Thanks for the lists! Do you by chance have the decklists for:

 Doom-Engine Red-Shops
 UR Hate Bears
 U/R The Answer
2  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Blazing Infect on: September 03, 2014, 12:08:41 am
Not playing explosively fragile decks in Vintage... so I probably don't super understand.

But would running Force of will with Progenitus/Scarecrow King be a decent option?
3  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: - New Slivers on: July 24, 2014, 02:00:06 pm
Seems like leaving out Demonic Consultation, Ancestral Recall, and Time Walk is an oversight? Maybe some of that Black Lotus action too?

He was posting his modern decklist in response to the prior comment.
4  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: - New Slivers on: July 14, 2014, 12:46:27 am
I'm currently working on a slivers list, but the bottom line is that slivers can't hack it in Vintage.  The list is pretty decent in Modern, but that's it.  Wastelands make a rainbow base unreliable, disruption inclusion comes at the cost of sliver density, and maxing out on slivers comes at the cost of your opponent blowing you out quickly.  Also wastelands cost you mana spots which are needed for slivers of multiple colors.  Even vs shops running 4 main harmonics...you need 4+ mana at sourcery speed facing wastelands while you run no basics...you can't win that match.

What's the modern list you're testing and what have you tested against?
5  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Ensoul Artifact on: July 03, 2014, 01:33:32 pm
I don't see this getting play in Vintage. Perhaps modern and most likely standard to some extent, but the potential to lose more than you gain is pretty big here. I think the card is just fine, but I find it difficult to think of shells that I would rather play this card OVER another one.
6  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Magic Online Vintage Dailies Results on: June 28, 2014, 02:56:20 pm
Shockwave has been playing it.  Look at the results links.

I hadn't noticed his lists, thanks for re-directing me.

His lists are quite different from what I think I would run. Interesting choice. I assume that with how much MUD there is in MODO that quite a few people are having to build decks quite different though (based on what I've heard).
7  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Magic Online Vintage Dailies Results on: June 28, 2014, 12:08:18 pm
I don't expect to see Landstill much in the MTGO meta, but it sure would be fun to see some peeps rock it. Has anyone played against it yet for those that have MTGO?
8  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Aggressive Mining on: June 25, 2014, 10:26:53 pm
I'm still interested in a decklist you feel would be viable with running it.
9  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: N.Y.S.E. Open II - Official Tournament Report on: June 25, 2014, 10:25:30 pm
Looks like a handful of Dredge decks were the only 'unpowered' lists. Thanks (:

I don't see why anyone would play an unpowered deck in a 15 proxy event unless you're playing Dredge.

It's quite often a separate prize pool - top rated unpowered deck (often including Workshop and Bazaar as "powered" cards in the mini-competition) gets $100 store credit or something like that. It's just a fun little thing some things do, that's all. I wasn't suggesting it was ideal to do.
10  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Sliver Hive on: June 25, 2014, 04:02:39 pm
Are you guys all forgetting Crystalline Sliver?  Show me a merfolk, human, or well, any "lord" other than Eladamri that gives a creature type shroud.

Kira, Great Glass-Spinner gets fairly close... but I think the point is that they don't NEED Crystalline. While it is a powerful creature, it doesn't impact the board state beyond protection when it comes down. Your creatures are still babies and are easily swept away with the lack of counter magic the deck is able to consistently run and use comparably.
11  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: N.Y.S.E. Open II - Official Tournament Report on: June 25, 2014, 03:22:13 pm
It's always fun to see at larger events what the top ranking unpowered list is and where it placed. For this type of event I'm not sure how many unpowered lists you would have, but do you by chance have this information?

I don't know if there were any, as I left checking the lists up to the judges and scorekeeper, but the full 92 lists are on EC.  The standings after round seven should also be listed as well.  I know it's a bit of work, but if you're interested, you're able to determine who the highest standing un-powered player was.

Looks like a handful of Dredge decks were the only 'unpowered' lists. Thanks (:
12  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Aggressive Mining on: June 25, 2014, 01:52:55 pm
Lower CMC =/= MUST cast early. It means it pulls on your resources even less.

Having said that... I think that the situations where it is useful are less than when it is a burden. How often would you have won had you started with Tarmogoyf in your first hand rather than this card? You know? I just feel like it's... difficult to make useful and be happy to see it. You'd have to run more than one without being able to utilize more than one. Anything beyond the first would be dead weight. Being in your starting hand isn't always ideal. What is the amount you run so that you see it when you want to see it, but don't get dumped on by drawing blank cards when you need to draw gas or your opponent wipes your board so you end up saccing your lands and not having the required mana for what you just drew? It just feels very clunky and forced in any shell I try to thought-experiment it into.
13  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Aggressive Mining on: June 25, 2014, 12:21:25 pm
I actually think this card is playable in vintage.  Blue is not the only deck in the world.  It is kind of like a late-game necropotence actually.  Many times a deck can run out its hand and topdeck unneeded lands.  If you have 5+ lands (usually with moxen and stuff too) and no cards in hand, topdecking this can break the game in your favor.  You still draw your normal cards and for sacing 3+ unneeded lands in a later game, this card is basically 4 mana; draw 6+.  You can't play further drawn lands, but if you have 5 business spells in the next 8 cards drawn off this, you should be pretty well set.  It's not broken.  it's not a combo enabler.  It's not what blue wants.  But an aggro deck with RG for example would be just fine blasting unwanted lands after it is spent to draw 8 cards and use nobles, moxen, SSGs, etc to drop 1 and 2cc critter swarms again.

I would be very intrigued to see a shell that would want to play this card. If it cost less than 4(?!?!) CMC to play... I can see what you're saying. But aggro decks tend to only ramp so fast and need a strong early game. I can't see someone wanting to have this card played late game (since they would want their opponent to be dead) or play it early with ramp since they would want to be playing their business spells. It just feels a bit stretched. It feels to hard to make it 'work'. I don't feel like decklists that are forced typically have great synergy.

15  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Sliver Hive on: June 24, 2014, 10:07:41 pm
In an eternal format? Pffft.

They're still rainbow Merfolk in my eyes and because of that fact will always lag behind them as an aggro deck. In standard... I guess we'll see what is spoiled from this point on.
16  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Aggressive Mining on: June 23, 2014, 12:42:15 pm
If you could still play lands OR you could sac any amount of lands each turn i think this card could warrant playtesting... Unfortunately with its current setup I can't really set it as a viable card for eternal formats.
17  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Soul of New Phyrexia on: June 23, 2014, 12:34:09 pm
I think casual 12-Post is the only place this guy will see play.
18  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: "The Unbroken" U/R Landstill: The Primer on: June 16, 2014, 02:25:47 pm
That completely depends on the decklist that you have. Some decks gear more towards aggro matchups and others not as much. What are you currently looking at decklist wise? (:
19  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Best Ways to Beat Weenie Decks for GB? on: June 10, 2014, 02:17:34 pm
I'd never thought of referring to Merfolk as a 'weenie' deck.
20  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: best ways to beat weenie decks for GB? on: June 10, 2014, 01:20:34 pm
A little surprised that Golgari Charm hasn't been suggested yet. Perhaps more Legacy playable than vintage, but it has some solid uses in this format I would say as well.
21  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Your Favorite Magic Card & Why (list no more than 3) on: June 10, 2014, 09:56:39 am
You two talking about Counterspell reminds me of when I first started playing I would try to counter non-basic lands (since I knew basic lands weren't spell, but non-basics were just too powerful to not be a spell!) Also trying to Counter the creature put into play with Show N' Tell instead of Show N' Tell itself because... I wanted free creatures but you shouldn't have them!  Wink
22  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: You Know You've Been Playing Too Much Vintage When... on: June 07, 2014, 10:57:17 pm
When you're playing 1v1 Uno and you "combo out" against your wife and empty your hand in one go.
23  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: White Trash! on: June 04, 2014, 10:35:27 am
Isn't getting to two mana the goal of the deck? And by getting to two mana, I mean one white and one other. I don't think the sol lands would be extremely beneficial...

25  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Your Favorite Magic Card & Why (list no more than 3) on: June 02, 2014, 11:09:50 pm
Favourite three would probably be:

Force of Will, Tendrils of Agony and.... Snapcaster Mage.

Why?

FoW - Brought balance in an interesting way
ToA - Brought imbalance in an interesting way
Snapcaster Mage - Such a versatile card in a plethora of decks. Love it.
26  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Replacing Moxes with Deathrite Shaman and Noble Hierarch in Hatebears on: June 01, 2014, 01:22:51 pm
^ I'd be wary of the 6 dead cards against shops in the main there.

Yeah, I know it's not ideal. I'm still trying to get feedback from peeps in order to work out a good final decklist that has game against most decks G1. I've had some difficulty getting people to want to work with unpowered Landstill though... but I do appreciate feedback. I would agree that the REB would be the first to go if I do make switches. I actually have not played the shops matchup before so my list is entirely thought-experiment against many of the decks in Vintage (it was my first stab at a list).

I do like the above recommendations. I originally had steel sabotage in there but subbed it out when I was switching around a few cards in the maindeck. The other thing I've played with a bit is Ninja of Deep Hours, Snapcaster Mage, and Packrat.

28  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Re: Spellskite on: May 30, 2014, 09:13:01 am
Can spellskite be activated when a spell is cast if that spell has no target.  Example, can I activate spellskite when I cast a noble heirarch (or for activated ability like noble heirarch's) to bring my life down to 2 to cast Death's Shadow?

Almost, if the ability uses the stack you can, but hierarch's ability is a mana ability, so that specific example doesn't work.

He did say cast, not use the ability of the Hierarch.
"(or for activated ability like noble heirarch's)" is what I believe he was referring to.
29  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [CNS] Council's judgement on: May 27, 2014, 09:08:26 am
I can see white trash thinking about running this card in their 75... but the double white + Sorcery keeps it out of most other multi-colored decks.

Like someone else said though, I see this being run in legacy here and there though.
30  Eternal Formats / Null Rod Based Aggro / Re: A Primer on How to Train Your Blue Demons on: May 22, 2014, 12:01:35 am
Depends on the Landstill list. EE, Pack Rat and Toxic Deluge all will either put you on a defensive or kill your forces.
