1  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SOI] Sin Prodder on: March 22, 2016, 01:12:49 am
It could be useful for a Gifts list? Use cards like Accumulated Knowledge? Gush, Force, Thirst? Jace, Misdirection, Dack etc. three damage plus the threat of a 3 damage menace is not horrible. Card draw or a decent clock.
2  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SOI] Behold he Beyond on: March 19, 2016, 11:47:01 am
I'm assuming by the time you cast this you have already cast a flurry of rituals (dark or cabal with threshold) and maybe a Gitaxian probe this knowing what they have and what to grab.
3  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SOI] Behold he Beyond on: March 19, 2016, 04:22:04 am
lotus, yawg will, flusterstorm doesn't get you there after what?
4  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / soi: to the slaughter on: March 15, 2016, 03:37:52 pm

Bad versus tokens obv. but against big blue or oath taking out jace/dack/baby jace and tinkerbot/oath fatty/notion thief/consecrated sphinx doesnt seem bad.
5  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SOI] Thing In The Ice on: March 15, 2016, 03:02:39 am
at least in legacy they get a base shell of

4 preordain
4 ponder
4 brainstorm
4 gitaxin probe
4 force of will
4 daze
4 delver
4 titi

we get
a call
walk
brainstorm
ponder
mystical tutor
merchant scroll
4 gush
4 preordain
4 gitaxin  probe
4 force of will
4 mental misstep
4 delver
4 titi

the rest is just fill in the blank.

6  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SOI] Thing In The Ice on: March 13, 2016, 10:32:34 pm
something along this line?

1 demonic tutor
4 TiTi
2 Vampire hexmage
1 hex parasite
1 spellkite
2 unearth
4 preordain
3 gush
1 demonic consultation
1 ancestral recall
1 careful study
1 repeal
1 senseis diving top
1 brainstorm
1 ponder
1 treasure cruise
4 force of will
4 mental misstep
1 vampiric tutor
4 dark confidant (or thirst for knowledge? bouncing bob seems ok to me.)
5 mox
1 lotus
1 lotus petal
4 underground sea
5 fetch
2 island
1 urborg, tomb of yawgmoth
1 tolarian academy
1 dark depths

I think the card is honestly rather bonkers. You could technically run this guy in burn.dec and use him as the finisher and not have to use burn on creatures.
7  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: (SOI) Heir of Falkenrath on: March 04, 2016, 12:54:34 pm

I have to disagree, this fits quite well as Delver 5-8 in bug. Still easily castable off a land and Mox, doesn't get countered by mental misstep.  I most definitely think it will see play.
8  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [SOI] Brain in a Bottle on: March 02, 2016, 11:37:49 pm
I just like the fact that this allows you to play draw Stevens like wheel and twister at opponents end step.
9  Eternal Formats / Null Rod Based Aggro / Re: White Trash - Post Origins on: February 17, 2016, 03:56:51 am
Peacekeeper and the white propaganda seem like choices to try versus mentor/pyro as well.
10  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Tolarian Academy Combo on: February 10, 2016, 01:58:25 am
Going green over red is a great idea imo. This gives you access Fastbond, Crop Rotation, Sylvan Library, and both Natures Claim and Abrupt Decay which both can handle Null Rods and Stony Silence. If you want to you might even be able to fit in Zuran Orb and Crucible of Worlds. A billion life and mana Academy or not is always fun.

Lol @ damnation being sixty bucks. I had zero clue. Sixty bucks for a black wrath are
12  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: Improving Bant Mentor on: January 20, 2016, 07:21:58 pm
On the flip side playing tutors allows you to find that one of null rod or stony silence faster which completely stops belcher. Im not disagreeing with you brian. Just throwing it out there that when running singletons to stop something that tutors obv have some merit. Ofc you could just stay three colors and play Seeds of Innocence Smile
13  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: Improving Bant Mentor on: January 15, 2016, 12:18:35 pm
I have always been a fan of Sylvan and just a question or suggestion but does Ivory Tower warrant a try in these decks as an alternate life gain and or card advantage engine with the ability to stay at five plus cards with Sylvan and Gush?

Thoughtseize would be my guess.
17  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / [OGW] Eldrazi Mimic on: January 04, 2016, 01:49:18 pm

I remember MaskNought being a deck for a while.  Could this do something for that deck?  Or StifleNought?
Drop one of these turn 1, turn two drop Dreadnought, swing for 12?

Obv not a super common hand but you could go turn 1 Eye of Ugin, drop 2 of these, turn two play a land and Phyrexian Dreadnought, and swing for 24  Very Happy
18  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [OGW] Jori En, Ruin Diver on: December 30, 2015, 05:40:02 pm
Two Silvergill after a Jori seems more cute than good. I simply see her as something you want in a deck where you are always trying to cast two spells everyturn. There are obv enough free spells and one mana cantrips to do this. She helps fuel her own chain. Might be time for me to break out my Opts alongside the preordains.
19  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: What's the best Vault/Key Deck? on: December 29, 2015, 02:52:50 am
One would think that since the restriction of Chalice that Turbotezz would be the best Vaultkey deck right? You can now run all the artifact ramp you wish to get that turn one or turn two Tezz into play.
20  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [OGW] Goblin Dark-Dwellers on: December 18, 2015, 12:07:27 pm
Seething Song into this and recasting Seething Song is plus two storm and a beat stick to join your Empty Goblin Horde.
21  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: New card-draw land on: December 18, 2015, 11:06:43 am
Im going on the assumption that since you cant use shop mana for this that you will still have AT LEAST three mana up to cast, well, ninety percent of what you draw? Not to mention drawing a land is not a bad thing either in these scenarios. I full on agree this is a great card for MUD. Im not gonna get in a huge debate on it tho as all cards time will tell.
22  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: New card-draw land on: December 17, 2015, 07:23:14 pm
I think this card really synergizes well with Smokestack builds allowing you to find more permanents to throw out.
23  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [OGW] Crumbling Vestage on: December 16, 2015, 01:39:02 pm
Maybe something with Rootmaze and Lotus Cobra?
24  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [OGW] Wastes: Barry's Land is REAL? on: December 13, 2015, 05:03:09 am
The way I meant it he was correct you could not use it. I was saying if there was a creature with ONLY <> symbols in its casting cost like CCC for example. You could not use the second mana ability to cast it and make it uncounterable due to that mana having to be of a specific color of your choice. Looks like I might get to play more with my Urzatron set tho Smile
25  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [OGW] Wastes: Barry's Land is REAL? on: December 12, 2015, 01:15:17 pm
So can lands like City of Brass or Mana Confluence tap for this? What if I name Eldrazi on Cavern of Souls and its cost is <> can I use the uncounterable mana to cast it or can I only use the colorless part?
26  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: Improving Bant Mentor on: December 10, 2015, 05:36:40 pm
I was just suggesting Crypt over Sol since it can power out turn one Mentor it can be repealed for mana it cant be Mental Misstepped and its better for Tinker. If not running tinker then I probably agree w no Crypt. If you have ways to abuse and remove Crypt then its better than Sol. Imo.
27  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: Improving Bant Mentor on: December 10, 2015, 01:55:03 pm
The eight cards I would consider are Tinker, A Tinker Bot, Merchant Scroll, Mana Crypt, Lotus Petal, Repeal, Regrowth/Snapcaster, and Swords to plowshares. This gives you additional threats as well as additional fast mana to cast things and additional defense versus most decks. Lotus Petal could be Fastbond but your already eating a bit of life off Sylvan and fetches so up to you. My two cents hope it helps.
28  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: Free Article - Vintage 101: Power Nine Challenge 2.0 on: December 04, 2015, 07:28:57 pm
Are there enough good enchantments besides Aegis and Sylvan to warrant running Argothian Enchantress? It gets around all the singleton removal and most counters. Maybe with Seals (green and blue or white) and even Fastbond and Coursers alongside Gush?
29  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Can we answer a Mentor? on: November 29, 2015, 08:59:17 pm
Just start running maindeck Anarchy. Cant be elemental blasted or mental misstep. seems obv guys.
30  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [BFZ] Painful Truths on: November 19, 2015, 05:30:39 pm
Im in the same boat as you guys. I think this is one of the best draw cards printed in a very long time. I have bought every copy from my local shop plus more.
