What are the Best or Most commonly used T1 Decks today?  Also... your opinion how you think they match up would be interesting.  Can this information be presented in a list, or is the T1 field too diverse?   Thanks for the Info!

You can't say there is THE BEST T1 Deck (IMO, some people will say it's Keeper, see posts below Wink ...
There are so many Decks in T1:

Keeper: shouldn't require explanation. You can find Decklists and Primers nearly everywhere.

TnT: same as above, look into the Extreme Vintage forum

Sui: Suicide, mostly Mono Black. Disrupts your opponent with heavy discard etc. and finishes him withearly threats like Phyrexian Negator.

Sligh: see TnT and Keeper

Oath: This is a combo deck, based on Oath of Druids. Look a bit around in these forums, you will find many of them.

Parfait: A mono-white Control deck based on the powerful Land Tax-Scroll Rack combo, kills with Sacred Mesa and Moat/Humility.

~to be continued~
(There are so many more, read the Extreme Vintage forum and look a bit around at morphling.de...)

Also, one of the reasons it's called Suicide Black is often you drain your own resources killing your opponent, with creatures like Carnophage, Sarcomancy, Phyrexian Negator and Flesh Reaver.

Necropotence also drains away your life.

There are also combo decks, like Academy, Turbonevyn, and Worldgorger dragon. Once again, the search button will get you far more information on the decks than could fit in one post.

Don't forget Stompy!
A deck which uses the most efficient one drops green has, and beats. And beats.  Mostly consists of somewhat between 6-10 forests(more would be hereticy!), 30 creatures 12 creature enchanters, few winter orbs/null rods etc...

Ok, maybe that is not one of the best. Er-... Maybe that is quite bad, but it is a blast to play!

(and actually specifically made/tuned stompy can beat keepers in row... Wink) (or maybe not. Peace Keeper. Scoop. But who plays it anyhow?  )

Here's a list of all the commonly played decks I can think of.

* = I don't consider this seriously competitve except in less-than-optimal metagames

Control

Keeper
Mono Blue (U/R Ophidian and other variants)
OSE
Oath
Parfait
Enchantress

Aggro and Aggro/Control

Stompy
Mask
Sligh
Suicide Black / Void
Merfolk/Standstill (commonly called Gay Fish)
TnT, Stacker2, Funker, etc.
*Miracle Gro (admittedly, lack of experience against it)
*White Weenie variants (though the WW/r versions can excel in certain metagames)
*Zoo variants (though some stuff I see online looks like it might be competitive)

Combo (note: none of these are desirable in a control-dominated metagame, but they are all equally good in an aggro-dominated one)

Neo-Academy
TurboLand (TurboNevyn)
Squirrel's Nest/Earthcraft
Worldgorger
*Trix (Restricted Necro = this deck sucks)

EDIT1: added Void and Trix.  I don't see Bazaar decks of any sort much, so didn't add it.

EDIT2: Added Mask.

Don't forget Black Bazaar for aggro and Trix for combo.  Gotta mention void in there somewhere too (right next to sui).

You've not played Keeper in a panic position until you have played against Masknought. Quite simply, I believe this deck to share the upper perch of the format with Keeper and TnT.

I know about Mask, but where do I put it?  Aggro or combo?  Or is it its own category?

@Zherbus: Hey come on, Pox is popular, it just isn't that good

Anyways, you might be interested in this post:

Zherbus is right; Pox isn't very widely played.  I see more theme decks, T2 decks and  decks more than Pox.

Thanks for all that info... as an old time player trying to get back into the game, I appreciate the help.  In addidion, I am also interested in how, in general, the matchups of these best/most popular decks play out.  Are there clear cut, widely accepted advantages in matchups between some of these decks?  It would be interesting to see if there was a rock paper scissors effect going on here.

Thanks for the other links, and If this subject has been addressed elswhere, just point me in the right direction!

There isn't really a rock-paper-scissors effect here, since there are so many deck types.  I'll give some general matches where one side has a definite advantage.

DISCLAIMER:  These are what, IN MY OPINION, has the advantage in particular matchups.  I am in no way saying that the matchup is unwinnable or a guaranteed win for either deck.  I am speaking GENERALLY, not taking into account skill difference.

Anything in the Combo category > Anything in the Aggro category, except maybe Suicide and Fish

Anything in the Control category (except Parfait and Enchantress) > Anything in the Combo category

Parfait, Enchantress, and Oath > the majority of the aggro category

Everything on the list except for some in the aggro category > White Weenie

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
