We don't do the "cool prize drawing" for the weekend events.  The reason registration was "out of stock" is the reason you've surmised - if the tournament entry is variable then it's not practical to have players pre-register.

Our next Vintage tournament will be on Sunday, September 11 at Noon, and we'll be giving away a Mox again, so mark your calendars!  Sorry I missed Sunday's event - I was hanging out in a hospital waiting room

Hey guys,
Just wanted to make sure you know about the new way we're doing Vintage.  I've gone back to guaranteeing a Mox!  This month we're giving away an Emerald.  We value it at $350, so the entry fee will be 350 divided by the number of players.  If we get to 14 players, that puts us at our usual $25 entry fee.  We'll stop changing the entry fee at that point, and any entries past that will add more store credit (or dual lands or whatever) to the prize pool.

Also, I realize running straight 3 rounds for 8 players last time was a mistake and I should have run a top 4.  It won't happen like that again.

We're playing Vintage THIS SUNDAY for that Emerald, so please come play - I love watching you guys battle.  The more friends you bring, the less you'll have to pay.

Also for dual lands.  I will post prizes in this thread as soon as I know what I'll be giving away.  If more people start showing up I might be able to start giving you folks Moxes again.

I'm sorry, I don't understand.  Vintage is dead because I gave out $300 in prizes, equal to all the entry fees taken in?  Or, Vintage is dead because only 12 players showed up?  That's some kind of weird reverse causality, I think.  Or even more confusing, because four players who are friendly and know each other well chose to split? 

So, we had 12 for Vintage today (5/22) here at Superstars in San Jose, CA.  I had guaranteed two Tropical Islands to first (a $200 value, they were SP) and since twelve people showed up, I put up an HP Sea for 2nd (a $100 value.)

Superstars Game Center Monthly Mox Tournament!
Format: Vintage (10 Proxies Allowed, Unsanctioned)
Start Time: 1:00 PM

Structure: Swiss based on attendance, cutting to top 4 or top 8.  
1st Place: Unlimited Mox Emerald
Other prizes are based on attendance.  The tournament will launch as long as at least eight players sign up.

CAN I TRADE?[/B]
Of course you can trade with each other! You can't, however, buy or sell cards with anyone but Superstars Game Center, or solicit others to do so elsewhere while on our premises. Disobeying this rule may result in any parties involved being removed from the event without refund and/or being banned from the venue and/or future events.

While trading is most certainly allowed - it's a trading card game, after all! - Superstars Game Center reserves the right to limit the amount of space occupied by any person or persons while trading. Suitcases, handcarts, and the like may not be used to transport excessive amounts of items for trade.

Hey, I'm Eric, a judge/store employee/teacher/crazy guy who works at Superstars in San Jose.  We organize weekly Vintage tournaments, and I figured that since people are already talking about said tournaments on the forums, it would be good to participate a bit.  I enjoy playing vintage as well as judging it, and I've been lurking for a while as an unregistered user, so why not join?
