Type 1 in Silverdale

Wow, it was pretty cool. Wiht 3 days notice we gathered as much as our friday night magic for type 2 usually gets which is about 15, not bad. We would have had about 20 but we decided not to tell Kevin, and a few people had nothing to play on such short notice.

Having freshly torn my 9 land stompy deck, and having aquired so many cards for sligh (but not finished) I decided to run Zoo, good old faitheful reg green aggro, here's the list:

Few odd choices: Land Grant because there was some Ankh Sligh and because I didn't feel like trying to get 4 Wooded Foothills in 3 days. And the Stormbinds because I couldn't afford Scrolls, but I like the synergy wiht Nimble Mongoose and the fact that its an enchantment and can't be kegged away in the blink of an eye. The lack of Wastelands and Strip Mine is because I traded my playset of Wastes to Cid awhile ago and I didn't think a lone strip was that cool, not too mention I had enough hate in my board for non basics, something to the tune of 3 Blood Moon and 4 Price of Progress. Naturalize main was pretty cool and seemed to just feel right. Sylvan equals good especially against control and combo that you can race with extra burn. Wheel of Fortune turned out to be good. Not the MVP I thought it was gong to be but still solid, and Vise....well we know what Vise can do.

I didn't take notes because I forgot my legal pad at home (damn), so here's match results and sum ups.

Round one- I play my friend who I lent my Replenish deck too. real nice guy and is kinda lost on how to play the deck properly as it is his first time and wasn't around when it was rampant in type 2. I sweep him (it probably would have been 2-1 me but made a horrid play mistake in game 2). He goes on to take 3rd.

Round two- Eric. I hang out with Eric alot. he decides to play his version of RecSur. I get womped because of Oath of Ghouls/ Feeder Recursion and then he drops a big fat mother fucking Contamination... Game 2 he gets feeder recursion and tradewind bounce, I get n00bized 4$ H!$ d3Ck 0wNz0rz m3.

I didn't want to see eric till last round to play for first. We go to Zumies (we both hate Zumies), and grab a couple Jones Sodas. We talk about stuff and life in general as Eric and I do so much. We also talk about women and how much we hate humanity...good times.

Round 3 I get paired agianst Chuck and his Aluren deck (i start to quiver because turn 3 go off happens sometimes but no big deal right?) Game one he sits on 3 land and dies horribly while I get mad Shaman+Mongoose of the Blurred variety b34tdown with some burn thrown in. Game 2 I get land fucked...he Cabal Therapies, I Incinerate him, he names Incinerate and he takes the other 2 that I unhappily throw into the grave. He combos me out...This sucks. Game 3 goes his way again when I can't find a red mana to save my life...he therapies 3 times naming Bolt, Chain and, 'Cinerate. I topdeck Wheel of Fortune and Wheel into ONE FUCKING BURN SPELL and play it to put him at 7, then he combos me out. I hate combo and getting fucked when I should win (I mean Aluren doesn't win until turn 5 or so, I should have won by then).

Round 4 is aginst Will "The Dragon Boy"'s little brother's friend (if that wasn't hard to understand...I played a little scrubby queer with HORRIBLEredCRAP.deck) before he hits his amazingly high mana curve, I lay fat Kird Ape beat down with mongoose back up...then I burn him out faster than a college student doing crank. This happens both games.

Dan the tourney organizer is a lazy fuck who hates his job, so we only do 4 rounds. This is fucked, but atleast it was fun. I end up going 2-2 when I should have gone 3-1 beating Aluren but that's the way the cards flop sometimes. I had fun. My Replenish playing buddy ends up 3rd, 4 color tog takes first, and Eric with Survival takes 2nd.

Thought for the day- Besides it would have been more fun on acid...nothing
