1  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Choosing the right card protectors...how? on: March 18, 2004, 02:23:08 am
I haven't had much trouble with the different types/brands of sleeves that I've used, but there's 2 types that I would avoid when shopping for sleeves:

Ultra Pro metallic sleeves.  The metallic look on the back wears out after awhile leaving you with marked sleeves that you can't use.

Max Protection Neo (foil) sleeves.  These are the worst sleeves I have ever encountered.  While they look cooler than any other sleeves, they are complete crap.  I bought 2 packs (of 50) yesterday to try them out and within 15 mins of sleeving up my deck and shuffling lightly, the bottom corners and sides started to split and/or get stuck to each other.  It's not a very good sign when you have corners of cards going in between the foiling and the sleeve itself.  So avoid these at all costs.
2  Eternal Formats / Creative / Why did you choose to play Type 1? on: March 08, 2004, 06:50:55 am
I started playing cause I have a couple friends that play it.  I started getting into it more recently due to the price increase for new sets and Standard was getting stale for me once again.  Plus I realized T1 is alot cheaper than Standard in the long run, so I eventually plan on leaving the Standard scene.
3  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Proxy Discussion on: February 10, 2004, 07:33:41 am
Personally, I like the idea of allowing proxies if it means the format will gain more players.  At first, I thought the 5/10 limits were good, but Zherbus brought up a good idea in that only pre-legends cards could be proxied.  That way players would have actually get some of the staples like FoW rather than just proxying them.

The only thing I don't like about the pre-Legends proxy idea is that some would probably proxy cards like Sinkhole which aren't expensive imo.  Maybe another possible idea would be to allow proxies of cards that are priced over a certain limit ($60 for example).  Just a thought.
