Results for yesterday's tournament in Montréal?

I know Tom Bombadyl made top 8, but I had to leave before knowing the results of the first match...

Anybody can tell me who won?


By the way Tom, the first turn of the game you played against Mal was nothing but WONDERFUL!

Mal: u/r painland, lotus
Tom: land, lotus, sac lotus for green, library
Mal: thinks... sac lotus for triple blue, ancestral (!!)
Tom: Misdirection (!!!!!)
Mal: Thinks.... cycles that kind of new pyroclasm, draw fire/ice (!!!!!)³ and Force the Misdirection, draw 3.

That was a great tourney. 7 rounds of swiss. How great!

I made 4-2-1, playing my latest Deck Parfait listing, except that I've changed an Ivory Tower for a 3rd Scroll Rack.

1st match -- Carl Trudel, playing U/R control deck, with Skizzik.

I won the first game rather easily, when Humility resolved. 2nd game I lost to 2 Skizziks. I made a sideboard error, removing my 2 Story Circles to put Aegis of Honor. We don't have the time to play the third game. Should've won this match. My bad. 1-1

2nd match -- Olivier Cloutier, playing mono-u.

I lose the first game, as I'm unable to get rid of an early Morphling. 2nd game he's horribly mana screwed. 3rd game, I was able to get Mesa on the table, using Find in response to the activation (saccing) of Phyrexian Furnace. 2-1

3rd match -- Marc Charbonneau, playing a strange sub-optimal Academy deck with Morphlings and Arcanis.

I win the first game rather easily, as he's not able to play his enchantments and artifacts under Aura of Silence. 2nd game, I suffer some damage from Black Vises (Copy Artifacts) and I make the critical mistake to tap out. He draws a Will and replays most of his stuff (Jar, Geyser, Stroke). He puts 50+ mana in his pool and plays Ambassador Laquatus, and is about to take his cards in his hands when I tell him Laquatus is a 1/1 with no ability, like the 3 Morphlings he has into play. He then goes berserk and uses Trade Routes in order to get something to kill me. Despite having me at 4 life with 3 Vises on me, he gets crazy on the drawing and finally concedes... 2-0

4th match -- MigHells (Miguel D'Auteuil), playing r/g TnT

I draw about 3 swords, an aura and 4 finds in the early game. MigHells concedes shortly after. 2nd game is even more pathetic, as he runs into Pariahs, Abolishes, Moat and finally Humility. 2-0

5th match -- dicemanX, playing Abeyance Dragon

First game I lose rather quickly when dicemanX Abeyances me, countering my lone Orim's Chant. Game 2, I'm able to drop Blood Moon on 2nd turn. I then use a Jester's Cap to remove Mox Sapphire, Black Lotus and Wheel of Fortune (he has Mox Ruby in play). I misplayed here, I should've removed Mox Jet instead. I lay Mesa and he just can't do anything, except hard casting Dragon (!), which is sworded in response to its effect. 3rd game I keep a hand with Land Tax, Chant and a single Plains. I do not play the Tax, as I'm afraid of a quick kill (I rather leave the Plains untapped to keep Chant available). I end up being mana screwed, as I only draw a Wasteland in the next turns. Of course, a single Chant isn't enough to stop the combo. 1-2

6th match -- Cancerman (was it really you?), playing TnT

I don't really remember game 1, except that I won. Game 2, he drops some real nasty stuff against me : Hull Breaches, Cap, Sylvan Safekeeper... I have a lot of removal in my hand but I can't target his creatures because of Safekeeper. I end up losing because I drew a Wasteland instead of a Plains (I had a plains, a Sol Ring and Wrath in hand). Third game I'm able to play Balance/Zuran Orb and he concedes shortly after.

7th match -- Tom Bombadyl, playing Keeper

At 4-1-1, I need to win this difficult matchup to make top 8. First game, I lay Land Tax and Strip his first land. I realize the mistake and, as expected, he plays Library of Alex. He then plays Sylvan Library... Game 2 I keep a so-so hand and try to cast an early Mesa. He has the FoW for it, and plays Aura Fracture. I don't draw anything significant and lose to Morphling. 0-2

I end up 16th out of 73. The other Team Clement members did fairly well, with MrZazel (mono-u) being 5-2, MigHells (TnT) being 5-2 and I don't remember LucUTF's record.

2 CTM regulars made top 8, Yannick Veilleux (who finished 1st with his signature Palinchron deck) and Sebastien Labrecque, aka Gilligan (playing mono-u).

K-RUN, it wasn't me who played against you, although I did play TNT. I do remember play against The_Phoenix (Andrew) in the 6th run. I won that match-up 2-1.

I finished 14th. Not bad considering that a lot of poeple were playing a lot of TNT hate in their sideboard. I went 5-2-0, where one of those lost was due to the fact that i was mana short for the first game and mana flood the next.

It really was an incredible tourney!!!

That was my friend Phil Trump's TnT deck powered by yours truly.  Phil had tested most against my Parfait deck, so I hope he at least gave you a good workout.  Oh, he said you won both games by topdecking Balance.

Apparently, there were only two TnT decks there and neither made T8 surprisingly enough.

Actually Razor, there was at least 3 TnT (Mig'hells, Cancerman and your friend). I expected more of them though.

I played an MoxLotusLess rOSE, and I performed a lot worst than in the last tourney (I was fully powered that time) in which top 8ed.

1st Round against WW, 2-0

Round 2 against lackey/mutant 3 color sligh 1-2
Won the first easily, but faced a second turn mutant and was sitting on Pyroclasm and Fire on the second game (I waited for another red source. Lost the third the same way, drawing 0 creature removal. Mutant hurts!

Round 3 against Mono-B
Surprisingly won both games with first turn Library, wich resisted to Hymn in the first game (I tutored for Ancestral) and turn 1 Duress turn 2 hymn in the second game.

Round 4 against Parfait.
Draw... 0-0! Would have won if I have made a good Wish choice, would have lost on next turn.

Round 5 against Keeper

I made a HUGE error (don't want to talk about it anymore   )  in game one... and got my ass royaly kicked in second.

Round 6 B/g suicide
Lost the first one to Negator, won the second due to mana screw, won the third fairly.

Round 7 Vs Cancerman with TnT

Lost the first due to some misplays and no morphling...
Lost the second to my deck's 3 cities of brass    with morphling in play. By the way, Squee killed me that game (   Cancerman!)
