Going back a bit to alternative win conditions, Replenishing Opalescence+Pandemonium (with a few other enchantments being returned) is harder to hate (such as with Needle) than Saproling Burst.
Replenishing 2 Pandemoniums and an Opalescence is 18 damage, which is often lethal. Add an Oath or anything else and you have guaranteed lethal.

Going this route means you'll want more Pandemoniums, but also opens up the option of the Enchanted Evening/Opalescence lock and Decree of Silence.

I'm not sure how much of an improvement it would be, since you are dropping the Bursts but adding more enchantments than you are removing.

Figured I'd throw it out there.
2  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Aggro & Control, the real meaning: Mr. Gaddock on: November 11, 2008, 10:33:16 pm
This has been quoted several times and yet no one has pointed something critical out:

RE: Sower,  I think you should give Gilded Drake a shot.  Not only is he way easier to hard cast at 1U but he is already at the magic number for Vial so you can slip him in without fear of anything but a stifle.

Gilded Drake's trigger can't be Stifled (thanks to an odd rules job they did to get it to sacrifice correctly), unless they want to waste the stifle on your Vial activation.

Though this wasn't likely a major concern, it does increase the power of Gilded Drake slightly.

I have finally made an entry.  I hate Null Rod SO MUCH that I had to make the following changes:

Hehe. Nice. Quite simple but clever, and it made me chuckle.

5  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: [Poll]: When did you start playing Magic seriosuly? on: April 26, 2007, 05:05:45 am
I started playing tournies in Odyssey block, starting with the Odyssey prerelease.
By your definition, I started playing seriously at the start of Onslaught block, but I focused mostly on limited until Mirrodin.
My love of rogue decks kept me from doing particularly well in any constructed format for those first couple years, but I've always been pretty competitive in limited.

I'll update if I find anything else.. If anyone else can find something please feel free to post it... There aren't many clips of this off youtube.

This thread reminded me of the glory that is Perfect Hair Forever, so I made the avatar you requested as thanks.
Here are a couple different versions of the Coiffio avatar:

(This one is a bit large, but I couldn't slim it down without destroying the color quality)

I couldn't find a scene with a good view of Coiffio and the whole color cycle, but I think these 2 came out ok with just part of the cycle.

I got the source video by converting youtube footage into .avi with a handy online converter, http://vixy.net/

Hello all.
My name is Nation and I live in Colorado, US.
I've been playing magic off and on since 2001.

I was big into 5-color for a while until the 5C community here declined when the host store closed.
I have tried to stay up to date with Standard, but don't have the money to keep buying new stuff.

I attend all the prereleases and do occasional other limited events, but have otherwise been out of magic for a while. I recently decided to give Vintage and Legacy a chance, since there are occasionally proxy vintage tournies around, and I can afford the investment to get going in Legacy.
