In terms of creatures, the only other real choice seems to be tarmogoyf. While I love the thought that bitterblosssom and bob might get you there (and to be fair they have proven that they can in standard, extended and legacy), I think goyf is simply still underrated in vintage and is a must. Yes first turn negator is sexy and I love that guy too, but goyf is just an amazing threat and makes hands without rituals much more bearable. Another option would be moving into white just ever so slightly and giving tidehollow sculler a shot. Although mesmeric fiend has been around for quite some time and has seen only minor play. Maybe scullers second power makes him good enough...

So, if anyone is still reading this thread, I have some new results from testing to offer up, While I found Blood Moon to be effective, Stevens statement of Back to Basics being better struck me as something worth challenging. So I swapped my two Blood Moons and my lone Mountain for two Back to Basics and a single Island and shuffled up. The version I was using was the original posted version -1 Swords to Plowshares and -1 Argavian Find for the two B2B. When Back to Basics resolved, it almost singlehandedly won. While not as dominant against the storm decks in our gauntlet as Blood Moon, it was much more effective than its red cousin against Workshop decks and Fish decks; Chant into Back to Basics against a tapped out Stax or Stiflenaught build (seemingly the most popular of the Fish variants in Northern California) all but wrapped up the game. Over all, I think Back to Basics to be the superior choice for the main deck over Blood Moon. Is either of them the optimal choice for their two card slots? Unfortunately testing time is short and I cannot accurately of definitively answer that question. I feel there is certainly some merit to a long term-mana denial slot or two. I understand this is not the most extensive post and this is not the hot thread anymore, but I felt my meager findings worth posting. I hope everyone has a happy holiday season and I hope Worlds shakes up standard...

I tinkered around with this list for a bit and I found cutting cutting a Find and a Swords to Plowshares (along with swapping a Plains for a Mountain) for two copies of Blood Moon to be pretty effective. Compounding the decks mana denial goals with color denial proved to simply fold many decks. It has a similar effect to Aura of Silence in the workshop match-up and helped make Aven Mind Censor EVEN better. That said, turning top-decked Wastelands into mountains was unfortunate some times, but the symmetry was far out weighed by its power. It could easily be that Magus of the Moon is better but being able to tutor up and recur Blood Moon seems superior to me.
