I was marked for death the moment i got there. I was the "guy who brings a girl to the magic tourney" but whatever.. she was only kinda around, and I don't think she annoyed anyone at all.

So anyway, I got suicide black, back in october it won me a Lotus. I decide that although I find this to be a generally bad desicion, I run Negator main. simply because I hate control with the savageness. Now onto the tourney...

Round 1 Dan (Pernicous Dude)
Yeah, I didn't make any mistakes in game one, but proceeded to get it handed to me by a bunch of fish. Although an unexpected deck, Dan has always been one of the better rogue players, so I wasn't taking him lightly... out go the negators, in come.. things that don't get pinged.. anything. Oh yeah.. and Contagion...
Game 2 I make at least three recognizable mistakes, and somehow manage to get hyppie love anyway, I own the skie's, and his fish get beat.
Game 3 I got 4 non-land cards, and about 13 land.. he wins, I am not complaining, I am just giving the scope of things. (I hade when people complaina bout getting screwed/flooded, whatever guys.. it is something you should acoount for, because it happens.)
0-1-0

I hate being 0-1-0, it basically says.. you can't lose a game ever again.

Round 2 "Red hair who I should know"
He was playing some very odd rogue deck, game one I ate him because he couldn't get enough mana for a moat, game two I ate him cause he played city of solitude and couldn't activate his white mana source on my turn.

Round 3
I don't remember this match up, mainly because the next match takes up most of my daily active memory. I am assuming I beat the kid pretty badly, and I think it was 2-0.

Round 4 G-Inquisitor (steve)
I hate playing vs. Steve. He is awesome, and he has this inherent ability to beat the shit out of me everytime we play. However, I think I have found a flaw in this...

Game 1
I rip him apart with three topdecked hyppies.. whatever to that. I sideboard everything that could concievable be misdirecte.d. accept my hidden tech.. Unearth.

Game 2
I get THE BEST HAND EVER... and manage to lose, my first turn went something like this... Land, Duress-- mox, Ritual, Negator. He was doing awesome brainstorm trix to save his oath, and eventually eats me alive with guys created via oath. I think I have a chance when I make a nantuko shade with his oath.. and then realize his morphling owns my shit.. it flies, and would have swung for 5/win... but I concede to save the 4 secodns of time it owuld have taken for him to take his turn.

Game 3
He brainstorms to hide his oath.. 3 times!!! I get negator, and Shade on the table-- no counter spells... and I proceed to try and run him out. he impulses, looks through his ards, does a power to pump to signify that he has foudn hsi win condition, and then shakes my and and notifies me that I win.

I hate playing Steve... I already said this, because he wrecks... anyway, my secret tech for beating steve is playing suicide black. Twice I have played him while using suicide black,a dn twice I came out on top. Every other time I have played him, when I use other aggro (aggro rules!) he beats me, really really bad. He usually kicks my ass enough that I feel like not playing magic anymore.. so take that steve! Who cares though right? You still owned the tourney.

Round 5 "guy playing Rouge"
I thought i was going to smash this match up, but I don't think I played any worse because of it.

Game 1
He own'd me.. mystic E.. OWNS BLACK! But you already knew that.. I got reminded.

Game 2
I managed to Shade his ass to death, not a very close game, he kept searching for options.. but Shades = 7/6's alot of the time, and destroy other spells. Shade is the closest thing to morphling that black has, but that doesn't mean that they are even close. (I am a fan of restricting Morphling, and force of fill.. and any other blue spell.)

Game 3
We fight a really close game, until he drops a survival.. and goes and finds a team of Spiritmonger's, and Mystic E's... I don't know how he caught up with me that game, but still he did, and wrecked me by leaving a Mystic E untapped.

He is a good guy, and I don't mind that he made t8 over me, but I was disapointed that after winning one of the hardest match's ever (any match against Steve) I didn't get to flex in the t8. No big deal though, Syracuse is in a couple weeks, and I won't run into any true rogue there, I hope.

3-2, Loss to two rogue's, two awesome guys.

Props:
Chris (Moobius) for swinging to the top 2. Squirrels represent!
Hadley for taking 1,2, and 3... Where is CT at?
Steve (Inquisitor), for winning, with only one loss for the day, ME!

Slops:
Jared-- Tie-dye?
Zerbus-- Not showing up? (begging for TMD account couldn't occur.. perhaps you anticipated this. )
Replenished kid-- For not playing magic cards for fun. even if the deck isn't done, magic still RooLz.. and you should play it.
Hulk3Rulz- Not t8ing agian.. you used to be my hero hulk, now your in the NwO.
Ct- Where was your representing

BTW... Salem = Eastern, Ma... Hadley = Central, Ma.

Proving once agian...

Hadley OwNz CT.
4-3

1. My name isn't that hard to spell.

2. I would have dismissed you if you had begged me for anything, much less an account to a website.

3. Rouge is 'red'. Rogue is probably what you meant.

4. Thanks for beating Gro, eventually enough people will start preparing for THAT instead of Keeper decks that don't show up.

5. I chose my woman > magic and a 6 hour round trip. There are very few people would would disagree with that.

I'm gonna try to uh, lighten this up a bit.
I made top eight playing Mask, which resembled Phelon's version a lot because more than half of it was his.  The exact list eludes me, but it included
4 Illusionary Mask
4 Phyrexian Dreadnought
Some Hypnotic Specters
Some Duresses
Some (I think and hope four) Unmasks
3 or 4 Dark Rituals
1 Recoil
1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Demonic Consultation
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Mind Twist
1 Timetwister
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Black Lotus
1 Time Walk
1 Necropotence
4 Tainted Pact
1 Sol Ring
I ran light on trading for fetchlands before the tournament, so my land base looks kind of weird.
2 Flooded Strand
1 Bloodstained Mire
4 Underground Sea
3 Mishra's Factory
3 Snow-Covered Swamp
3 Swamp
3 Underground River
1 Wasteland
1 Strip Mine

And yes, you'll notice Ancestral Recall isn't there.  It was my fifth proxy, and I kind of uh, misplaced it.  I later found it clinging to the inside of my deck box.  whoops.

Round One - Jarad (Wicketsnatcher) playing U/G Bears
Game one is all about my dreadnought getting blocked by six bear tokens.  He caught me completely by surprise and after a quick laugh I sided in Dystopia.  Games two and three see Dreadnoughts early and fast, both times with Dystopia support.
2-1-0, 1-0-0

Round Two - Anthony (???)
I've seen his Land's Edge deck in action before and I wasn't sure if I could go fast enough to kill before he could stabilize.  Game one saw a first turn dreadnought go all the way.  Game two he's laying moxes, drawing new hands, and land taxing all over the place, finishing the job with Seismic Assault while I hold back Underground Sea and hope to discard it for the kill if he's forgotten Land's Edge is any player.  He hadn't.  Game three was a toss up, he needed land to kill and I needed a dreadnought to Time Walk with and run in for the kill.  Time was called (what the hell, I'm playing Mask!) and we drew, both of us actually somewhat relieved.
1-1-1, 1-0-1

Round Three - Cool guy I forgot the name of playing White Weenie
We sit down and he drops a Swords to Plowshares while shuffling.  I have a bad feeling about it, but I deal myself a hand and roll for the first turn.  I win the roll and pick up my hand.
Holy shit.
I drop a swamp, double ritual, duress, mask, and two face down Dreadnoughts.  I take his land tax (everything else was land or creatures) and he draws.  He Swordses my one of my big men with his topdeck, but the other one doesn't care and just smashes face.  I side in Dystopia, Gloom, and even Lord of Tresserhorn (who I sided in almost every opportunity I got, just because he's the coolest motherfucker around) .  His sideboarding takes a long time, which is no surprise as his library now contains 2 Null Rods, 4 Swords to Plowshares, 4 Seal of Cleansings, and 4 Disenchants.  I look at my hand and see a little first turn dreadnought love, which I lay on the table and await his next action.  He plops down a Soltari guy, and I draw into Mox Jet.  I lay the Jet and a swamp, and Tainted Pact....  Into another Dreadnought.  His Swords can't stop it and the killers rush over his lions the following turn.
2-0-0, 2-0-1

Round Four - Nick (BillTheDuck)
Nick is the man with a plan.  He Swordses my dreadnoughts, he counters my masks, he edicts my hyppies, and he duresses my unmasks.  He easily runs over me both games with negators and white weenies.  Coincidentally, the second game here sees the worst play I've ever made in my life, and will become my own Demonic Consultation Legacy.  For reasons I still can't quite explain, in response to his Duress I Demonic Consultationed for Ancestral Recall.  Whoops.  I kind of forgot it wasn't in my deck, and managed to deck myself.  At least his Negators couldn't kill me this time, I was taking myself out!  Hah!
0-2-0, 2-1-1

Round Five - Dude with a red shirt playing Suicide Black
Game one goes Swamp, Ritual, Mask, Dread, smash.  Game two I keep this hand - Mask, Ritual, Ritual, Ritual, Pact, Underground Sea, Yawgmoth's Will, and I pray for anything that isn't first turn duress.  My prayers are answered when he says go, and I proceed to put two big men on the table on turn one.  He Demonic Consultations for Edict in desperation, and as he passes one in the first six cards he realizes he only sided two in.  He finds it and I turn a Mishra's Factory into a creature to sacrifice it.  I then smash his face for 22 (he chumped with a hyppie) and report.  Round time:  Two minutes, eighteen seconds.  time to eat.
2-0-0, 3-1-1

Top Eight - Dan Richardson (Pernicious Dude)
If Nick had answers for everything, Dan has answers for everything and more.  Game one is actually close despite maindecked Null Rods and Maze of Ith, and I get him to three when I duress - Revealing three Psionic Blasts.  By my math I would have been at four if he swung with everything, and he did...  And then Blasts for the kill.  Game two he plays two null rods and it's all over.  In both these games, and I think he'll agree, Pact screwed me.  The first pact showed BOTH my flooded strands in a row, with NOTHING before them.  My second got me Dark Ritual, Snow Covered Swamp, Dark Ritual.  Oh well, no sense complaining, I'll win it next time.  Ph34r.
0-2-0

Props
Chris, for making it to the finals
Steve, for finally winning after the T4
Ray, for eating 'all that and a bag of chips'
T&T for hosting a good one
Phelon for loaning me the masks and dreads and almost everything in between (including Timetwister)
Keith for giving me rides
and Keith's friend Dan for loaning me Underground Seas and a Vampiric Tutor

Slops
Loren, for not bringing the sligh I intended to play (no joke)
Greg A, for not coming
Chris B, for beating me over a year ago with a sneak attack deck despite Lobotomizing Sneak Attack on turn two (heh)

Since this seems to be the place for unregistered users to talk about losing at Hadley, I'll join in.

I brought White Weenie.  White is the best color, and WW is the best build.  Unfortunately, no one seems to believe me on this, including my cards.  Time after time, I got owned by artifacts, all the while hoping for one of the 8 artifact-hate cards in my deck.  It was like, yeah, there's a Dreadnought/Mask/Survival, but if I draw one of those sixteen Disenchants in here, I can still win.  My deck hated me.  But it's okay; I'm over it.  Even if I lost, I had the best proxies there.

Mykeatog - I hear you about bringing the girlfriend.  One time, I brought my girlfriend to a Hadley tournament and she played her WW shadow deck and won the whole thing, killing G-Inquisitor in the last round when he had her on the Morphling-clock.  Yes, that's right, she won a tournament there, and I never have.  And she did it with a deck I pretty much stripped to make the deck I lost with yesterday.  I don't know whether to be proud of her, or horribly ashamed that she's apparently way better than me.  Both?

All she took home for first was a dual land, though.  Go Terry!  Keep those crazy prizes coming!!!  That's the way to make people come back!  That, and making them play out in the food court when your store can't accomodate them!  Way to play the market!  What a guy!!

Zherbus - I guess you're excused this time, but I too heard you were coming and was looking forward to thrashing you with Shadow guys.  So it was disappointing not only when you didn't show, but also when everyone tooled on me.
SummenSaugen - Good report; my name's Dan.  You can feel what I'm talking about with the whole no-drawing-answers thing.  When I'm running 12 answers to your 4 Dreadnoughts and still lose to them, there's not much I can do.
Mykeatog - Nice report.  Sorry you lost, but so did I.  And at least you weren't playing a (worse, apparently) version of a deck your girlfriend made.  Man, I have to take up Pokemon cards or something.

Myke:  I would've played if I could.... I didn't even have enough WITH the proxys.  Or do you mean in between games or something else?  Trust, me I am coming to play in Hadley every Saturday after this next one (if I actually get the cards I need.)  Think you can help me out?

So Ray was that guy eating the 3 subs and stuff? Or was that some other guy?  Anyway, I was tempted to give the guy a measly 2 dollar coupon... oh well.

Owning soon at Hadley: ReplenishedGuy!

Yah, SummenSaugen, those were some harsh Pacts.
Not only was there the Flooded Strand Flooded Strand and the Dark Ritual bunch if stuff Dark Ritual,
but I seem to recall one that bombed when the second Dreadnaught showed up.
Granted that was while I had 2 Null Rods out (OK, now I need Recoil and Will) but still.
Losing to an overabundance of your main win condition hurts.

Those were some awesome games.

Mykeatog.
Nice job beating Steve.

OK, you brought your girlfriend.
I brought my wife and both kids.
Pretty sure that trumps your ass.
And no, your girlfriend didn't annoy anyone.
Distract, on the other hand...
She's awfully cute.

Was your round 5 Adam?
Lots of rings on his fingers and Reflecting Pool in his deck?
Fork?
Mystic Enforcer and Spiritmonger sounds right, but I don't know about the Survival.

Replenished Guy: Magic = Fun. You should play it.

Pernicous Dude: Yes, you trump me.. and owned me in the first round. Yeah, it was infact Adam who delivered the final blow int he fifth round, His survival OwNed me.

Zherbus: Be happy, magic = love. (I will attempt to not forget your name's spelling.)
