Good day mister Menendian,
I' from Québec City, in an aggro oriented meta, and I want to stop playing Landstill to try TPS instead. What should I need to change to your list to help me win my matchs against decks like Merfolk, BUG fish, R/G Beats and Bomberman ?
Last tournament, with landstill, I won 2 matchs against Mono-Red Stax and 1 agianst dragon, and lost 1 to dredge, 1 to dragon (oath in sideboard) and 1 to a UW faerie/canonnist.
Here's the meta of our last tournament, and the top 8.
Voici la Metagame Breakdown: 3 Tezzeret 1 Cerebral Assassin 3 R-G Beatz 1 Mono-Red Control 1 Merflok 1 UBG Fish 1 UWB Fish 3 Suicide Black 2 Dragon 3 Long 4 Workshop Aggro 4 Bomberman 1 Goblin R-B 1 U-W Control 1 High_Tide_Timespiral combo 1 Madness B-R 1 B-W Fish 2 Suicide B-G 3 Painter 2 Dredge 3 Oath (1 Tyrant, 2 Angel) 1 U-B fish 1 WW 1 WG aggro 1 SX 1 Landstill 1 Sligh 1 DrainTendrils 1 Kavu_predator 2 Autre
Top8 : Simon Cliche-Lamoureux (Merfolk) vs Joel Neveu (Taïga) Philippe Gareau (Mono-Red Control) vs Ugo Rivard (Mind of the Seeker) Karl Linteau (BUG Fish) vs Samuel Vaillancourt (Cerebral Assassin) Simon Guérette (Tezzeret) vs Ian Sauvé (Mind of the Seeker)
You are talking about some change in your sideboard against an aggro meta, can you tell us what those change are ?
Thank you very much in advance for your time, I really appreciate your articles, I'm a premium member only to read you.
Sorry for my english.

After years of playing UR Fish, I decided to come with a UR Landstill deck instead. More control, more angry opponent, that's what I really like !!
Terres Immobilisées "UR Landstill"
Lands 4 Volcanic Island 1 Polluted Delta ( I don't have 2 Delta sadly) 4 Flooded Strand 4 Wasteland 1 Strip Mine 2 Island 4 Mishra's Factory 3 Faerie Conclave 1 Library of Alexandria
Artéfact 1 Black Lotus 1 Mox Sapphire 1 Mox Ruby 4 Null Rod 1 Crucible of Worlds
Instant 1 Ancestrall Recall 4 Force of Will 4 Stifle 4 Mana Drain 3 Misdirection 2 Echoing Truth 1 Chain of Vapor 4 Fire/Ice
Sorcery 1 Time Walk
Enchantment 4 Standstill
Sideboard 2 Pyroblast 3 Threads of Disloyalty 4 Chalice of the Void 3 Rack and Ruin 3 Red Elemental Blast
I wish to improve that list. It's surely possible.
Should I put a Brainstorm somewhere ? Is 2 Echoing Truth and 1 Chain of Vapor maindeck good enough ? Should I put a Steam Vent, a basic Mountain ?
For the sideboard... Is no graveyard hate a good idea ? 3 REB and 2 pyroblast, too many ?
My metagame is really strange and diversify in Québec City. In the last major tournament, the meta looks like that
3 Suicide Black 3 Painters 1 Mask-Dreadnought 2 Control SLaver 1 G-W-R aggro 1 Flash 1 Goblins 2 GAT 2 U-R Control 1 Parfait 6 Bomberman 3 others 1 Affinity 2 Briseur de rêve 1 Squirrels 1 TPS 2 B-G suicide 2 Oath 1 G-R Beatz 1 Workshop Aggro 1 Dredge 1 Le 5e Element
But it was BEFORE june 20th.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can possibly give me and sorry for my english, I'm from Québec and my first language is french.

Street Wraith versus Petrfied Field: Street Wraith gives you one extra draw on turn 1 while Petrified Field provides two extra draws on turn 3 and every turn after turn 3. The relevant question here is how much better is that extra draw on turn 1? If you are playing Goblins or Flash and you really want that first creature or two in play to block Lackey or block enough Slivers to survive then the draw on turn 1 matters. Also if you want to combo out on turn 2 then Petrified Field does nothing, while Stree Wraith gives you that extra draw. Since in the current meta it is far more likely that you will be facing heavy aggro + Wasteland, I find Petrified Field to be the vastly superior card. Consider the top decks right now. GAT and Empty Gush rarely win on turn 1 or 2. I realize there are plenty of Fastbond, I win hands that occur on turns 1 and 2 but this is rare. They are generally looking to win around turn 4 and possibly push through on turn 3. In this case Petrified Field is the better card. Against Stax or Shop Aggro Petrified Field is the better card. Against Fish Petrified Field is the better card. Against Deez Goyfs, SS and Deez Noughts Petrified Field is the better card. Against Oath Petrified Field is better. Basically the only two exceptions are Long and Flash and even Long is less likely to win turn 2 than it used to be.
Next time, try to read everything before asking something

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but I'm really interrested in this Wizard Deck. It look that this deck got a good start back in octobre and I wonder if someone still play it. If so, Do it get good result ? And is this deck better or at least as good as a fish deck, like URBana and UWB ? Welcome to TMD! Thread necromancy is against the rules. If you want to start a discussion about this deck, please start a new thread instead of resurrecting an old one full of obsolete information. -Klep

Thank you very much for your help For the Thoughtseize, do you mean that you will play 4 Thoughtseize AND 4 Duress or only the Thoughtseize ? And I just think about that, is the addition of Grim Lavamancer can be a good thing? It's a great card that can easily kill a lot of creatures.

Not that I have read a lot of thing about URBana Fish, I think it's time to change mu UR and add a little bit of black. I won't cost me a lot anyway.
But now, i'm lost. I haven't read a reply about URBana Fish for less than a month (or I can't just find one), and I don't want to necro the other thread, so I'm not sure of what the deck should look like right now, with that strange Meta that have changed so much lately. I have found a decklist from september that look interesting :
Mainboard:
2 Underground Sea 3 Volcanic Island 1 Strip Mine 4 Wasteland 3 Polluted Delta 3 Flooded Strand 1 Badlands 1 Island
3 Gorilla Shaman 4 Ninja of the Deep Hours 4 Dark Confidant 4 Mogg Fanatic
3 Control Magic 1 Ancestral Recall 1 Time Walk 2 Mana Leak 3 Red Elemental Blast 4 Duress 4 Force of Will 1 Black Lotus 1 Mox Jet 1 Mox Emerald 1 Mox Pearl 1 Mox Ruby 1 Mox Sapphire 1 Demonic Tutor 2 Spell Snare
# 60
Sideboard:
3 Rack and Ruin 3 Pyroblast 4 Leyline of the Void 2 Flametongue Kavu 3 Pithing Needle
# 15
I'm not sure where to go from there... Control Magic ? Spell Snare ? REB Mainboard ? Maybe split Duress with Thoughtseize? Too much moxen? No Misdirection ?
Some one can help me ? I really hope that fish is not dead...

Good day, This is my first post as a member, but I read a lot of thread in this forum, that is really helpfull. I'm a Vintage player for the last 4 or 5 years, mostly with friends, but in tournament in Québec City too. By the way, sorry for my english, it's not my first language. I have always played UR Fish. I'm the kind of player that prefer long game, with a lot of control and with usefull creatures that can do things other than just attack of block. My deck is complete, except for the power card that I proxies. But, I know that UR Fish is no longer a competitive deck, but I can't think of playing something else, mostly because I don't have the money to buy more duals or powerful cards. There's my list for now. Lands (19) 4 Volcanic Island 3 Polluted Delta 4 Flooded Strand 2 Island 1 Mountain 4 Wasteland 1 Strip Mine Creatures (20) 4 Grim Lavamancer 4 Ninja of the Deep Hours 3 Waterfront Bouncer 3 Magus of the Moon 3 Gorilla Shaman 3 Razorfin Hunter Spells (22) 4 Force of Will 4 Brainstorm 3 Daze 3 Fire/Ice 3 Swords of Fire and Ice 2 Pyrokinesis 1 Ancestrall Recall 1 Mox Sapphire 1 Time Walk I like to play it, but I know that it's not enough good to stop the most powerful deck. There's like no synergie in my deck... my creatures are just there, looking for my opponent to play something to react, without dealing damage to him... I'm thinking of playing Stifle, Crucible of Worlds, maybe Jitte over Swords of Fire and Ice.... Any Ideas ? Thank you very much
