Couldn't play as a result of the event being on a Saturday but I did eventually show up and grind some games afterwards for a couple hours. I love seeing vintage in Michigan again.

In continuing our newly resurrected tradition of Monthly Vintage, our next event will be on March 30th. We will follow the same format, $10 entry with all entry fees paid back in Store Credit to top 8. We had 18 in January and 16 in February, so hopefully we can top those numbers for March.

Store opens at noon on Sundays and we will start taking sign ups immediately, keeping it open until the tournament starts at 1 pm. We will ask for a filled out deck list so we can post them afterwards.

I think he should be allowed to play 8 or even 12 genju of the spires if he attends.

I will not have a single genju of any variety in my deck, for the record.
22  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Huzzah Hobbies Vintage Results, Ashburn, VA on: April 01, 2011, 12:17:24 am

The best part of my night was telling my wife that when she killed someone (me) on turn one with Belcher, it was tradition to stand on your chair and shout, "Turn one kill!" Then next game I did it to her with Leyline-Helm.

Thats my favorite part of vintage.
23  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Player report - top8 at Pandemonium 2/20 on: February 22, 2011, 02:29:20 am
Well done.

I found that against storm combo I boarded out the 2 annul and the explosives for the thoughtseize, spell pierce and mindbreak trap, and if they had confidants took out the hurkyls and ponder for 2 darkblasts. I dont know anymore than you if its the best assembly, but it worked.

Against oath I took out the confidants for plagues and doom blades, and the ponder for spell pierce. Seemed solid enough.

Shops the plan was to take out the spell pierce, one jace, ponder (I hated ponder and boarded it out alot) and a thoughtseize for the 2 doom blade and 2 steel sabotage.

Against Gush the plan was spell pierce and thoughtseize over annul and leave as is.

I felt most of the time like I would have liked one more artifact, maybe a pithing needle, in the main.

Glad the list treated you well, excited you played it, and happy to congratulate you.

I just made top8 (of 26 people) with your list today. I'll see if I can get a post up about it.

Congrats man. I would love to read about it.
25  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: What formats do you play? on: February 19, 2011, 02:42:57 am
I started drafting so I could play when there was no vintage. Then I started playing legacy because there simply was no vintage. I started EDH because my friends played it, and I hoped to trick them into playing vintage. Now I seem to play more legacy than anything because it tends to be what is happening, but we are slowly bringing vintage around and if we can keep an interest in it I would like it to be my primary format once more.

Definitely will. I am sure you will play MUD again as it treated you pretty well... you should consider trying out phyrexian revoker.
I probably would have if I hadn't traded several of mine that weekend. If only he could name Bazaar...

I'd love to play Keeper if I can figure out a build of it that I'm confident in, but yeah, it'd be tough for me to justify sleeving a deck without Metalworkers at this point.

I dont know about a list but if it becomes a matter of cards I usually have stuff to borrow if you hit me up beforehand.

No worries. Very Happy Thanks; grats on the Jace. Hope to see you at the next one.

Definitely will. I am sure you will play MUD again as it treated you pretty well... you should consider trying out phyrexian revoker.
28  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Results / decklists for Knight Ware's 2/13/11 tourny on: February 16, 2011, 03:04:00 pm
The bomberman tendrils list was kind of a mess, Tony said he really didnt like having both strategies and decided to change it up to a drain tendrils list after the tournament. I am sure the list can be posted.

I am with Saspook here. The new Tezz was amazing to play with, made for some really fun games. Steel sabotage came in for me round one and in the finals, and I was happy to have the pair. I didnt use the blightsteel and there were games where it mattered that I had battlesphere.

Beaux had revokers in round one against me, they were a little annoying because they attack but didnt actually impact very much. I only ended up with three Besieged cards but I will definitely continue to have at least those three in my 75 for next time, maybe more.

Heya. This is James, I was piloting the MUD deck in the finals (think you wrote down John by mistake). I am a fan of the Tezz in the decklist and I think he's legit in the format.

Tournament was fun, hoping to see more Vintage action in the area. I'll definitely be back for the next one.

I am sorry man, it was me trying to grind it out quickly, I wrote your name down correctly and then just typed it wrong. I fixed it. Congrats on your library.
30  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: FULL E-Book: Why Ichor Wellspring Will Dominate Vintage. Now with Part Deux on: February 14, 2011, 04:13:03 pm
I almost didnt read this. Then I found an ichor wellspring chillin with a teddy bear (not full of heroin, no worries) layin under my bed, and I thought wait, did I put these here? And then I thought no, so I decided to research it. My research kept leading back here.
