yea i know the feeling i live in north Carolina and i couldn't get a full set of power.i was missing a recall and a black lotus i got everything else but gas just said no your not going.

i dont care if this is a small tournament this is only my third vintage tournament in my life and i make 6th sweet.....if only i would have tested vs gat more. i tested everything.i also punted round one vs grim long. i kept a bad hand game one and game 2 after knowing what he was i kept a even worse hand and forgot to sb in the right cards yea it was a long night.luckly after that i woke up and started winning.fav play
turn one
black lotus, underground sea, mox jet, sac lotus for triple blue
play nought, stifle, tap jet for black and play time walk.yes i know ballsy with no counter in hand but i wanted to win this game quick it paid off.
i swung for 12 on my opponent first turn he bounces the nought. i top deck a stifle my opponent draws and scoops.

funny i used squee with deep and it worked great it was a way that in the gat matchup i could stay ahead on *read*non counterable card advantage helping shore up the control match wins game everything else you can blow out of the water.plus with intuition you can go find 3 squee it works. just an idea.

how come you dont play squee?

also you can win with duress and other threats coming at you....you need to test the deck before knocking it i will gladly play you on mws if you want pm me and set up a game.

but here is what i remembered
round one i played against mono red burn
i won 2-1 game one i won turn 2 only bc i did not see a way to do it turn one. there was one though. i went infinite and killed him.
game 2 he burned me out with burn and firecats by turn 3.
game 3 turn one win -man that was fun.

round 2 against gush tinker i lost 2-0 both games i got greedy
game one i went off without couinter backup and he bounced the dragon.
g2 i went with oath and it just did not get to the board.

round 3 i went up against a gush infinite life decking land combo deck*weird*
game one i win with artifact mana a bazzar and a black lotus went infinite and finally got lotus into play with witness and other goodies finally i kill him.
g2 he wins i forget how he goes off
g3 we tie with me one turn away from winning.....i mean we draw in time.

round 4 goblins
game one i win on turn 3 with me at 2 life.machine gun to the dome.
game 2 i go oath he starts out with mulligan till he gets to leyline of the void.....oath hoses him i oath turn one and get akroma and razia on board for the win.
i ended up 5th at the tourny dont know what i will do next time though.


i do have some good advice for people who do the trasformational board it hurt me alot bc people could see me sb in alot of cards and they new what i was doing.well do this g2 shuffle yuor sb into your md and then take out the 15 cards you are not planning on running they will not know what version g2 you will bring.

im the dragon guy......yea i screwed up that game vs gush tendrils i should have waited and not tried to force the win.if i was more patient i could have won...my opponent played good though.

Once again great article i just have one question, for the purpose of these questions let's assume that i am using the wgd deck from the article as the base.
1: When you sb for the oath package what do you take out. im wondering if there are better targets to let stay in.

why did they unrestrict gush again?
look at the indy report all but one deck in the top 8 were  a gat deck. the cary nc tournament had what 5 gat decks in the top 8. now i played gat there to but come on why did they unrestrict the card it degenerates the format.....wait why am i complaining go GAT lets ride this puppy all the way (again).

hey all this was my first real type 1 tournament and i played gat. I did great.....yea right. i had fun though i made deck wrong that sucked oh well look forward to doing it again let me know cody next time you do one of these ok.

i have a tournament this saturday im using gat and i used the process that menendian described but i have one problem i have never played against a competent stax player and i dont know what do to do what is the optimal sb for them and what do you take out.for this theory im using the deck that stephen won the world championship with to figure this one out thanks.
