Wild Counterburn look viable?

I saw a question on the Vintage board about using Wild Research in Type 1. It's a new card to me (stopped collecting much around Nemesis) so I thought I'd try and work it into a deck.

Just a first pass at it but it looks pretty good. Might be better card choices and/or splashing White for StP's instead of the Lightning Bolts.

Basic premise is to get down a Wild Research and a Library of Leng allowing you to get the card you want on your next draw at the worst, while not losing you any cards you care about. Doing it at the end of your opponents turn is basically a Mystical/Demonic hybrid every turn. Get the Digger out and your paying 4 mana to recur any Instant every turn (Ancestral or whatever you need). Seems pretty good.

I'd like to fit in some other draw to get the card immediately (maybe a Jalum Tome?) but haven't figured out what to cut yet.

Well, what do you hope to draw with Wild Research?   Uhh, counters and burn?  It seems to me that bascially anything would be better than Wild Research in the slot... more burn, Ophidians, Cunning Wish with a suitable sideboard, anything.  By all means, try it out, but I think you'll find out what I said is true.

Yeah. It's supposed to draw you counters and burn or StP's if you swapped in White. I guess the point is that with both cards in play you get exactly the card you need every turn. It's a combo geared towards controlling the mid-late game. You still have to live past the early game of course but so does any control deck.

It's just another option to running a larger amount of search cards and instead running a search engine. One that isn't Misdirectable or Counterable once it's down. Looks alot more reliable then Tax/Scroll at least since it works in any situation while Tax/Scroll only works if you can Tax.

The decks already running 4 more Counters then a normal Keeper type deck and more burn. You could fit the Wild Research/Library of Leng into a Keeper type build as well.

I'll mess around some and playtest it a bit. See if it can consistently get the combo out. Once it's down I really think always being able to grab spells will be quite effective at stopping pretty much any other deck.

Just an attempt at abusing Wild Research since it's once of the few unrestricted search methods in Type 1 right now.

Counter-Burn looks good, but if you cut the Wild Research (why do you run it, anyway), and lower the burn, it starts to look like an UrPhidian deck, which in my opinion is a lot better.  

So, in conclusion you will see that Counter-Burn is OK, but it is more commonly known as UrPhidian.

Yeah. I like Uphidian or U/rphidian better to. This deck was just an idea that came from reading a post on the Vintage boards asking if anyone had broken Wild Research yet. This was the closest I could come to breaking it without a true combo deck.
