yah, on Friday I went 4-3 with Keeper, but I made a bunch of mistakes that cost me games...I'll post my report for Friday and Sunday tonight.  If you thought there was a lot of sligh on friday, you should have seen Sunday.

I went 5-2, placed eighth.  I lost to Mono Black when I had a bad draw and Reanimator when he had a great draw.

Sligh won on Friday night.  A kid with dreadlocks named Willie from Northfield MN.

Yeah.  They both had their fathers bring them to GenCon.  That 12 year old was funny.  "How does it feel to get beat down by a 12 year old" he kept saying.

Or how about the guy who kept lecturing you on low-income housing in Minnesota?

"Saying" would be an understatement...it was like this 12-year old kid beating Milton down with his Sligh deck.  The kid won the first game and kept yelling, WWF style, "how does it feel to get beatdown by a 12-year old!!"    I was half-expecting him to stand up on his chair, start tearing his shirt off and yelling "Let me tell you something brother..." in old school Hulk Hogan style (not that he was alive during old school Hulk Hogan...)...as an aside, does anyone else remember watching Hulk Hogan vs Iron Sheik and him giving the Sheik his Camel Clutch...good times, good times..

The guy that kept lecturing me about affordable housing had a Flickering Ward - Dragon Whelp deck and didn't understand the timing rules.  He sucked.

That kid was funny.  It would have really sucked to lose to him.  I guess karma does count.

The little kid playing sligh was hilarious, i was sitting like almost next him playing my match using reanimator when he first said how does it feel to be beaten by a 12 year old which made me bust out laughing.

So you can cast Ancestral in *response* to my spell, draw 3 cards, then counter my spell?  But wouldn't that just counter your Ancestral?

EDIT: Just to clear things up, this isn't a ruling question, Milton's opponent didn't understand timing or something.

Please God tell me you're not serious.

a) He announces spell
b) You respond with Ancestral
c) He does nothing to counter Ancestral
d) You draw 3 cards
e) You attempt to counter the original spell because you can target any spell on the stack with a counterspell.

My take on this is that his OPPONENT said this.

Carl

EDIT: If a mod sees this, it's best to delete this post and the ones above/below.  R00b is gonna fix the one that caused the confusion ;P.  I just don't want the thread cluttered.

It was an inside joke.  The guy I played didn't know the new rules (which are really a couple of years old).  He still thought in terms of interrupt/instant.

I cast Ancestral in response to his creature.

I draw three cards, then counter his creature.  He tells me that I can't do that.  Everyone around him calls him a moron.  But, he still refused to believe, instead thinking he was somehow being cheated.  He reluctantly agreed to go along with what everyone was telling him so we didn't have to call a judge over.  I was embarassed for the guy.

He wasn't as bad as Fat Kid, though.

hi i'm willie.

i played sligh on friday and went 6-1, the only reason i won that was the amount of badly metagamed keeper. the metagame there went real bad real fast. when there are about 4 sligh decks in the top 8 then you know something is wrong.

btw i'm sorry for the 12 year old, he's from my area and dosn't know how to act.
