1  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: Type 2 Monowhite Control on: October 19, 2009, 01:27:02 pm
Elspeth, Knight Errant
Ethersworn Canonist
Harm's Way
Knight-Captain of Eos
Path to Exile
Silence
Wall of Reverence

These are some other (potentially) great cards for a mono-white-control build. Elspeth seems like an auto-include to me, as well as Path to Exile. Silence and Ethersworn Canonist would be sideboard options against Cascade Jund. Wall of Revrence might not be that strong now that Plumeveil is gone, but you still might give it a try. Knight-Captain of Eos seems awesome to me, as it buys you two turns to find solutions or to ramp up to Iona.

Creatures:
3 Elvish Spirit Guide
4 Simian Spirit Guide

4 Manamorphose

Sorceries:
1 Channel
1 Demonic Tutor
2 Empty the Warrens
4 Land Grant
1 Tendrils of Agony
1 Timetwister
1 Tinker
1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Wheel of Fortune

Enchantments:
1 Yawgmoth's Bargain (over Necropotence to support the FTK)

Artifacts:
1 Black Lotus
1 Chromatic Sphere
1 Chrome Mox
4 Goblin Charbelcher
1 Grim Monolith
1 Lion's Eye Diamond
1 Lotus Petal
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mana Vault
1 Memory Jar
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Sol Ring

Lands:
1 Bayou
1 Taiga

Sideboard:
4 Duress (to protect my combo and disrupt theirs)
3 Guttural Response/Red Elemental Blast(against Painter and/or blue-heavy decks)
3 Ingot Chewer(against Stax)
4 Leyline of the Void(against Welder strategies and Ichorid)
1 Massacre(against Fish)

The startegy should be obvious: Mana-Accelerate and play Draw-7s until you can either win through Tendrils, ETW or Belcher. The main deck is very much focused on killing first turn,  protection/disruption is in the sideboard atm.
Any criticism wold be greatly appreciated Smile

Hello fellow MtG addicts, my name is Moritz and I am a 17yo pupil from Germany. I started playing Magic when Mirrodin and the new card design were introduced. I have only attended one constructed event so far; I mostly play prerelease events. I started playing Vinatage recently (because I like those pesky combodecks) which is kind of a problem because there aren't any other Vintage players in my region so I have to play against Legacy decks Sad.

Edge of the Ocean
Legendary Land
 {Tap}: Add  {U} to your mana pool. Spend this mana only to play blue instant spells
 {2} {U} {U}{Tap}, sacrifice Edge of the Ocean: Counter target spell

The reason why I made this card:
Blue is the color dedicated to counterspells, so why shouldn't there be more blue counterpermanents like Declaration of Naught. So the thing I came up with was a land that could counter spells; it would fit the flavour as you can assume that some wise blue wizard infused the ground his stronghold was build on with blue mana so he'd have one last line of defense.
To make sure this card is tied to Blue I added the drawback of the mana ability.
So, what do you think.
P.S. I apologize if my English is not the best for I am a not a native speaker.

Well, that was quick. Thanks for the friendly welcome.  Very Happy

@Blitzbold: Added the 4 "missing cards"  Embarassed

I'll try and test Gifts/Intuition/FoF/more TfK to increase the chances of drawing a Painter's Servant.

@zeus-online: Should i run 1 Seat of the Synod even if I up the number of TfKs? If I'd cut 2 Dreadnoughts and 1 Trickbind should I go Blue-Red and add Elemental Blasts and maybe even Welders or should I go monoblue and add Drains? I kind of like not having to play a lot of nonbasics but adding red would allow 1cc Vindicates and Welder shenanigans.

Thanks for your helpful feedback

EDIT: Made some changes (still monoblue).
6  Eternal Formats / Creative / [Deck] Artificer's Intuition on: August 30, 2008, 02:09:41 pm
First of all I would like to say that I've started playing Vintage a month ago so I would greatly appreciate any serious feedback/criticism.
About the deck: Ever since I first saw Artificer's Intuition I was wondering how to fully exploit it. Survival of the Fittest is a pretty solid card in Legacy, why should its blue counterpart be any weaker? So I decided to combine two elements which would greatly fit the theme: StifleNought and the Painter's Grindstone Combo.

Creatures(9):
1 Darksteel Colossus
3 Goblin Welder
4 Painter's Servant
1 Platinum Angel

Instants(16):
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Brainstorm
4 Force of Will
1 Gifts Ungiven
1 Misdirection
2 Pyroblast
2 Red Elemental Blast
4 Thirst for Knowledge

Sorceries(3):
1 Merchant Scroll
1 Time Walk
1 Tinker

Enchantments(4):
4 Artificer's Intuition

Artifacts(14):
1 Black Lotus
1 Engineered Explosives
1 Grindstone
1 Lotus Petal
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Pithing Needle
1 Sensei's Divining Top
1 Sol Ring
1 Tormod's Crypt

Lands(14):
1 Academy Ruins
1 Cephalid Coliseum
2 Flooded Strand
4 Island
2 Polluted Delta
1 Seat of the Synod
1 Tolarian Academy
3 Volcanic island
