I like the changes to the daily events overall. I do think we need something in between daily events and 2 mans though. Like Andy said, some place to play fun decks or for people to play and get better. Does anyone know why they don't run 4 man ques instead of 8 man's for vintage? 2 man ques fire off pretty often and I think getting to 4 people would be pretty easy.
Pushing the play point issues is going to undermine anything else your discussing. If they wanted to payout in tradeable tix, they would have just used the existing ones. Focus on what you can actually change, and worry about the other stuff later.
All that being said, thank you for putting the time in and writing this. I think the idea that WOTC doesnt care about vintage and vintage online has always been incorrect and stuff like this is payed attention to. I also think they care a lot more about MTGO vintage than paper. Its a section of the player base they don't currently have that will generate more mtgo $ for them. Its win-win for them to make it popular online.

Simple version: 1) Packs were being given out at a fast rate than they were being drafted so they were being very devalued. 2) You can't give tickets as prizes cause of gambling issues. 3) They made a new ticket type to get around this issue.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like the people most upset by the daily changes are the ones who played them and pretty much nothing else. AKA people who want to play for free or actually view MTGO as a way to make money.

This is good news in that we should be able to fire every DE with an 8 player minimum. This is a major downgrade though as we can't play 4 rounds of Vintage. I still think the prizes are poor substitute. These guys just have no idea what they are doing. Flying by the seat of their pants and instituting things without thinking them through thoroughly. I am glad they took action right away on this, but this is your answer?
I'm actually far more likely to pay attention to launch times and play in a 3 round event. 4 rounds with a lot of them going to 50 min was just too much time for me. Also, the changes to the 2 player ques should make them a lot more appealing. There was a while cause of pack prices that winning didn't even get your your entry free back. I do wish the payout was 35-0 instead of 30-5, but its a pretty minimal difference. I'm quite happy with these changes. The daily events were totally lopsided with the rest of MTGOs payouts and I never understood why they ran them in the first place. A lot of people were just playing dailies and nothing else, which is pretty bad for the MTGO economy and for wizards trying to make money on their product. Really the events were just subsidizing a section of the player base to get to play for free while limited players payed for it.

Have you ever had your opponent play a library on the play and you go land mox ice it on their upkeep? - Nope, this deck runs 2 moxes and most decks don't play library.
Have you ever killed two x/1s with fire/ice? - Yes, I have blow out a bad player with a card they didn't know was in the deck I was playing. This will not happen in a top 8 against anyone good.
Have you ever killed an x/1 and dealt one to them, so they couldn’t misdirect it? - No, what decks run Mis-D and creatures?
Have you ever killed a jace after attacking it with a factory? - Yes, Fire Ice is better in this situation
Ice an early tinker>blightsteel so you get another turn to land jace or draw a bounce spell. - You dig 2 cards deeper with charm to find the jace or bounce spell. Also, like you said, you can counter the spell. The only situation where this is better is if jace is the 2nd card on top ofyour deck and you have no mana up with they tinker.

I'm pretty sure that kid was just trolling the thread. I'm very interested to see how this card functions in the deck. I've been playing the EE version of the deck at the cambridge local event for the past few months and had a lot of success with it. My list is very meta tuned to the insane amout of contorl that was showing up when the event first started, but I feel like this card would fit in great. Fire / Ice had been pretty weak for me all around, and I had been considering cutting it for either Bolts or Lava Dart. This card pretty much fixes all the complaints I had about fire / ice and should be at least a 2x in my build.

I dont think standstill wants a weak counterspell, burn spell that cant hit players, and a bad draw spell even if it is all rolled into one card.
Hmm, ok I could buy that. Do you think it wants a fine counterspell, bun spell that functions almost the same as a card the deck has 2x of MD and a fine draw spell rolled into one?
