1  Vintage Community Discussion / Type 4 / Re: Type 4 Playable Custom Planeswalkers on: July 15, 2009, 02:39:32 am
Hi guys, I just wanted to report on how these walkers have been playing out after many months. Some stuff has changed so for reference, here are their current versions and comments on how they are in type 4.

Aeris Gainsborough WWWWWW
Planeswalker - Aeris
+1: Until your next turn, creatures can't attack you or planeswalkers you control.
+1: Until the end of your next turn, you and planeswalkers you control can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control.
-9: For the rest of the game, you can't lose the game as long as you control a permanent.
Starting Loyalty 6

Aeris has been great, as expected. She is probably one of the weaker planeswalkers but still good enough for my high powered stack. No changes.

Thalia Gemnas UUUUUU
Planeswalker - Thalia
+1: Until your next turn, you may play nonland cards as though they had flash.
-1: Put a 0/1 blue Illusion creature token onto the battlefield. It has "Sacrifice this creature: Counter target spell."
-6: For the rest of the game, whenever a player casts an instant or sorcery, you may copy that spell. You may choose new targets for the copy.
Starting Loyalty 4

Thalia has similarly been ridiculous and awesome. No changes.

Harle, Lunatic Jester 4RRR
Planeswalker - Harle
+1: Flip a coin. If you win the flip, take an extra turn after this one.
-3: Flip a coin. If you win the flip, Harle, Lunatic Jester deals 10 damage to target creature or player.
-6: For each permanent you don’t control, flip a coin. If you win the flip, gain control of that permanent. If you lose the flip, destroy it.
Starting Loyalty 6

This is her current version. Staying in flavor with red, she can use her ultimate right away but unlike many of the others, it is not an ability that changes the way the rules work for you for the rest of the game. Usually on a clogged board she is a super Plague Boiler, but when the board is empty you get to have some fun by trying to take extra turns or randomly Searing Winding people. A lot of fun, and while her first two abilities are quite weak, their fun factor and the ability to blow the ultimate right away makes her great. No changes.

Feena Neveleska 5GGG
Planeswalker - Feena
+1: Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a creature card.  Put that card into play and put the other cards revealed this way into your graveyard.
-1: Return target card from your graveyard to your hand.
-8: For the rest of the game, creatures you control are indestructible and can’t be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control.
Starting Loyalty 7

Awesome as expected. No changes.

Lucrezia the Plunderer 7BBB
Planeswalker - Lucrezia
+2: Each opponent chooses a card from his or her hand and exiles that card.
-1: You may play a card exiled by Lucrezia the Plunderer without paying its mana cost.
-12: Choose any number of cards among cards in all graveyards. Until end of turn, you may play those cards without paying their mana costs.
Starting Loyalty 8

I am placing this one last since it is easily the weakest of the five. Usually she just gets to +2 then somebody blows her up. She is fine as is, but I wanted to make her a little stronger. What do you guys think of this version:

Lucrezia the Plunderer 7BBB
Planeswalker - Lucrezia
+1: Each opponent discards two cards.
-2: Play target card in a graveyard without paying its mana cost. If that card would be put into a graveyard this turn, exile it instead.
-7: Each opponent loses life equal to the number of cards in his or her graveyard. You gain life equal to the life lost this way.
Starting Loyalty 5

Is this too powerful?

Hi all! First post on TMD and I've been very frustrated with the lack of playable walkers in T4. So, I've decided to take matters into my own hands and print my own walkers, but I was wondering if you could guys look over my list. I wanted to make one walker for each color, and I had a specific goal for each one. Without further ado, here goes:

White walker-
My goal for this walker was to create a defensive walker that protects itself and you. I gave her an ultimate that takes a while to charge because she's so good at protecting herself.

Aeris Gainsborough WWWWWW
Planeswalker - Aeris
+1: Until your next turn, creatures can't attack you or planeswalkers you control.
+1: Until the end of your next turn, you and planeswalkers you control can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control.
-10: For the rest of the game, you can't lose the game as long as you control a permanent.
Starting Loyalty 6

Blue walker-
I wanted to make one that was just borked and funny. Low loyalty because of how borked she is.

Thalia Gemnas UUUUUU
Planeswalker - Thalia
+1: Until your next turn, you may play nonland cards as though they had flash.
-1: Put a 0/1 blue Illusion creature token into play. It has "Sacrifice this creature: Counter target spell."
-6: For the rest of the game, whenever a player plays an instant or sorcery, you may copy that spell. You may choose new targets for the copy.
Starting Loyalty 4

Black walker -
I was looking for a black walker to abuse the "alt CC" rule. For the ultimate, I would have used Yawg Will's RFG wording but it took up too much space on the text box. In addition this templating makes it so that each card can only get played once and that Lucrezia can't play herself out of the graveyard if she blows up after using her ultimate.

Lucrezia the Plunderer 7BBB
Planeswalker - Lucrezia
+2: Each opponent removes a card in his or her hand from the game.
-1: You may play a card removed from the game with Lucrezia the Plunderer without paying its mana cost.
-12: Choose any number of cards among cards in all graveyards. Until end of turn, you may play those cards without paying their mana costs.
Starting Loyalty 8

Red walker-
I wanted something fun that worked around randomness. I decided that choosing targets at random was a headache, but that coinflips was easy. It's very hard to make a powerful card based around coinflips but I think Harle is interesting and powerful enough for T4. I realize her second ability is slightly blue but I'm fine with slight color bleed because of the coinflipping aspect. Note that she is the only walker who can fire off her ultimate right away for a funny pseudo--maybe-obliterate.

Harle, Lunatic Jester 4RRR
Planeswalker - Harle
+2: Until the end of your next turn, if you would flip a coin, instead flip two coins and ignore one.
-4: Flip a coin. If you win the flip, take an extra turn after this one.
-6: For each other permanent in play, flip a coin. If you win a flip, remove that permanent from the game.
Starting Loyalty 6

Green walker -
Green walkers are hard to design because they have such crappy abilities in terms of t4. Make mana? Make tokens? Anyway my goal for this one was to make creatures better in t4. Note that she only needs to charge once to fire off her ultimate.

Anyway what do you guys think? I want to add this to the stack for a big t4 draft this friday but I need your feedback first. Are they good enough? too good? Let me know how you would change them and why.
