Guilty as charged, nataz, I do have the syndrome, and won't deny it. I give my perspective as an outsider, because that's pretty much what I am, and it's bound to be skewed somewhat. However, what I said is that I sense less cohesion now, and coupling that with what I read, I came up with a theory for it.
We all wanted things to change, to grow, and they did. I'm not complaining, it wouldn't be right because I am no longer even part of the t1 community, I just pointed out the way I think things changed. I do hold on to memories of the past, but that's no reason to trash an oppinion, I think.

I still fling e-mails with Cid (dont be jealous OftenLost, I saved some sugar for you baby, you know), I live in fucking Mexico and actually consider him a true, dear friend. I'll tell him to take a look around.
Anyway, I've been playing long enough to consider Mercadian Masques to be a new block, in all seriousness, and, fuck it, STEPHEN MENEDIAN, YOU DID WRITE THAT ESSAY, I totally remember reading it on BD. Sometimes you were considered a bit of a troll, and it took you years to earn the position you hold now. I completely respect you, and I did enjoy talking to you on IRC back then, but shit, you were annoying sometimes.
Also, you went apeshit everytime we would call you semen man, which derived from the tune Cid would sing whenever you logged on IRC:
Semen man, semen man does whatever a semen can
Etc, I dont remember the rest, but it obviously comes from the old spider-man cartoon from like the 60's.
I also remember that old "war" with the ignorant bastards from Phyrexia.com... Their section on the story of the game was pretty good actually, but their community was the worse.
I remember AxeMurdr logging on #BDchat totally wasted drunk, and saying something about his "huefr". This totally stuck.
I remember bugging spin13 everytime he logged on with the same old "see spin spin, see eric spin, see eric eric" thing.
I remember the huge flame wars regarding the "elitism" thing. As I said a while ago in other topic, Darren would go mad because he said elitism wasn't the correct term to discuss the issue.
I remember trying to get on the Beyond Dominia boards and seeing a white screen, and this time it didn't go away, Beyond Dominia was gone for good. This was _very_ sad.
I remember rakso "1984ing" a lot, which led to another series of flame wars.
I remember the TOCs. I remember I organized one, probably one of the 2 last ones, and thats where both GroAtog and Hulk first appeared. Everyone was shocked to see two Tog decks in the tournament. This also seems very, very recent.
I remember a lot of things, it was so awesome, I have mixed feelings, heh.

Well, if that's what will make you happy, congratulations Sylv. I, however, also agree that you should find answers to the subjacent questions that bring you to this point. At some point in your new career you'll have to face a similar choice again, and it would help you to make the best out of it.
On a completely unrelated topic, do you remember citing some syndrome as "baby autism", and probably the source of geekness in some post? I'm pretty sure it started with E, but I just can't remember it's name.

This whole thing with team forums impacts in more than one way, I'm sure. I retired years ago, but the reason why I was so into BD, and afterwards TMD (and respectively #BDchat and #Themantrain, which were huge parts of the experience) was the community, that's the reason why I still hang around even though I have no idea what the fuck is going on nowadays on vintage.
As time goes by, most of the awesome people have been going away, in some way or another, and this is still a cool place to hang around and see what's up, but I remember back in 2001/2002 I could just sit on the computer having fun with everyone. Today, not even Bram or Rudy spam as much as they used to, JP's appearances are scarce, and so on.
Anyway, my point is that the community has been fragmenting itself, first it was mostly regarding the game, but it HAS gotten weaker, progressively, and as the community loses cohesion, players lose motivation to stop around, which makes this whole thing even weaker, and we have this vicious circle that brings us to this. We created forums and message groups to discuss strategy away from TMD, and then we found we drew much more than just strategy from it, and now ironically we find that we drew much more strategy away from TMD than we initially thought.
Thinking as a marketer though, to make it through in a competitive environment, TMD should have a hook. If the discussion of strategy is weak (I don't know, but it's what I gather from the other posts), and the community aspect isn't as strong, then we don't have anything, and we should find a way out of this.
Anyway, to end this nonsensical fling of randomness of a post, the elitism thing DOES go back to the earliest days, Darren would go NUTS about it, precisely because elitism wasn't the correct term to discuss it, and nobody would seem to listen to him, which I always found entertaining, really. Damn I miss all that.

Well, if it was some kind of bar fight, that just comes out of nowhere, then Vader would kick ass in no time. However, its important to note that when MegaMan is on a mission, he doesnt just go straight to the final enemy, he can take an indefinite (perhaps infinite since it never makes a difference) ammount of time getting power ups, new weapons, armors, shoryuken, hadouken, he can even get a light saber from the character "zero", so he would probably spend a couple of years chumping random jedis to learn the force, and collecting armor pieces and random nonsense, and when he felt up to it, THEN we would have a fight.

The fuck with it, I'm on. And it's not because I like his art, because I'm not fond of it and I don't even play anymore, but because of the reason why they are firing him, supposedly the new art director, Cranford, said his style was too much classic fantasy, and they were looking for more edgy, obscure things, more matrix meets MtG, and stuff like that.
I don't play anymore, but I do still care about the game, and the direction they are taking with it's art is scary and shitty. No fucking way.

This is a theory on attraction, not on actual love, this should be fairly obvious, as it is that with most women, when they say what they look for in a guy, it actually is what they will seek when they are near 30 and want to settle down before its too late.
And, as sad as it may be for you, there is a need of some sort of balance for a relationship to work, otherwise the lower part has to strain he(r)self in order to make things more leveled, and the upper part at some points starts to wonder about if its really worth it, or has a lot of disbalancing power in the relationship, etc, which leads to unhappiness.
Like, usually the happier couples are made of people that are mostly balanced, similar lifestyles, similar look rating, similar economic power and background, and all that. If balance is noticeable broken somewhere, it must be attained by compensating it with something else, like, if the guy's ugly, but he's rich, he's able to date much better woman than otherwise. He might be a charming person, but he's really ugly he would have a REALLY, REALLY hard shot at actually getting somebody as good as he would get if he also was rich.
And, as advise, women need to be satisfied both mentally and, to a certain point much lower than a man's point, phisically, I think even the ladder theory says something to this effect. The point is, if you actually want to have a serious relationship, make sure you satisfy her in both ways (obviously, to the extent that she wants or needs to, it will often not mean sex, or actually staying the hell away from it), this is because if you don't succeed in both accounts, she will find a way to restore balance, and this often means having another guy for this tasks. Shitty, eh? But that's how it very often goes, I've seen some really (otherwise) cute and caring woman having a sideshow because of this. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I'm not really a PC Gamer myself, but as I have read some stuff since Im going to buy a new PC soon, I'd advise you to stay the fuck away from Intel, if you want to actually do gaming, go AMD all the way. Intel only offers higher clock speed, but the real performance is in AMD, specially when talking about games.

You can say that you like something, but it doesn't make it good.
And lets not start with subjectivity and whatnot, because I don't want to start some philosophical debate, you can set criteria on what makes a movie good, you could take about the acting, the story and whatnot, and in most people's opinion this movie fails to deliver awfully.
Now, if you like it, that's cool, many of us get laughs out of movies like the one where Jesus slays vampires and shit, but one reckons that the movie just isn't good, and I think that, even when I try to be objective, Peal Harbor sucks, and so does Armageddon.
Then again, so do most big budget flicks lately, at least the epics. Troy, King Arthur and Alexander hurt brains bad.

I'll have to do some downloading...
Anyway, off the top of my head, 3 different songs from 3 different bands with very different styles.
The Sins of Thy Beloved - Forever. I'd rather let Darren comment on this.
Nada Surf - Slow Down. Indie/Alternative stuff. I usually preffer listening to Reggie and the Full Effect, but I've been finding myself listening to this more and more.
Austin TV - Les choses sont bizarre. This is actually a mexican band. A mexican indie/instrumental/experimental rock band. I find them quite awesome.

I am studying Marketing right now, planning on getting my masters degree on the US as soon as I'm done with college.
I actually could be happy working at so many things, but marketing is really fascinanting to me, trying to understand and predict how this huge masses of people will act, to see all this people, all infinitely complex on their own, being overwhelmed by surroundings much more broad than they know, reacting to it without even noticing, and taking decisions, moving, thinking, buying, one by one creating huge ammounts of people, creating markets on their own, and looking at this markets mix themselves, in countries, in the world, in infinite set of people creating an infinite set of markets, all of them comprehensible at some point, but their very core, at every one of us, uncertain, predictable but never completely so. I don't even think I can express what I am actually thinking on all of this, or how this fascinates me.
And that just being a part of it, dealing with so many things, really... Looking at the human being as a social being, societies being the product of this, to study the markets is to a certain point studying the inherent desires and motivation within men and how this developes when grouped.
Besides, I find intellectual work way more satisfying, and even though I sometimes get stuck creatively when I have to do some advertising, its even more satisfying when you overcome this sort of stuff and you can look proudly at what you've done.
