1  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Tolarian Academy for Current Type 1 on: January 15, 2009, 01:56:24 am
I'm not going to get into the middle of this argument but I would like to comment on one point by bluemage55 that I see a lot from people. ...."nor does it mean that it belongs in the Open discussion forum." I'm not sure why people feel compelled to judge whether or not any deck list is allowed to be discussed. If you don't like someone's ideas, then just don't reply. There are plenty of articles on hear to read and comment on if you don't like one deck list.

With Time Spiral unrestricted, I could actually see an Academy deck making a comeback. Here's a proposed decklist:

3 Voltaic Key
1 Mana Vault
1 Black Lotus
1 Sol Ring
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Emerald
1 Lotus Petal
4 Time Spiral
4 Sroke of Genious
1 Windfall
3 Mind over Matter
3 Intuition
4 Force of Will
4 Abeyance or Orim's chant
1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Crop Rotation
1 Regrowth
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Merchant Scroll
1 Demonic Tutor
2 Lim Dul's Vault
2 Scroll Rack
1 Tolarian Academy
2 Tolaria West
4 Underground Sea
4 Tundra
4 Volcanic Island

SB: 3 Duress or Toughtseize
     2 Rack and Ruin
     3 Misdirection
     3 Crucible of Worlds
     3 REB
     1 Rebuild

3  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / WotC should webcast Vintage Pro Tours. on: December 17, 2008, 04:21:19 am
I'm sure this has been brought up before but since I'm new to the board I will state my case that Wizards should put some Vintage tournaments on web casts like they do the Pro Tours. I'm not asking them to replace any of the Pro Tours with a Vintage one because I realize the difficulty of turnout. Most people don't have the power nine, in fact I don't. But I believe that the people who have dedicated a lot of time (and money of course) to this format deserve a chance to get some of the money back that they've spent on a lot of these cards in a meaningful tournament. Plus it would be cool to say the games premier cards on display and being played at a high level. Let me know your guys thoughts on this.

There's a lot of cards listed here I agree with so I will try to add some others I've always liked and apologize if I have duplications.

Survival of the Fittest / Recurring Nightmare -I've always loved this combo and would love to see another build if viable in vintage.

Mind Over Matter -Since Time Spiral, Mox Diamond were recently unrestricted, I could really see a viable academy deck resurfacing with Tolarian Academy easy to get out with the likes of tolaria West, Crop Rotation, and all of those tutors around. You can use 4 strokes or brain geyser, Voltaic Key, plus all of the fast artifact mana, Scroll Rack, force, yawgmoth's will, one windfall, intuition. The only worry I'd have is wasteland on Academy but hey there's always crucible of worlds.

Pros/Bloom -Another old deck, This deck is way too slow for type 1 but it might work in Legacy which I know defeats the purpose, but maybe someone could make this deck work again.
