Corn Nuts and Whipped Cream.
2  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Deck Protectors? on: August 08, 2004, 02:02:30 am
Ben, you know you want to play 5color.

Yes, the Japanese SuperOrange are sooo good.  Yes you might replace them often, but they are sooooooo good.
3  Eternal Formats / Creative / List of playable type-1 cards - great for deckbuilders on: August 07, 2004, 02:43:36 am
I have a similar list of actual cards in boxes.

Whenever I purchase new cards, packs, or after a draft, or what not, I take all cards that could theoretically be played in a constructed format, (including 5color, block, standard, extended, vintage etc) and put up to 4 of any card into a sleeve.  Henceforth, I have playsets of most constructed star cards.  They are sorted by color, and by color into alphabetical order.  It makes deckbuilding so fast.  I don't have to scrable to find the cards.  Whenever I am done with a deck, I desleeve it and put the cards back.

This is offtopic I know, but serious constructed players will take heed of this list and perhaps into their playboxes.

In non tournament play, no sleeves is the way to go.  Raw dawg power on the table.Smile

That is just sickening/disgusting.
6  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Crucible Control - Let's forget combo and go for control on: May 06, 2004, 10:01:06 pm
This just reminds me of a bad Shining deck.  You could take a Keeper skeleton, and add the Crucible combo, totally dilute the manabase, and waste slots, or you could just play regular Keeper instead.
7  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Control Slaver on: May 06, 2004, 09:57:43 pm

I found that landstill isn't extremely weak vs. control slaver, but I default to those whom have played the matchup more than I.

Landstill's best matchup is the control mirror.  However, in this matchup, Control Slaver has to be the beatdown/aggressor.  Be aggresive with Thirst and Welders.
8  Eternal Formats / Creative / Stasis w/ life gain - doesn't quite work on: May 06, 2004, 12:00:28 pm
Two words: God Awful.

Seriously, if they counter your Stasis, (and your only protection is 4 Force), you scoop up your cards.  You can do nothing against, say, a Psychatog deck.
9  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Deck] tweaking EBA on: May 04, 2004, 12:19:07 pm
Quote
Skeletal Scrying is just the BOMB in EBA. I'm up to 3 and i'm never looking back, EVAR. I think the only controversial issue left is whether or not Wastelands belong in the deck at all, along with the off color Moxen.

I also LOVE 3 Skeletal Scrying.  I do play Wastelands, but not with off-colored moxen.  The Wastelands are just so good against so many decks. </obvious>
10  Eternal Formats / Creative / [DECK] Trying to make random Sneak Attack deck viable on: May 04, 2004, 12:03:42 pm
So what do you do when Serum Powder is not in your opening hand and you draw into it later? A dead topdeck? Not good at all.
11  Eternal Formats / Creative / [Applying Theory] Building a Deck: the Draw on: May 04, 2004, 12:02:32 pm
Sylvan Library + Abundance

Though it appears to be good only in 5C.

I also fully agree with the posters here that said that either splash (white or red) improves the deck drastically.

Isn't this true for any monocolored deck?

With so many colors....

15  Eternal Formats / Creative / [DECK] Trying to make random Sneak Attack deck viable on: April 30, 2004, 01:25:28 am

The biggest problem with the deck is the dependancy of Sneak Atack and without it, you're basically screwed.

So basically, you're saying that you scoop to:

Force of Will
Mana Drain
Mana Leak
Counterspell
Annul
etc.

And as far as Dr. Sylvan's reports tell us, Force of Will is a largely played card.

And the only way you have to counteract this, is 4 REB in the board.

You may want to rethink this.

Red Elemental Blast

Second, I don't have any more than 2 Piledrivers. No big deal, they're powerful, but 2 works just fine.

No.   You have to draw them often, because they are so good.   It is worth 15 dollars to have the playset.
18  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Standstill in fish, still the best fit? on: April 26, 2004, 10:27:13 am
I don't see how Curiosity can ever be better than Standstill.

Smother and STP are the most common spot removal cards in existance.  The 2 for 1 risk is just too high with STP.
19  Eternal Formats / Creative / StuffStill: Stuff and Still. on: April 26, 2004, 10:25:09 am
No list?

Sounds like the manabase is terrible, and that your deck is trying to do too many different things, and therefore will be inconsistent.

Red Elemental Blast is the only good sideboard card in Landstill...

I'm not meaning to flame but I've lost the point of why you're thinking Mind Twist doesn't do as well as Duress.

Because turn 1 Duress with Force in hand is so good against combo.
21  Eternal Formats / Creative / [Deck]Parfait for Critique on: April 26, 2004, 10:07:21 am
Mountain is better than Chrome Mox in this deck.

Blood Moon pwnage
22  Eternal Formats / Creative / Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap on: April 24, 2004, 03:58:42 pm
Now this just looks like a bad B/G Suicide deck. And we all know how bad that is.

Please refrain from the habitual one line posts. -Dr. Sylvan
23  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Discussion] How necassary is red in GAT? on: April 23, 2004, 10:15:36 am
The optimal Growing Tog list has Duress in the board to make the combo matchup better.  Barring amazing topdecks, Duress with Force backup is a very strong hand against combo and should win you the game.

Isochron Scepter is not a Growing Tog card.  The only decks I can ever see the card in, is in Keeper and Tog builds.  And tell me who doesn't play with artifact removal in the board, let alone maindeck.
24  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Hulk Smash with a different spin... on: April 23, 2004, 10:10:52 am
At the beginning of the list, with no Duress, I figured that it would be more geared toward comboing out with a Tog.  Then I saw deuce Fire/Ice and Deed.  It seems like you're torn between going combo and going control, which may not be good.  I do love Fire/Ice as a one-of in Tog, however.  It is randomly good.

Library has to be included over the second Wasteland.  Unanswered, Library of Alexandria wins the game.
25  Eternal Formats / Creative / Help with GAT on: April 23, 2004, 09:56:43 am
Stifle is really only a card that you want to have one of in your sideboard with Growing Tog, as a wish target.

The deck does not want nor need to play control when it can just Grow or Tog, and Stifle is really just a control card most of the time.  Sometimes, it is the play-to-not-lose card, so it warrants one spot in the board.
26  Eternal Formats / Creative / 2 Tog questions on: April 23, 2004, 09:54:54 am
Having a playset of Mana Drains is essential to play Psychatog.  You just have to have the extra mana to set up the Intuition/AK goodness.

Besides, 4 cards > 1 card

If you're going to have a mono-U deck, you should probably have Back to Basics in the sideboard.

29  Eternal Formats / Creative / A Plague Upon Welders on: April 18, 2004, 08:04:28 pm
Not only is the Plague good against those aforementioned decks, but the Plague is amazing against scrubby decks.

Sleeves are for pansies.  I play sleeveless, and always will.  I do play power without sleeves.  And I am going to blackborder out my duals, and I still won't play sleeves.
