I have a suggestion, and inevitably it will cost you more slots. But why don't you use 4x Dread Return, 1x Bladewing the Risen, 1x Bogarden Hellkite, 1x Bladewing's Thrall for the kill rather than the Sutured Ghoul/Lord of Extinction. Heres how it works: Sac Narco for Bladewing the Risen, Target Hellkite and return, Thrall will immediately follow suit allowing you repeat flashback on the Return to kill your opponent with 20 points of damage.

However I do have a side note, decks involving the graveyard such as dragon and your suggested deck, are extremely weakened by graveyard hate, (as i'm sure you know).  Even though players use a core set of Yard killers (Leyline,Tormod's/Relic and Faerie Macabre) there is such a wide variety of hate your deck is still susceptible to in addition to the yard killers. Making this deck much easier to disrupt than others. Hate cards such as Chain of Vapor are currently maindecked. I'm curious do you have a plan for those other than Thoughtseize/Duress?
2  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / What have (DC) I done on: September 24, 2008, 11:39:23 am
Some months have passed since I have read about the vintage apocalypse and I wasn't quite sure if any of Smmenen's predictions would come true however, when i had a large group of friends over a couple of nights ago to play some vintage magic the nightmare of what he said became a reality. As I shuffled together a nearly demolished Doomsday deck one of my good friends sat down next to me to show me his newly crafted machine gun, and the first card i saw was a sphere of resistance. No worries i said to myself i can handle his deck with no problems and as i dug through his deck it was just as i suspected a workshop prison deck of some sort. So he sat down in front of me and began shuffling for a match. I had two choices here, attempt to outrun him with a turn 1 doomsday kill (hopefully, i hadn't drawn yet). Or try to stall for a period and win outright. We rolled a die and I lost the die roll ( I rarely win the die roll anyway). So he opted to go first and I drew my seven. My opening hand was shabby to say the least but, rather than take a mulligan I opted to stall. My opening had contained Street Wraith, Mox Jet, Polluted Delta, Gemstone Mine, Doomsday, Merchant Scroll, and a Vampiric Tutor. After seeing this hand I thought to myself let him drop a slew of artifact and I'll scroll for a hurkyl's and win shortly after, but was i wrong. His first turn drop was a Workshop followed by a sphere of resistance. I drew into a Duress and cast it. His hand contained a smokestack, null rod, trinisphere, strip mine and crucible. first of all i feel that my friend had made a huge misplay by dropping a sphere first and not trinisphere but i decided if i don't rob that crucible out from under him he'll win out right with me sitting on no lands. so i took his crucible and passed the turn. he drops his mine and follows with trinisphere and i was locked in. some turns passed and he emptied his hand and i had not nearly enough mana from smokestack trinisphere sphere and null rod out. so i conceded rather than slamming my head into the table until I was unconscious. I looked at the top 3 cards the second from the top was hurkyl's... Now I know a lot of players will be quick to point out that I had kept a semi bad hand and made some misplays (vamp for hurkyll's and pray i can cast it would have been a good choice too) however that was not the point of this the point is that Brainstorm helped keep workshop decks in check as being a faster draw card and had there been 4 in my deck it would have ultimately increased my chances of winning which with brainstorm gone I feel it might not be long before workshop and ritual will be on the cutting board as well. How does everyone else feel about it? I know Personal Tutor should make for the lack but, I don't feel like its nearly as strong.

i didnt say that this was a better plan than flash i only stated that this was the build i played before the errata on flash was removed with flash now able to "see" the card coming in and going out of play this deck can be alot better for example:

4 Scrubland
4 Caves of Koilos
3 Phyrexian Tower

4 Academy Rector
4 Children of Korlis

4 Cabal Therapy
4 Duress
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Pearl
1 Lion's Eye Diamond
1 Lotus Petal
1 Mox Diamond
1 Chrome Mox
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mana Vault
1 Sol Ring
4 Dark Ritual
1 Null Profusion
1 Necropotence
1 Yawgmoth's Bargain
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Imperial Seal
1 Tendrils of Agony
4 Flash
3 Merchant Scroll

Im not really sure what the count is now in the deck but with the addition of those cards it could be a new headache for other players to go against. i have yet to play test it...
4  Eternal Formats / Creative / Rector/Bargain combo in Vintage on: May 30, 2007, 06:06:31 pm
This is the Rector/Bargain build i was playing prior to the errata removal on flash.

4 Scrubland
4 Caves of Koilos
3 Phyrexian Tower

4 Academy Rector
4 Children of Korlis

4 Cabal Therapy
4 Duress
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Lion's Eye Diamond
1 Lotus Petal
1 Mox Diamond
1 Chrome Mox
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mana Vault
1 Sol Ring
4 Dark Ritual
1 Null Profusion
1 Necropotence
1 Yawgmoth's Bargain
1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Imperial Seal
1 Death Wish
1 Tendrils of Agony
2 Diabolic Intent
7 Other cards i cant seem to remember

I have played and test played this deck over and over and the results have always been pretty fair with very few wins past turn three. It's also fairly simple to play. Just drop and ample amount of excellerants to play rector and therapy (if Therapy was lacking then turn 2 with a Phyrexian Tower). Cabal Therapy with its flashback back is a fairly viable disruption to me which can definately take any opposing threats to your combo out of your opponents hands. Then tutor for Bargain pay a large amount of life ( within the range of 10 to 15 and sometimes 19 if you see no threats to stop you) draw into a  {W} mana producer then play and sacrifice Children of Korlis to get the life you payed back (paying life does count as loss of life). and continue pay to bargain play a  {W} play and sac Children till you get Tendrils and  {2}  {B}  {B} and 9 spells for the win. Now that the flash errata is gone this deck could be insane in vintage. hope this gave some people some deck building ideas. possibly a primer to come later.

Moved to Vintage Improvement Forum.  Furthermore, please keep in mind the rules here at TMD, specifically number 4, Lack of Content.
