i have been playing type one for almost 2 years now, i feel i am semi-competitive , though unpowered, i have found mono-blue ophidian to be my deck of choice (i'm using legend's mana drains , he traded them to me right before he quit type one) . being not old enough to legally drive a car, i have had trouble finding sanctioned type one tournement locations , if anyone knows a place to play or wants to talk about the long island type one scene IM at klutchman7@aol.com

I've heard that Not Only Baseball Cards in Hicksville and Golden Memories in Mastic have tournies, although I've never been to either of them.
If you want consistent T1, hop the train to Neutral Ground, which is probably a better idea since you don't drive (same with me.)

not only baseball cards is where i started playing , and where i learned to play, i live in walking distance, but they don't sanction , and tournements are rarely more than 10 people, although anyone who plays serious type one should definitly give the place a shot , if you want the address or phone number of the place, just respond., JP where is this golden memories place located?

Maybe we could turn this post into a listing of long island players. theres a pretty good turn out weekly for the type 1 tournaments near me @Next Generation comics. Some are fully powered, some scrubs. If youre near deer park you guys should stop in. -Justin

ok this is starting to sound cool, i play at not only baseball cards, IM me at klutchman7@aol.com for the address/number we have alot of good players, some fully powered, and hold weekly tournements on saturdays we usually play single elimination for store credit, we allow 4 proxies as long as they are not power although we play single elim, this allows us to have 2 or 3 tournements on saturdays, the tournements usually start at like 1.

When I get a chance to play, I usually go out to Golden Memeories in Mastic, as its a bit closer for me (its on Montauk Hwy, just east of the end of William Floyd Parkway) Thwy have weekly Wed. tournaments that usually get about 15 people in the summer. We have a good nuber of highly ranked players too. Not too powered, but very, very interesting. Where and when is this Next Generation tourney?

I live out in southwest longisland (Rockville Centre to be exact. NG is the closest place for T1, but my girlfriend lives in Shirley (Neighbor to Mastic) where Golden Memories is. I've never been but my friend Jason Imperiale is a regular there. It's rough to take the 1.5 hour train ride out there and go play magical cards instead of see my girlfriend, but maybe ill get around to doing it one of these days.

I think there are two listings on the wizards website for T1 in Long Island. The great thing is that you can get a map there. There isn't real great directions though. These places are I think the Mastic and shirly spots which are listed as tuesday and wedsday tourneys.
I have a friend who just bought a car, has tuesdays and wedsdays off and who introduced me to this cardboard crack in the first place. I am trying to get him to give me a ride down there so we can compete.
What can we expect on tuesday or wedsday?

Since I'm a regular at Golden Memories, I'll tell you what you can expect.
Tuesday: Novice Tournaments (1PM, entrance fee and prize - I don't know, I'm not a newbie) - it's for the newbies. Wednesday: T1 Tournament (6PM, $3 - prize: $25 store credit) - Usually a few are powered, but most people have extremely fine-tuned decks there.
