Well, there aren't a lot of combo players around here, except for me, and I'm currently working on aggro-control, so I can't say I've played against combo matchups more than 2 or 3 times in the last couple months, but I would think it's no different than it's always been, combo usually runs 18+ restricted cards, generally restricted because they're combo engines, and there's always going to be a slight random feeling to a deck that runs so many 1-of's, but the general path to victory each game, while using different cards, is usually pretty similar.

The general pattern is draw lots of cards, generate arbitrarily large amounts of mana, and win.  Obviously, some decks like Rector Trix are different, with Illusions Donate win, but in any combo deck, you need to have an immense card drawing engine, and a grip of mana acceleration.  When I used to play TurboDreams, I think I was running like 14 or 15 artifact mana sources, plus fastbond trade routes academy to generate enough mana to be able to go off turn 2 or 3.

I would think, Fever, that you'd get the same random feel playing Keeper, not current more redundant versions, but perhaps something franchise era.  Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what about it feels random to you though.
