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Brainstorm
1 Ponder

Again, this is just an idea.  It's more or less a combo Fish deck.  Thoughts?

UPDATE: Here is a new list that I just came up with:
22 Mana:
    1  Black Lotus
    1  Mox Jet
    1  Mox Pearl
    1  Mox Sapphire
    1  Island
    1  Volcanic Island
    1  Academy Ruins
    1  Strip Mine
    2  Wasteland
    2  Flooded Strand
    3  Polluted Delta
    3  Tundra
    4  Underground Sea

15 Creatures:
    4  Dark Confidant
    3  Cursecatcher
    3  Trinket Mage
    3  Meddling Mage
    2  Jotun Grunt

23 Other:
    4  Force of Will
    4  Duress
    3  Scarscale Ritual
    1 Brainstorm
    1 Ancestral Recall
    1 Vampiric Tutor
    1 Demonic Tutor
    1 Time Vault
    1 Voltaic Key
    1 Time Walk
    1 Skullclamp
    1 Tormod's Crypt
    1 Engineered Explosives
    1 Sensei's Divining Top
    1 Aether Vial

Sideboard:
3 Swords to Plowshare
3 Hide/Seek
2 Kataki, Wars Wage
2 Ethersworn Canonist
2 Aether Vial
1 Aether Spellbomb
1 Tormod's Crypt
1 Engineered Explosives
13  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Premium Article] So Many Insane Plays - Ad Nauseam Combo on: October 16, 2008, 10:01:02 pm
Out of the first post I wrote on this forum, the only part I stick to is dropping the Fetchlands.  It's really not worth it in my testing.  Instead, I run all moxen, including the off-color moxen and Gemstone Mine.  I've found it more helpful to not lose life when using Mines then the thinning that comes from using Fetchlands.
14  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Premium Article] So Many Insane Plays - Ad Nauseam Combo on: October 16, 2008, 03:47:27 pm
That was pointed out to me the first time I tried it.
15  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Premium Article] So Many Insane Plays - Ad Nauseam Combo on: October 16, 2008, 02:36:43 pm
Hello, I had a few questions about this deck.  First, have you tried running 5C lands rather than fetch lands, specifically Gem Stone Mine?  Also, how about Burning Wish?  You could throw it in there rather than the fourth Tendrils or Nauseam.  Also, how about Personal Tutor since it is now unrestricted?  Finally, the deck could use a little more draw.  How about the prospect of using off color moxen?  I think it would help with the deck.  The off-color moxen plus 1-2 Chrome Mox.

EDIT: It was just pointed out to me that Nauseam is an instant, not a sorcery.  I was not aware of this.  Disregard my comment about Personal Tutor.
16  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: The State of Control Slaver on: October 13, 2008, 07:26:48 pm
neotrophy: I actually run a single Tundra in my manabase and 5-6 Fetchlands (haven't really decided on the correct number yet).  As for Wish and Seal, when Seal was first legalized, I can remember a few (like 5 or so) decks that t8ed around the nation using it.  As for Wish, about that same time, several lists were running 1-2 Wishes in their main with the Echoing Truths in the side.  A good many of them also used Gush in the side, which is where I got the idea from, and I personally think it's a great idea, since it can save your lands from being manhandled and can also give you the boost you need to make Library playable.  Anyway, I'm rambling now.

P.S. Just try running a single Tundra and Sharuum.  It can be a brutal card, especially with Gifts.

EDIT: After going back through to the old decks, I discovered they never did use Seal actually.  I guess it must have just been some big discussion I was in at the time.

EDIT2: Thoughts on Trash for Treasure?
17  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: The State of Control Slaver on: October 13, 2008, 02:59:49 pm
I liked the build you just posted, however, I would like to see Strategic Planning in there somewhere.  If I were running the deck I would like to see Sharuum in there.  It's not as hard to cast as you would think and he's a big flying Sphinx.

EDIT: I'm actually only running 1 Sharuum at the moment, and it may be axed.  I'm also running 1 maindecked Platinum Angel, though I believe that may see the axe eventually.  For the record, I'm also running Gush (it's great with Library).
18  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Deck Discussion] GI's (Hadley) Control Tezzeret on: October 13, 2008, 02:46:50 pm
I think Stifle-Naught could (at least) find a place in this deck.  I know the deck is already looking fairly tight, however, if you are trying to run a control-deck here, I think Stifle could be of much use to you, and getting to throw 1-2 Naughts in there would probably not be a bad idea either.  I will admit that I have been out of the Vintage loop for awhile, but the last time I played, Stifle was amazing, as a resolved spell stops: FETCHLANDS, Tangle Wire, Chalice, Titan (including your own) and Triskelion's abilities, and Gaea's Blessing; and at least stalls Welder, Oath, Storm, Bazaar, random Equipment, and Counterbalance.  I would try running 3 Stifle and 1 Naught main.

Gush anyone?  I would like to see it in there personally.
19  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: The State of Control Slaver on: October 13, 2008, 02:09:28 pm
Alright, so I'm fairly new to posting here (hell, this may be my first actual post, though I've been looking on these boards for a long time), so I'm not sure everything I should include in an opening post.  Regardless, I've been working on a CS deck recently.  I've personally found that Sharuum the Hegemon works quite well in the deck.  I can post my current decklist (although not exactly "janky," it does have some problems) later if anyone is interested.  Finally, are Cunning Wish, Vampiric Tutor and Imperial Seal no longer used in the deck?
20  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [article] WGDX vs GAT on: October 27, 2007, 05:45:45 am
My only problem I've found playing with WGDX is Extirpate.  Quite frankly, I love the deck.  Anyone who knows me would know I absolutely adore WGD, since the day I discovered the combo.  It is, in all honesty, my favorite deck of all time.  I even have 14 WGD, including 2 foil.  Nonetheless, I retired from playing D2460N the day I discovered Extirpate's ability.  Also, I would like to comment on the pure power of Extirpate.  I am currently working on a UBw Landstill deck at the moment.  I'm yet to test it, though I believe it would be quite powerful in the current meta.

But I digress.  I am still a fan of the deck, even though Extirpate still looms.  Additionally, I like the addition of the Oaths.  My biggest question about your particular build is the absence of Xantid.  Why would you not want the inclusion of this card at the very least as a 1 of in a meta with GAT as the deck to beat (I'm mostly basing this on this year's worlds)?

In conclusion, I have played Dragon probably more than any other deck all in all, as I've been playing with it off and on since the discovery of the combo.  I don't like the idea of Leyline and Extirpate being pretty much an auto-loss for this deck.  However, I do like the idea of changing out the normal plan into Oath against aggro decks.  Life from the Loam is indeed an amazing card.  I ran one in my old version of this deck and it did quite well.  As for Squee, he seems rather retro active with the side plan of Oath, doesn't he?
